We Tried It: Cabbage Soup Diet - Day 2
Cabbage Soup Day 2
Just in case you were wondering, Karlie and I did have a plan when we started the cabbage soup diet. First we thought seven days wasn’t so bad. For Karlie, well she felt she was eating kind of “bad.” She was going out to lunch and dinner a lot and wanted to do a sort of detox to get back on track. For me, I wanted to kick start a healthy eating plan and try to drop a few pounds. We thought we would try this out and see what happened.
Day 2 - Menu:
Vegetable Day!
Eat all the vegetables you want - fresh, raw, or cooked vegetables of your choice. Stay away from dry beans, peas and sweet corn. Reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter for dinner. Eat as much soup as you like but no fruit for today. Drink plenty of water and take a multivitamin.
Creative Creations: Be creative with your veggies! Think it might be hard eating vegetables for breakfast? Try baking butternut squash pieces with a sprinkle of cinnamon. For lunch, try sautéing a combination of vegetables together with a diced tomato sauce.
For dinner, add some steamed broccoli on top of your baked potato.

I am intrigued! I want to know more - like are you hungry, etc.!
Hi Shelley -
Check out the videos, you will see that there are days where Karlie and I are straving. We are finding that drinking a lot of water helps. And you can always snack on baby carrots or have more soup! Thanks for the comment! - Melissa
Lo or no carb seems to be the only diet that works for me, and I am currently on it getting ready for the beach this summer. You can have cabbage on lo carb and it’s a really healthy vegetable with lots of vitamin C and fiber…after reading this article I think I’ll be making some cabbage soup myself. I also eat cole slaw made with just cabbage, mayo, salt and pepper since plain mayo has no carbs, and it’s very satisfying.
I’m afraid I can only dream of the baked potato. Sniff
I have done the cabbage soup diet several times and always lose 5-9 pounds. This last time I did it as a “detox” type diet to jumpstart the losing process. After my 7 days of soup, I took 3 days off and then started Weight Watchers (on my own) and have lost a total of 13 pounds since Feb 1.
I liked the Cabbage soup diet–I love soup anyway–and the other stuff is just bonus. If you get tired of “soup”, you can always fry it. Just take all the veg’s from the soup and leave out the juice, broth and water and make a little stir fry with the veg’s. Very tasty.
For Day 2, I look forward to the baked potato, really look forward to it! I top it with butter and sauteed onions. I get a lot of strange looks when I have a salad for breakfast. Why not? People have breakfast food for supper (pancakes, omelets, etc.)
Where can I find the complete list of what to have every day? I missed day 1. Thanks.
