Any comments as to how well this will work when combined with daily exercise? If it were done for the the alloted week then toned down to just heathier eating habits? Would the weight still come back just as fast? I'm pretty in the dark here.

Sometimes all it takes is a little success to bring on more success. I think I'll try this to kick-start my spring fitness push. Thanks for this information and for showing how it worked for y'all.

I liked the soup but think I blew any weight loss benefits when I added stew meat and potatoes.

Two things will cause you to lose weight and keep it off: Eat less, move more.
The "Colon Blow" diet (great SNL sketch, by the way) will probably cause you to lose weight, but without excercise and more protein, it will come right back and be even harder to get rid of.

Both my husband and I have done this in the past, and felt fine doing it. It did kick-start a right way of eating and when we felt we needed to do it again, we did. We didn't get sick of it at all. It was actually wonderful to do in the winter months. We are planning on doing it again in a couple of weeks after we get back from vacation. And with the warmer months ahead we get out and do more walking along with it. It's a good soup to do maybe once every few months.

The old cabbage soup diet, yes I tried it about 9 years ago...I still make the soup today. My husband and I each lost more than 10 pounds, and gained it right back. It was a cleansing experience. The entire house stunk like cabbage for weeks, so did we.

At my house, we refer to the Cabbage Soup diet as the Colon Blow Diet. (with a nod to a relatively obscure SNL skit) All I can say is good luck with that and don't take anything for granted.

As a professional, fad food/diets do not work for long term results.
Lifestyle changes that come slowly but permanently are a much better
avenue to exert your efforts.
Fast weight loss may mean you lose muscle and fat. When you gain weight back you gain mostly fat. Thus, you are in worse shape than before you started.
Calorie controll, physical activity, recording food intake, are all better ways to
promote good health for the rest of your life. There are no shortcut to healthy!
