America needs to wake up!!!! Why is it that “mainstream” america just can not be accepting of anything outside the lines. Gender is NOT binary. AND that scares small minded people! There is evidence of transsexualism occuring since the begining of time! This is not some new medical advancement! Being so negitively judgemental of Transsexuals is the same as hating people because of their race, religion, or hairstyle for that matter. It’s a form of hate and fear of the unknown. America is supposed to be the land of the free and home for us all!
And the fact of the matter is, for all you small minded and unaccepting people - transexual men (female to male) exist everywhere AND YOU CAN’T EVEN TELL!!!!! So simmer on this…that “guy” on the bus, in line, at the urinal next to YOU…was he born male or is he a transman!!!! You’ll never know.

I’m really amused by all this outrage. Really, what is everybody so afraid of? I’m sorry, but our societal norms were not handed down from on high: they were made by people. Unfortunately, a lot of them were made by people to oppress other people (e.g., “women are weak and stupid,” “blacks are stupid and violent,” “gays are perverted”). Thank *God* those of us who have woken up from the stupor of fundamentalist religion and provincial thinking don’t have to live by them anymore.

You say “according to the Bible,” as if humans had no hand in its creation. What can you tell me about the Council of Nicaea? About the non-canonical gospels? What about the fact that there are two different creation stories, or God calls Isaac Abraham’s “only son” when Abraham had two sons, or the fact that gospels can’t agree on which night the last supper was held, or that Paul doesn’t seem to know anything about Jesus’s life and mission? Have you even read the Bible? (I suggest you check out the Song of Solomon - now there’s some enlightening reading.) Paul thought Jesus was coming within his lifetime and told people not to bother getting married for that reason. Well, it’s almost two thousand years later and we’re still waiting!! Yet you seem to think we must be living in the “end times” - a grand tradition! Very convenient for people across the centuries who have felt threatened by challenges to their narrow worldview. Too bad it’s not going to happen. We may be facing the end of the world, but not in the form of the second coming - nuclear war or mass extinction from global warming would be more like it.

What is our world coming to? We are definitely in the end times. I don’t understand how a person could be so selfish to bring a child into this world under these circumstances. My 10 yr old daughter’s best friend has a parent that recently had a sex change and it’s been very troubling for all of us. Children have enough crap to face in this world, so let’s just add one more thing to make them feel abnormal. I think the press is wrong for making such a huge deal about this also. She is a woman, maybe not legally or physically (anymore) but according to the Bible, she is a woman!!

There is a transgender man-named Thomas Beatie, and a REAL pregnant man that was artificially inseminated by an experiment procedure named Lee Mingwei. Lee Mingwei was born a man, and was impregnanted through a controversial procedure…

I think it’s interesting that Christians are so good at criticizing and throwing their bigot all over the place, and yet, can’t spell or use proper grammar.

Somehow it seems to be an ironic intellectual justice.

The gender spectrum exists, whether the Conservative, Christian ‘Right’ chooses to acknowledge it. I understand that what one doesn’t know or understand is scary or threatening, but bigotry, transphobia and hate are uncalled for and unproductive. A transsexual woman is a person who was born with male hormonal, biological, anatomical structures and transitioned to a female presentation, identification, and hormonal structure.

Humans are social beings, and our society has evolved in form and forum and yet Fox news seems to be stuck in the mud.

Learn to respect people around you, listen to them without judgment. It seems to me that is what the Bible, that oh so sacred book you bring up, is preaching. Is tolerance, listening, and not judging. That God is the one responsible for that.

There are many reasons why this is ludicrous. First, the woman wants to be a man. S/he legally changes her sex so that all her documents say that she is a man. Then s/he gets married to a woman. The woman cannot have children because she had a hysterectomy… in addition to the fact that her husband has NO SPERM. These two should have dealt with the fact that they could not have children and kept the sex change to themselves if they did not want to receive reactions from people who don’t approve. I, for one, feel sorry for the child growing inside a woman who has fought her whole life to be a man, and once s/he got what s/he wanted still wanted the epitome of all that is womanly— to bear a child. It is too ironic, and the child should not be the one to bear the burden of her mother’s confusion.

Personally, I don’t care about what the parents are like as long as they raise the kid well. Being transgendered is NOT sick or wrong. They’re normal people like everyone else, just not comfortable in the gender they were born in. I hope the parents will be able to get through all this pointless hate and close-mindedness and live a good life.

It is so nice to see that the world and nature still has beautiful surprises for us in the future. The more we are different the more beautiful the full spectrum of the rainbow is to our eyes. With compassion, love and kindness his and her child will become a good individual despite the ideologically confused country will be born into and raised by. If I got a “Boob Job”, and fathered another child, would Opera invite me on her show? No, and I wouldn’t be a woman either. Having your breasts removed doesn’t make you a man. If she ever got sent to jail where would the cops put her? The inmates would be real happy or it would be a womens institute.
