I'm glad that the outbreak of histoplasmosis was actually identified in Iowa. So many times, "rare" lung diseases never get diagnosed, despite radiologist's correct diagnosis on one's chest X-Rays. Too many doctors with apparent ego problems prevent taking the radiologist seriously. Not all lung diseases act like the most common diseases, including the quick-acting deadly ones.

How long ago was the start of this increase of so many deases in the USA? Could be they are being "imported" from somewhere else, maybe as part of the terrorist movement??

Oh, the irony! Perhaps a nasty revenge plot by the tobacco industry. Sounds like a "novel" idea.

Why were the people attending the American Lung Aassociation at Terrace Hill?
Could it be the people had a reason to be concerned about their lungs, thus the reason for attending, and whatever they feared developed into a full-blown problem?

Ironic that it was traced to those who had attended an American Lung Association function at the mansion.

Hisotplasmosis is actually extremely common, "Approx. 80% of population living in areas with endemic disease is skin-test positive." (from wrongdiagnosis.com)
