If early germ cells taken from a women can be turned into sperm can she herself be fertilized with her own sperm. If so would this be CLONING??

The article points out that sperm from embryonic stem cells would not contain any DNA from the adult male. So how is this an improvement over the less glamorous current system of sperm donors? It is not an imporovement. It is simply a more costly and “scientific” way to achive the same end.

Viewed another way, that point does shed light on why embryonic stem cells are not a much more viable solution to transplant needs than the current wait for someone to die system. Proponents of embryonic stem cell research like ot point out better access to transplantable organs as one of the “miracle” cures that will be provided by embryonic stem cell research.

However, such organs will still be just as incompatible with the host body as cadaver provider ones so the recipient will still be required to take all the anti-rejection drugs.

Adult stem cell research is what will actually provide customized therapeutic remedies. It would be nice if more people would pay attention to the whole problem instead of just looking at which politician is against something before they are for it.

I think we’re treading on thin ice with this one……making the kind of genetic decisions that should probably be left up to God. I just don’t think He’ll like it very much.

Creating humans in a lab…very scary! Pretty soon we will just all live in a world with beautiful people and no originality.

In my opinion, science does NOT trump God. While I have an opinion about the science of all this, I believe that it just doesn’t matter. To agree with Leigh, I just don’t think God would be happy. He created Adam, and then created Eve. A man and a woman. That is the correct way to have a child. Just because something is possible does not mean that we should do it, or it is ethically and morally correct. For example, while a would not deny ANYONE happiness in this world, I will say that 2 women SHOULD NOT have a baby this way… It just is NOT natural. Some may think this thinking is old-fashioned, but I say that society on a whole has come to accept many things that are wrong.

Relativism is a VERY dangerous thing, and that is what has led us to this point. Truth is truth… Truth IS NOT what a group of people want to suit their life, lifestyle, etc. An example from a religious perspective is sex before marriage. Not too long ago MOST people, at least Catholics and some Christians, actually waited until they were married to have sex. Now, PORN STARS HAVE BECOME MAINSTREAM CELEBRITIES… People that were once thought TOTALLY DISGUSTING, have been accepted by far too many people. Their is a cultural picture of what a man and woman is supposed to be. Men are supposed to watch the game on Sunday, go to hooters, cheat on their SPOUSE if they are ‘unhappy’ because afterall it is the woman
fault he is not having sex, and men are supposed to drink beer and not do any housework.

Our society has spit in the face of Morality and it is doing it again!

God have mercy on us! How long will He put up with us? It’s time to stop trying to improve on God’s perfect creation plan.

The idea here is insane, kill a child for its embryonic stem cells in order to create artificial sperm with the goal of creating a child . . .

Why not wise up and keep the original child?

Many scientists really could use a person with a little common sense wandering around their labs smacking them in the head once in a while saying, “Hey dope, stop wasting our research money.”

The only useful treatments I’ve ever heard of come from adult stem cells, the researchers just can’t make as much money from them, so they invent crazy uses like this for embryos.

I feel we’re living with a scientific world run by Nazi doctors. Mengele would fit right in with these scientists. The research makes no useful sense, but they get to kill more people in the process (babies are real people), so it must be scientifically important.

Come Lord Jesus. The world is getting monsterous.

i really think that this is a major breakthrough in science. but i also think its crazy because then we won’t need men anymore. and they are to much fun to give up.
