Millions of Children Die World-Wide Due to Lack of Health Care
More than 200 million children worldwide do not get basic health care, leading to nearly 10 million deaths of children under the age of 5 annually from treatable ailments like diarrhea and pneumonia, a U.S.-based charity said Wednesday.
Nearly all of the deaths occur in the developing world, with poor children facing twice the risk of dying compared to richer children, according to Save the Children’s global report.
Sweden, Norway and Iceland top the ranking in terms of well-being for mothers and children in 146 countries surveyed, while Nigeria ranks last.
Eight out of 10 bottom-ranked countries are in sub-Saharan Africa, where four out of five mothers are likely to lose a child in their lifetime, Save the Children said.

As someone who lives in a country with the self-proclaimed “greatest health care system in the world”, and who has been denied health insurance due to my weight (I was once mistaken for the pro wrestler “The Undertaker” by his girlfriend) I can sympathize with the plight of these kids…it’s a risky thing to be without access to doctors or medicine if you become sick or injured…you have to learn to sew up your own wounds, use your dog’s medicine, etc.
Yet they still steal tax money from me to subsidize other people’s health insurance…yea, great system. These kids would do well to illegally immigrate to the U.S. where money stolen from me could subsidize them, too…
