British Man Needs Solution for Hiccuping Problem
Christopher Sands has tried everything: hypnotherapy, yoga, reiki, herbal medicine and an oxygen chamber.
But nothing has cured the 24-year-old’s hiccups, the Daily Mail reports on its Web site.
Sands, a resident of Lincoln in Lincolnshire, England, has been hiccupping for 15 months and is now considering surgery to try and cure his problem.

Tessalon perles have been effective for control of hiccups in my practice and I wonder if this has been tried. Of course control of the acid reflux and a complete work-up for rare etiologies of hiccups should be done.
I have suffered from long lasting hiccups my entire life. I have found that green mint ice cream
will make them subside. I don’t if it works for everyone but may be worth a try before surgery.
try a wedge of lemon with bitters splashed on it
Please don’t laugh, I do know of a cure! A great big tablespoon of peanut butter! I do not know why it works, but it has never failed. My father actually had to go to the hospital, because of hiccups. He was there about 2 weeks. He got them after a drinking binge. They would make his whole chest heave up, he had them so bad. Make sure you use creamy.
Good luck
Many times hiccups can be ‘cured’ by placing a teaspoon of dry coffee grounds on the very back of the tongue , and swallowing dry . If coffee is objectionable , coarse ground raw or white sugar will do the same. It is the action of dry swallowing that does the trick and the ‘cure’ is usually immediate. TH
I had Hiccups for eight days straight after a shot of Cortisone for Sciatica. Prevacid stopped mine. Also was shown a cool trick by a nurse after Hiccups started again during treatment for Pericarditis. Without touching…place your index fingers as close together as you can and concentrate on the space in between while you count to ten. (may require more time depending on how well you are concentrating) Good Luck
While this may seem trivial, this scenario resulted in my father’s decline and death three years ago. The gastroenterologist did an endoscopy and prescribed GERD treatment (even without noting valve or esophagus damage). My father lost weight and sleep over months, and eventually started aspirating food and drink, leading to pneumonia and a one-way trip to the hospital. There was some belated speculation that the problem was neurological, but insufficient testing to determine it–he died the day he was scheduled for brain scans. Chronic hiccups were obviously the symptom of a serious problem, but failure to find it was a death sentence for a good man.
Try drinking a large glass of water while holding your breath and with someone holding your ears tightly closed. It works for me every time.

Eat a Tablespoon of sugar while hangning your head upside down. Has NEVER failed me yet!!!
I have a brother who has a severe case of hiccups in Louisville Ky and is still under the care of a doctor. Mri’s,, brain scans, and gastrologiy tests have been done. The hiccups went away for a
week and are back. He has had these since November of 07 . He stays sick, throwing up and some-times hard to get is breath, chest soreness. He does have acid reflux and is taking medication. The
doctors seem to think that his stomach is not digesting properly. They are hesitant on operating, but
my brother is desparate. I feel for anyone going thru this, becuase it is devasting when no one knows what to do. If the operation for this person stops the hiccups please, please email me.
My brother works for the post office and they are continually sending him home becuase he gets sick and cannot hold down his food. He is becoming weak and sore from so much vomiting. He has been hospitalized 5 times this year. I pray to GOD some kind of miracle for him and others who are suffering with this.
Your all missing an important point…”He has undergone scans of his brain, chest and abdomen,…” & now he has the luxury of considering surgery…all in a country with socialized health insurance. According to Rush Limbaugh and other pundits, he should have died, starving in the waiting room.
I gave a “cure” for hiccups to a local Lake County doctor (Mentor Mednet) who printed it in a medical journal after testing it on a patient who had no results from other “cures”. If you’re able to pass it on to Chris, it is simple and not as risky as surgery. lt would also be quite a follow up story if it works for him:
1. Fill a glass with water
2. Cover the top of the glass with an ordinary paper towel
3. Drink the water from the cup through the paper towel for 10-20 seconds.
4. Repeat if necessary (it’s almost never necessary)
Try it for yourself and feel free to pass it on to your friends and family!
Thanks,
Robin
