Thank you K and Tami!

I am a former resident of Cameron, Missouri and now reside in Texas. On March 8, 2007 I was diagnosed with brain cancer and mine is malignant, but only a level 2.

My symptoms were also migraine headaches. I still have the migraines, but they are not nearly as bad as they used to be since I am undergoing chemo treatment.

My hope is that they will soon be able to determine what is causing this as well as offer the families a free screening test. This was very tough for my family but they have been so wonderful helping my husband, our kids, and myself handle this. Each day I pray for the people that have been diagnosed with cancer, not only in Cameron, but all over the world, because I do understand what they are going through. It is a very tough situation because you don't know what's going to happen.

I'm a very concerned mother of an inmate at the Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron. My son who is only 24 has had migraine heads up there for months, but the State will not do an MRI to see if it is Cancer related. All they do up there is just give them headache medicine and that is it. This is very alarming to me dueto the fact that the whole camp could be effected.
All of the workers there have been told to bring bottled to drink, whereas the inmate's have no choice but to drink public water which maybe putting their lives in danger. Why should they be treated any different?
I have been told that all of the doctors that work up there have that job due to the fact they have malpractice suits on them and have lost their own practice, or they have lost their licence to treat people in a licenced medical office or hospital.
Maybe the "Call for Action " News or a news team should investigate the prision itself, but of course they will just lie and do a cover up job. Can someone please help them????????

I have lived in Cameron, MO for the past 12 years and am now having to explain to my 12 and 8 year old daughters why cancer is being connected to Cameron. I feel the media is causing hysteria in this community and until there are further answers they are just rehashing this too much. My 8 year old cried her self to sleep last night scared that she will get a brain tumor. Please realize that all people, including children, are affected by this and creating panic is only causing damage. Brain tumors have always been around, as well as other cancers. There has been lots of forms of cancers in our community and other communities. Take a step back and look at the big picture. We will get answers but pointing fingers right now is not going to get us any where.

I live in Cameron and came home today to find a water testing kit on the front porch. Fill out a survey and send in a water sample. After doing a little checking it seems to come from a company who sells products to treat water in your home. I called City Hall to check it out and they said it was a legitimate business but they are not doing any work for the city.

Kent
Are you a doctor? Do you know what your blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol are? And if your sugar numbers are accurate, then I should be a pretty unhealthy person. But all my numbers are good. 5ft 8in 135lbs and cholesterol of 135. But I dang sure dont watch for refined sugars and I dang sure love my sweets. But holy crap, I'm killing myself even though my doc says i'm a good definition of healthy. I think you need to do a little more medical research, cause if you did, you would find that alot of medicine contradicts itself. Coca Cola will make you diabetic, but diet sodas cause cancer, and if you smoke weed you'll die even though they have yet to prove harmful effects of smoking marijuana

I moved to Cameron, MO seven months ago. I agree with "K" and "Tami". Most of the people are "good educated down-to-earth people" but they tend to be less financial secure. If a family member becomes sick and it is the fault of an outside entity they might be looking for relief from medical costs incurred and for the future. I am with Tami on that I would like my family to have "free public screenings for its residents".

I am not looking for a scapegoat but for the real problem therefore enabling us as a community and state to come up with real solutions. Hysteria and panic never help find solutions. Aggressive finger pointing usually doesn't either. But thinking, reasoning, objectivity, and discussion do tend to find answers. I appreciate people who aren't even effected coming up with possible avenues to follow in the search for solutions. Obviously some of them won't be the culprit but it's a start and continues to narrow the problem down. Thanks to the thinking public.

Thank you Tami!!!!

I am a Cameron Resident, and I have thought the exact same thing about the state giving us all the chance to be tested. I have 2 small children and have heard that one of their teachers has it and is in ICU, I am worried sick! We don't have the funds to be tested, so right now we are at a loss and are wanting answers or just peace of mind! There is little bottled water left in town also. It has been going like crazy at Walmart, they can't keep it on the shelves. I greatly appreciate you agreeing with me and many others on the situation!

It is my understanding that the Health Department has not yet been involved due to the fact that (so far) the tumors diagnosed are benign. With the growing reports of tumors and perhaps the possibility of numerous deaths(?) gone by as "natural causes" - maybe it's time the State steps in and makes available free public screenings for its residents. I have family there and as they express their fear of living in a community that is in fact contaminated with "something," they need at the very least, at this stage of the outbreak, peace of mind - not to mention a whole lot of bottled water while "the powers that be" find an expedient solution to cleaning up the area so that everyone in Cameron has a safe and healthy environment to live in.

The Associated Pressed reported in 2006 and again in 2008 that unregulated Endocrine Disruptors and Prescription Drugs found in Treated Wastewater are now showing up in our drinking water. They cited studies on fish and wildlife that demonstrated ill effects. They also stated that there was great concern for humans. Looks like the first of the human studies has started ... in Cameron.

Kent
Chill out on the sugar issue, if the cause turns out to be too much sugar, I bet that people eat less or none at all. I don't think that anyone is looking to sue anyone with deep pockets, all we are trying to do here is get our loved ones better and keep anyone else from being affected. I personally know all of the people who have a tumor or have had one removed, and not a word of suing anybody has been spoken. I don't think there is anyone to sue, who would purposely plant a carcinogen that would give all of these innocent people tumors?
Not everyone is sue-happy or stupid as you mentioned earlier. These are good educated down-to-earth people in a small town that want to be healthy. Nothing more nothing less, so it would be helpful if you would just give suggestions or helpful advice instead of coming up with nonsense.
Thanks
