Study: E. Coli, Staph Infections Linked to SIDS
A baffling phenomenon known as sudden infant death syndrome is one of the leading causes of death for children under 1. Now, British researchers say they may have found a contributing factor: bacteria.
They found potentially dangerous bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli in nearly half of all babies who died suddenly and without explanation over a decade at a London hospital. Their findings are in Friday’s Lancet medical journal.
“This may be another piece to the puzzle,” said Marian Willinger, a SIDS expert at the U.S. National Institute of Child Health and Human Development who was not connected to the British study.

I am so tired of SIDS RESEARCH. I don’t understand why someone doesn’t get on board with the Scientist/Dr. Sprott in New Zealand… duh it’s bacteria! He already figured that out, why is no one listening to him? He has a solution and I believe he is RIGHT! http://www.babesafe.com check it out and decide for yourself!
As a parent of a SIDS child I wish the answer was so simple. Unfortunately, there seems to be multiple causes for triggering the deaths.
With the thousands of autopsies and thousands of coroners world wide and still no clear answer.
It is possible the cause is a combination of conditions.
Possibly over heating with a neurological malfunction, along with an immature immune system. along with the involuntary muscles not responding with voluntary muscle reaction, the combination has numerous options.
100, 200 years ago we did not have man made materials and SIDS was occurring.
Is it possible there is a genetic tendency that has not yet been identified.
If I remember correctly overlaying is mentioned in the Book of Kings.
Our Little Randy died on May 6, 1988. He was 5 1/2 months old and had been in and out of the hospital with a cold (virus infection). On May 6, 1988 I received a call at work from a police dispatcher. I got to the hospital, which seemed so far away, running in the room at the ER to see Little Randy being revived by the “thumpers”. Who would believe it was SIDS. What is SIDS I asked. Little was known to find out why my baby just stopped breathing. My husband and I participated in the SIDS organization in Phoenix. One of the nurses who was active in the organization took me aside and told me what she thought happened. Since Little Randy died at our babysitters during an afternoon nap sucking on his bottle, sitting at an angle in a big chair, she strongly believes he died of sleep apnea. You see after I gave birth by C-section a doctor came in an asked if I has sleep apnea and should have a sleep study done. On January 2, 1992 we had a baby boy, Nathan. I decided to have the sleep study and “Pulmonary Associates” not only found I had sleep apnea but also restless leg syndrome.
I was told that you can’t find any difference between SIDS and Sleep Apnea through an autopsy. Is this true? And what about the study of the brain stem not developing properly, which was conducted in Calif?
Today, Nathan is a healthy 16 year old.
SIDS seems to occur soon after vaccinations in a number of cases. It would seem to be prudent to investigate vaccines as a possible cause of “SIDS”. You can read some of the cases in the VAERS Database:
http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/findfield.php?LOWAGE=&HIGHAGE=&VAX=&SEX=&VAXCNT=&STATE=&VAXMAN=&VAX_DATE_LOW=&VAX_DATE_HIGH=&VAXLOT=&ONSET_DATE_LOW=&ONSET_DATE_HIGH=&VAXDOSE=&SUB_DATE_LOW=&SUB_DATE_HIGH=&VAXROUTE=&REPORT_DATE_LOW=&REPORT_DATE_HIGH=&VAXSITE=&L_THREAT=&PRIOR_VAX=&ER_VISIT=&CUR_ILL=&HOSPITAL=&HISTORY=&X_STAY=&SYMPTOMS=sids&RECOVD=&LAB_DATA=&DISABLE=&OTHER_MEDS=&DIED=&V_ADMINBY=&DEATH_DATE_LOW=&DEATH_DATE_HIGH=&V_FUNDBY=&PAGENO=1&action=Find&PERPAGE=10&SORTING=NONE
I hope the above link works, but if not, one can access the database by googling “search vaers database” and listing “SIDS” or “Sudden Infant Death Syndrome” in the Symptom section. You will find over 1,000 reports for SIDS following vaccination(s).
I am SO HAPPY that they are researching SIDS. I don’t know if we will ever truly know what causes our precious little babies to die so young but I knowing that there is still research going on helps to put my mind and my heart at ease a little bit. My daughter died when she was two weeks old and I pray that in her memory more research can be done so that families will not have to go through the pain that I have felt. My family participated in the Spring For Sids a fundraiser to help further SIDS research. I hope that they are on to something here and maybe someday we will be able to prevent this horrible tragedy even if right now it seems like its on the same level and curing cancer.
