Young Boy Beats the Odds

A 7-year-old boy from South Wales, who has a genetic syndrome that is known to affect just seven in the world, has emerged from a sealed “bubble” and is seemingly cured, doctors say.

Rhys Harris spent two months in a bubble while doctors used chemotherapy to kill off his immune system, followed by a bone marrow transplant to give him a new one.

The boy was diagnosed at age 3 with a genetic mutation called NEMO, or Nuclear Factor Kappa B Essential Modulator mutation, which causes recurrent bacterial infections and abnormalities to the hair, teeth, nails, sweat glands, cranial-facial structure and other body parts.

Who says God does not work miracles?
Here’s some more proof that does!

A piece of good news! Rare enough these days. I hope it is as wonderful as it seems for him and his family.
If god created a miracle, what gave the child the problem to begin with?

There has been a magnitude of miracles. More proof that the Messiah’s return is nearly at hand. Google current miracles and be humbled and amazed. Joy!

I just want to mention that the hospital involved is the Newcastle General Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Their Paediatric Immunology unit is known as the Bubble Unit, and is one of only two such units in the whole of the UK. They have an associated charity known as the Bubble Foundation which raises money for toys, equipment, training and research.

Congratulations to the team!

Jon raises a very good and complicated question (in other words, why does God allow or seemingly cause bad things to happen?). My thoughts… Two years ago my son was born. Two months after that, my dad had a stroke and was in the hospital for 9 months, my sister-in-law had a manic episode that lasted 3 months, and toxic mold was found in my parents’ house all within the same month. I was pretty upset at what God was “allowing” or “causing” me to go through. Moreover, I followed Jesus; I lived it out in my actions and words, and I just had a brand new baby. Why me? Why anyone?
Now, I’m still a work in progress as far a emotional recovery goes, but one of the many things I have realized over the last 2 years is that just because something is “difficult” or “bad” doesn’t mean that God has forsaken you; in fact it’s just the opposite, He hurts right along with you and is by your side every step of the way. He allow difficult things to happen so that we can grow in ways that we might not be able to otherwise. I have such a greater appreciation for life now; being in such emotional pain has allowed me to see beauty in things now that I would never have seen before; I value things differently and have different priorities now. I no longer fear painful things like I did before, because I know that I will grow from it, and I know that I will be able to make it through the next painful thing in life because of my experiences.
So in short, God allow painful and bad things to happen to us to help us grow as individuals, to greater reveal Himself through miracles, and so that other people (like us on this blog) can take heart that God is good even when life is not. I wouldn’t ask for my experiences to happen again, but in the end I am thankful for the life lessons I have learned from them.

May God watch over you and your son and have a great life, for this is a blessing. This news is so good to hear in the times our world is having a hard time with so much.

This is just amazing and neat to see when technology works! It sure would be nice to see more stories like this that affirm the good in the world…

My youngest daughter was born with SCIDS, she was in and out of the bubble in less than a year also. She is now 21 years old. It is amazing what science has accomplished in the past 21 years.

A miracle is an occurrence that cannot happen through natural means or by man’s efforts. God used miracles in Old and New Testament times to convince people of His (and Jesus and the apostles) involvement in a particular situation. Miracles do not occur today. God blesses us, doctors find cures, prayer is answered, but not miraculously. Miracles were no longer necessary after God’s complete and perfect word was given to us in the form of the Bible.

Stories like this are happening daily from a Lakeland, FL Healing Revival going on. Check out the MSNBC news story regarding all these notable miracles happening.
