13-Year-Old Boy Suffers Temporary Paralysis From Tick Bite
A 13-year-old boy from Washington State suffered temporary paralysis after he was bitten by a tick.
According to the Seattle Times, Daniel Smith awoke last Tuesday unable to get out of his bed, lift his leg or swallow.
Doctors, who discovered the tick along his hairline, quickly determined that he was suffering from tick paralysis.
The condition is relatively rare and goes away fairly quickly — usually within 24 hours — once the parasite is removed, according to the report.
However, about 10 percent of victims die from respiratory paralysis if the tick is not removed in time.
The condition is most common in Western states, the Rocky Mountains and Western Canada, Rebecca Baer, an epidemiologist for the Washington State Department of Health, told The Seattle Times.

I would like to know what kind of tick this.In the Eastern part of this country we have Deer ticks, and another type,[the name skips my mind] that give people and dogs Lyme Disease. The Deer tick is the one that gives Lyme Disease.
Thanks,Howard Kritzberger Sr.
i found a tick in the hairline of my neighbors little girl and i pulled it with tweezers
A year ago I also suffered a tick bite. I discovered it and with the help of my husband we removed it. I put it in a tissue and then a plastic bag. I called the doctor the next day and when she saw the size I was put on two weeks of antibiotics. I had fever, muscle pain ,nausea and head aches. I was one of the lucky ones who found it in time, kept the pest in the baggie for evidence and went to the doctor. Please make sure to call your doctor as this can be a life long problem if you ignore it and don’t treat it. Also forgot to mention about using tweezers to remove, you might break the ticks head off and it could still be infecting you so please make sure you see a doctor even if you think you “got it all”. Just a person who knows because I have been there. I also live in PA but think I picked it up in NC on vacation.
