Italian Doctors Suspected of Performing Unnecessary Surgeries

Police have arrested 13 doctors from a clinic in Milan who investigators suspect performed needless and sometimes fatal operations to make more money.

Police said Tuesday the charges resulting from the investigation of Santa Rita Clinic ranged from fraud to homicide.

Three of the doctors were arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly having performed on several patients “abnormal or invasive surgeries, without taking into consideration the fragility of the patients because of age or their medical condition,” the police statement said.

Police officials said five patients at the clinic are believed to have died after suspected needless surgeries. A hospital official was also arrested, police said.

Unfortunately, we should not be surprised at these “horror stories” about doctors, hospitals or the whole medical establishment. You should consider the following facts that are not in dispute; Doctors and other medical professionals are involved in the multi-billion dollar body parts business around the world, sometimes stealing those body parts from patients and non-patients alike, dead or alive. Approx. 10% of medical professionals mistreat and/or abuse and/or assault (physically and/or sexually) their patients. Approx. 5-10% of medical professionals have a drug and/or alcohol abuse problem, the same rates as the rest of our society. In Canada, this means that we have approx. 25,000 (twenty five thousand) medical professionals who have alcohol and /or drug abuse problems. In fact, if you happen to be one of the thousands of the monthly patient/victims in Canada, you may have a medical “procedure” or even surgery performed on you by a doctor/surgeon who is drunk or on some drug. While you are asleep and cut open on the operating table you may have some body part removed without your permission; this is a very rare crime in north america but it does happen. You have to get over the myth that our “western” medical professionals are more “moral” or “scrupulous” than those in poorer, third world countries where body parts stealing is a regular occurance.
