Marijuana Poses More Health Risks
Marijuana potency increased last year to the highest level in more than 30 years, posing greater health risks to people who may view the drug as harmless, according to a report released Thursday by the White House.
The latest analysis from the University of Mississippi’s Potency Monitoring Project tracked the average amount of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in samples seized by law enforcement agencies from 1975 through 2007. It found that the average amount of THC reached 9.6 percent in 2007, compared with 8.75 percent the previous year.
The 9.6 percent level represents more than a doubling of marijuana potency since 1983, when it averaged just under 4 percent.

I just do not understand our gov. It is no worse than smoking and i do not see them banning that or alcohol. If there were people in Washington giving money to the congress like with tobacco alcohol, gas company’s and automakers I know for a fact it would be legal in the united states. Our country allows our over the hill congress who only know scare tactics. (I am a devote Republican Only pull one lever when I vote) We need to over throw our own government elect people under 35 and see where we go from there.
I hate the way Our country as of right now evaluates what is and what is not important. O’Reily needs to run and maybe we would get change in this crappy congress we have had for way too long.
We the people not we our congress.
Everytime I read an article about marijuana it deals with teens. No one believes teens should smoke pot. But if an adult wants to smoke marijuana in their own home, they should be able. I don’t drink but I like to take a hit every once in a while.
Where can I get some?
Why do you media types continue to reprint these ONDCP propaganda “reports” without question?
Would it be too hard or too much actual doing your job to fact check them?
First, higher THC levels means less smoking (the only real danger associated with pot), therefore the higher the THC level the safer the pot.
Secondly THERE IS NO DATA on pot from the 60s. None. They make this data up by testing pot that was laying around from the 60s in the 90s! Of course it’s not the same!
The best two word explanation for marijuana’s rabid prohibition in this country is “Bad Journalism”.
It may be time to legalize Pot. The Government could regulate the strength of it and tax the hell out it. If they didn’t get carried away they would complete shut down the illegal trade.
Well you could always just smoke less for the same high as most do…I guess logic is beyond our government. They’d rather just make everyone afraid of the big bad weed. You’d think they’d be all over legalizing so they could tax the heck out of it(ahem healthcare, our INSANE deficit, and social security all could be affected by this rather drastically). Legalization also leads to regulation. So we wouldn’t be looking at these super pots and laced garbage. Not to mention the increased complacency of stoners would play right into the Gov’s hands. We’re the joke; let the rest of the world laugh.
How long is this “Reefer Madness” mentality going to exist in this country? I think it’s funny that I had to suffer through Chantix to quit smoking cigarettes, and they’re legal. However, something that is not physically addictive (and no, there has not been a 100% conclusive study to support this) is highly illegal. What it comes down to is that there are too many benefits for our government and police state financially and politically to keeping marijuana illegal.
When are the Drug Czars of this country going to use the data that supports the research that Marijuana is not a gateway drug. Mr. Walters cited the “potential for users to become dependent on drugs such as cocaine and heroin.” The Institue of Medicine under the commision of Gen. MCCaffrey’s office in the Clinton years concluded that marijuana “does not appear to be a gateway drug” along with the RAND Institues finding that the gateway theory is “not the best explanation” of the link between marijuana use and hard drugs. The same old tired fear mongering approach to drug prevention hasn’t worked for the past 30 years. Until the government makes a stand against alcohol and cigarette abuse in this country they have no credibility in my eyes. The previous responder was dead on with his opinion that all that really matters in Washington is which lobbyist is stuffing their pockets the most. Congress and the Bush Administration with their pathetic approval ratings need to take a hard look at what is really important in our country today.
The U.S. government has been screaming that “the sky is falling” regarding cannabis use for decades. Millions of citizens know it’s a lie and that the screams of alarm are laughable. What is not laughable is the thousands of lives affected and destroyed, not by cannabis, but by POLICY. Cannabis is no more a gateway to use of harder drugs than breathing is a gateway to death. Saying so is simply POLICY. Still a lie, but lying is POLICY. The Federal government has made prostitutes of law enforcement agencies across the country. If one is stopped by police, it is automatically assumed that one is transporting drugs. It would be far more lucrative to government coffers to regulate and tax cannabis than by court levied fines for “manufacturing”, distribution, and use.
I do not understand why the government continues to advocate implicitly that cannabis sale and distribution should be the domain of “others” who retain all the revenue. Drugs like money, greed, power, staying in political office, methamphetamines, heroin, alcohol…these ARE harmful and unhealthy. Cannabis? Well, it is literally laughable.
You never hear of a man beating up his wife or kids when smoking pot!!
Only drinking. And drinking is legal!!!!and it kills people every day
Lies Lies lies we all know that the pharmaceutical company have something to do with this article, marijuana have less of a health risk than they claim to have, marijuana is more good than bad. Legalizing marijuana means less money for the pharmaceutical money hungry company. More people are smoking marijuana because they know the truth and see through the lies that articles like this present, this is just another scare tactics that our government likes to present to you just to make their pockets fat or someone or company pockets fat. America, do your own research and judge for yourself.
Stronger Pot. Isn’t that the point? Lets alocate more money from the war on drugs to feeding our homeless and fixing our crappy economy. Get a real job you right wing guidance counselors!
Seriously, this is not what I consider a major concern with everything else we have going on. I used to enjoy the herb when I was younger but, then I grew up and had to get a real job. As far as I’m concerned it ought to be better…your paying twice as much for the sh!t.
LEGALIZE IT!!!
This is coming from one who is considered by his contemporaries to be a conservative. In my own family, I have lost 4 adult males to the evils of alcohol. Two of these died on the streets as vagrant addicts to a legal drug.
I have several friends who are casual pot smokers. Most of these people are creative, well-read and kind people. Go to any bar or professional sporting event and count the number of obnoxious and sometimes violent drunks – all fueled by their legal drug-of-choice.
“The illegal immigrant problem”, unemployment and new sources of tax revenues – you want a quick an easy answer to these problems? LEGALIZE IT!!! This will create jobs in agriculture, packaging and transportation. Why would illegal immigrants from Mexico wade across a river or travel in the back of an overheated truck bed to pick lettuce and strawberries when they could stay home with their loved ones (and with the cooperation of the Mexican government) grow a strong exportable crop at home?
I have also talked with many a Georgia and Alabama farmer whom would never use cannabis but would welcome the opportunity to grow the crop. “I could make more money off a few hundred square feet than I do on several acres of any other crop”, I was told by one.
Alcohol and tobacco are legal due in part to the fact that people want them to be. That’s the American way and I’m fine with that. But there is also a large portion of our population who choose to use marijuana. These individuals should be afforded the same choice, and not be treated as a criminal class.
Just another hit piece attempting to reinforce failing prohibition laws.
How could higher potency result in more damage to the lungs when generally less smoke is inhaled?
“The increases in marijuana potency are of concern since they increase the likelihood of acute toxicity, including mental impairment”
Who writes this fantasy garbage? If we’re talking toxicity, why are there absolutely no cases of death by overdose?
Why is there never any discussion of the seemingly infinite grades and varieties of cannabis (“marijuana’s” REAL name) ,as if to say that ALL available cannabis is extremely potent, which any casual user will tell you is not the case. Let’s all wake up and smell the herb: if we Take into consideration all the effects of cannabis, both short term and long term, it always amounts to something much less dangerous than its legal recreational brother, Alcohol, and is well within the realm of PERSONAL CHOICE.
ps. Hemp is known to have the greatest potential for making bio-fuels, with corn being a particularly bad source, it kinda makes you think about who REALLY has vested interest in continued prohibition of CANNABIS.
Finally!!! a true good news story!!!
Hell YEA! It’s about time we legalized it! Propaganda is the right word to use for these so called reports. What a crock of crap the government has been shoveling down our throats for years. I say we need to get rid of the old spend and tax cronies in our government, those fat lazy crooked a@&holes who only take take take from all of us and do nothing in return but pass these stupidly mind numbing laws that benefit no one but them. Those jerks are the biggest lawbreakers there are and never get prosecuted because our taxes pay for the lawyers who defend them. Legalize marijuana now and get rid of all the politicians over 55 for the sake of our country!!!!!
For the life of me I just don’t understand this government’s’ misinformation campagin concerning marijuana. As a marijuana smoker of the past forty years I have not seen pot potency change much from the 60’s. On the contrary, pot potency, I feel, has diminished in strength from that time. I think this is due to the fact that more inexperienced home growers are flooding the market with pot that has not been cultivated to its full potential.
How many die each year from cigarettes????????????? How many die each year from cocaine??????????? Prescription drugs?????????? OTC’s???????????? What about alcohol related deaths????????????????? Car accidents?????? Shootings??????????????? But this PLANT is still illegal?!! WT hell??????????????????????????????????????????????????????/
I don’t think it is a good idea to do any drugs. I include alcohol in this statement. I live in Tucson, Arizona and am close to a lot of the criminality and violence surrounding the illegal drug trade. After years of watching the failure of anyone to put a dent in this, I am now for the legalization, regulation and taxation of pot. I believe that if it were legal, it would actually be more difficult for minors to get a hold of it. (All it took to get a bag in the 70s was a telephone call). Legalizing and controlling it would put an awful lot of bad people out of business.
I guess my comment doesn’t count since Fox won’t post it
This article is BS. Maybe the pot nowadays is more potent, but as every pot smoker knows, the better it is the less you inhale. If one hit does the trick, that’s great, my stash will last longer. I’ve been smoking since around 1984 and I have a great job, pay my taxes, and contribute to my community raising money for charities and education. Its about time for the Government to wise up and stop wasting time and money on failed, inacurate, and outdated drug policy. I’m not saying we need to legalize any “hard” drugs like heroin, cocaine, or halucinogens, but come on Congress, marijuana is safer than booze, less harmful than cigarettes, and if done correctly could be the savior of a failing farm industry in many parts of the country. The benefits of growing it far outweigh any negative impact it may have. The economic impact alone is reason enough to legalize it, it would create thousands of jobs, generate billions in taxes that we are not collecting now, reduce crime, and make our borders safer by eliminating the need to smuggle it into the country. Why isn’t this happening already you ask, because it will hurt the Pharmecutical companies by reducing the demand for their pills! Of course they could buy it and distribute it but they don’t want to. I’m grandstanding, sorry, it just pisses me off when pot gets a bad rap, I will be a dedicated advocate of marijuana until I die, maybe I’ll die of lung disease, oh well, thats my CHOICE, screw the Health care industry if they don’t like it, and the insurance companies, I pay my premiums and make my contribution to society, so if you don’t like it, eff you. Communist bastards.
Someone said here to Legalize it…. if that’s done; there is more to be concerned about. The average person doesn’t realize that more than humans are using it. Humans are using it on animals for other competitive needs….like horses, dogs, etc.
I wonder if legalizing it would make the animal situation even worse.
What do you think?
More overblown Hokey propaganda sponsored by the liars in Washington. I have a 14 yr old and the way the schools and government braiwash them should be a crime. When was the last time we saw PSA about Meth? Talk to any Dr or nurse and they will tell you how debilitating it is and is the #1 evil (short of Bush) in our country. nothing will change until these old horses are sent to pasture and the lobbying by the tobacco and Alcohol industry is stopped. Legalize it, tax it and you will find that the budget defecit given to our gradchildren by our current administration will be gone in no time. Quit printing such slander and lies. Wise up
The Alcohol industry plays a big role in keeping Marijuana illegal by funding groups like the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. The reason you don’t see any criticism of the drug war on TV is that the advertisers like Alcohol don’t want you anyone to see such criticism in the form of PSAs. Even though Alcohol kills over 4,000 young people annually from AOD and pot throughout history hasn’t killed one person, the media latches on to reports like this one from the White House without any meaninful counterpont or critical analysis.
Inspite of this lack of scrutiny by the media, the tide of drug policy is slowly changing for the better. The better being a system that’s regualated, controlled and taxed. The spreading of Medical Marijuana in America is an important component toward that change.
Yes it is all lies, corrupted data, what ever you want to call it, It is very wrong, because everyone who smokes cannabis knows, there is bad weed, good weed and great weed. The best weed I ever came across was grown in Florida, outside in the fresh air, and in the 80’s, twenty years ago.
This report is a propaganda lie, comparing low to middle grade cannabis, to high grade cannabis.
You don’t see peppers having more capsaicine, or carrots having more beta caradine every year do you, so why would you believe this lie?
What about coffee, do the beans contain more caffine each year? NO!
Wake up people, we need to fire everyone in our government, and start over. It is supposed to be for the people, by the people, but somehow got lost, now it is just, controling the people with lies, and scare tactics. We must act now before we, completely lose our freedom.
Don’t legalize pot. We have enough losers in this country as it is. We all have seen these heavy pot users. They’re lazy and not the smartest people in the world.
I think this countrys government is beyond stupid and should get off their lazy asses and do some real research and they will realize that marijuana is just a plant, not a drug, and make it legal for everyone to enjoy.
This drives me crazy. Just read the comments and you know it is time to legalize it. They can’t find one thing wrong with it. There are other ways to use it besides smoking, and not a single death has ever contributed to cannabis use. And for the real kicker, they want studies done but won’t let anyone have cannabis so they can perform the studies . Just like how the originally Marihuana Tax Act of 1937. And what about Pot Shrinks Tumors.
AGAIN…. The government has no idea what they are talking about. Go smoke a joint and then do your research. I watched my brother die of cancer and my stepmother thank god medical marijuana was available to them. The government is just a waste of taxpayers money.
Marijuana’s potency is an example of evolution in action.
it’s good thing the gov’t is still trying to keep marijuana off he streets! people should only be allowed to poison themselves with far more harmful drugs that the gov’t can make money on….like cigarettes and alcohol.
Government stupidity never fails to shock me. The reason pot is more potent is because it isn’t regulated by the government. People smoke pot instead of drink alcohol to relax because pot ISN’T A POISON.
ALCOHOL IS A POISON.
Hey EMPEROR, YOUR NAKED dumb ass.
We should legalize it! After these numb skulls elect Obama we will need it to kill the pain of hunger and job loss. We will also need it to keep our heads “clear” of all the bull he and his mindless followers will be spouting!
Everyone here must be a pot smoker. I know several potheads, some are intelligent some are not.
Hemp/Cannabis is considered a weed right? and weed’s grow any where. Is it possible to convert Hemp fibers into biodiesel?
I know many potheads. Some are intelligent some are not. The stipid ones smoke more pot overall, than do the intelligent ones. This has been my observation. Yes, there may be exceptions that every pothead will site to as their excuse for lighting up a joint but there are far more Jeff Spicoli’s than Albert Einsteins when it come to pot smokers and drinkers for that matter.
Yes, but people smoke less now. The herb with the high amounts of thc is so sticky it is impossible to roll a blunt, or a joint. The only way to successfully smoke it, is in a bowl. Smokers are smoking LESS, paying more, and getting better satisfaction… legalize the herb.
every post is for weed, not against it. our “government”, of “by, for, and OF the people”…wtf happened to THAT? we are doomed by our governors who cannot see the most obvious. durr..screw it…wheres my bong…
Joke of a story….
Who would you rather have to confront on a dark street late at night, a guy high off pot or a guy high off booze?
This is good news, because you don’t have to smoke as much.
More government propaganda trying to justify an unjust cause. Makes me ill. “GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!”
Isn’t it odd that ALL of these comments so far are FOR marijuana and not against it? That in itself should tell you something. I am SO sick of reading articles about pot being a gateway drug! I’ve never known anyone (including myself) to use pot and then go on to harsher things or real drugs such as heroine or cocaine. The people who use these drugs use them because they want that type of high, not because they once smoked pot! I’ve NEVER, EVER known anyone to overdose or die from smoking pot. Heroine, meth and coke, yes, but not pot. And as for teenagers, they shouldn’t be smoking pot anymore than they should be using alcohol! I’m with Steve…enough of this “Refer Madness” mentality. Why not explore the benefits of pot more and perhaps the useage of the pot plant (ie., hemp) for a more efficient/alternate fuel source?
HEY BUSH…. you want to improve your rating and keep the republicans in office…THIS IS THE WAY – LEGALIZE AND TAX IT!!!!
Let them grow it – so we can freely smoke it! We need to look to our European counterparts where pot is already legalized and learn how to apply that to our country.
You want to have less people in prison?? Legalize it!!
You want to fix the Social Security coffers for hard working Americans… Legalize it!!!
You want to end the WAR on DRUGS?? Legalize it!!! Spend more time and money to fight against hard drugs that addict and kill then chasing down marijuana dealers/users.
Alcohol is the “drug” that should be illegal….it kills and hurts every minute of the day – when a drunk driver is on the road or beating up a spouse or their child….
POT IS A MELLOW EUPHORIC drug that does not make people angry!!!
once again, its the scam artists in the media and government that are swaying the minds of those weak minded people who make decisions solely on what is printed.
Sick.
Legalize it.
THATS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!!
(just not the fed)
In my forties now and I guess I still have not stepped through the mystical “gateway” to other drugs. Casual smoker for more then half my life, as most of my acquaintances, and those who aren’t still don’t understand the goverments BS. Yes, it’s more potent now but you definitely smoke less. Is it any worse then those who have a 3 martini lunch/dinner? I am not aware of any AA for pot smokers but I’m sure some shrink has sucked the $$$ out of healthcare trying to rescue someone from pot smoking and probably prescribed some “legal” drug made by big pharma with only a dozen or so side effects, to help them through their crisis. If you not stuffing the pockets of congress your voice is been quite muffled in todays’ goverment.
To end where I started, the mystical gateway today is right in most people’s medicine cabinets. Kids may smoke pot but the pain killers that they’re dying from taking come from mon/dad and BIG PHARMA with the FDA in their pocket and evey doc eager to right the script so BIG PHARMA can take care of them also. I’ve seen big pharma’s workings from the inside at a high level, young and nieve at the time, left and will never go back.
LEGALIZE IT!!!
Everyone keeps saying the government could make a huge profit off of taxing marijuana. I disagree and let me explain. The legalized drugs in this country (alcohol, tobacco & even caffeine) are not very easy or cost effective to produce at home whereas marijuana can easily be grown in the privacy of the home. The government would not be able to tax this as much as the others because the public could easily grow it if the cost became too prohibitive. I’m going to get into a little conspiracy theory but if you look at it you have 2 sides that do not want this to be legal because they will not profit…one being the illegal drug dealers who would stand to lose billions if it were legal…two would be the government, who either receive money now or has in the past to keep this illegal. Pharmaceutical companies may not want it legal either but there will always be a market for that so I don’t believe it is to the extent that some people believe it to be.
And let’s not get hell bent on believing this is illegal because of Republicans. I am as right wing as can be but I believe that it should be legalized.
Reading the headline of the article, I thought to myself, “how much do you bet this report is from a government source?”
Here is what I want.. no, what I DEMAND happen.
All alcohol in the entire country banned, taken off the market, right now.
Why?
If the game the government is reportedly playing is to look out for destructive effects of substances on people, then all alcohol has to be pulled prior to pot.
There is no question whatsoever that alcohol has caused more car crashes, more wife beatings, more incest, more broken families, more destructive addiction than anything that pot could ever have done.
This drug policy is supposed to protect the public. Alcohol is confirmed to also kill brain cells. So why is it legal?
Because in fact, the same legislators that work to ban pot are boozing it up in off hours and would sooner die than to give it up. So they criminalize the less destructive, naturally-ocurring substance instead – while people routinely drive around over the legal alcohol limit.
This is a class war that started during the 60’s. The love generation embraced pot, and rejected government, and the government decided that they would outlaw all recreational drugs that generation was using, while continued to abuse their own.
More bunk journalism. Smoking cigarettes and cigars is much more of a health hazard. Fuck the government can’t control itself. A healthy dose of patriot blood maybe the only remedy.
Let’s quit putting average people in prison for something natural . Just think of the tax cuts we could get if only real criminals went to jail!!!!!
It is ridiculous to claim marijuana is ‘toxic’ as the drug czar does in this article, because it has never, ever, been shown in any medical journal to have caused the death or poisoning of anyone. Ever. So it’s even stupider to imply that a rise in potency is somehow dangerous. You smoke, you get high. How much you smoke is largely irrelevant. It’s not like alcohol, which is sold at potencies ranging from n/a, near 0% to grain alcohol, near 100%, and can easily kill you if you drink too much. Why not legalize pot and label the contents if they’re so concerned? That has to be more efective for increasing the safety of millions of U.S. consumers than continuing a half-hearted prohibition. You could even dedicate a portion of the tax revenues to offering treatment for marijuana ‘addicts’, if they don’t get laughed out of the room like the Bob Sagget scene in the movie ‘Half Baked’.
Legal pot would be awesome. I could see going to the store. “Hey buddy, how much for that carton of Marlboro 420’s?”
Oooooh, I’m scared! The ILLEGAL pot is around 9% THC. Oh horrors!! Yet, the LEGAL drug Marinol is 100% THC. So, are they saying that less THC is MORE harmful?
What cracks me up is the stupidity of the study. If you substitue pot for alcohol, the message is that whiskey has more alcohol than beer! So your government thinks that if you drink a couple of beers to unwind, now you’ll drink two glasses of WHISKEY to unwind. But I digress, there is a difference: Alcohol can kill you, THC cannot.
The truth is that higher THC pot means less inhalation, where one joint got your dad high, you now only need a couple of drags. Saves you money AND you inhale less carcinogens. Ooooh, scary health hazzard!!!
There’s only two kinds of people who want pot outlawed: those who don’t believe in ANY form of intoxication, and those whose livleyhood depends on it. Those of you in the first group, God bless you and I hope you live long healthy lives. Those in the other group, you disgust me. You are profiting by the suffering from every family affected by marijuana arrests. Most pot smokers are otherwise law abiding citizens, with pot as their only “crime”. It is unfair and morally unjustfiable to punish these people for private behavior that harms no one.
Pot prohibition is just more proof that the government distrusts its people and wants to keep us in fear of it. The liberal are right about one thing: Big Brother IS watching you. It is almost ACCEPTABLE behavior for us to pee in a cup in front of a stranger so that they can find out what you’re doing on your OWN time. If your employer wants to regulate your time off, by golly, they better PAY you for it. The way I figure, if you’ve not smoked marijuana in 30 days (which is what the test will show) then they owe you 512 hours of OVERTIME. And remember 192 hours of that is double overtime for the weekends!!
P.S. I voted for both Bushes. I’m trying to like McCain, but seeing that he supports the continued persecution of marijuana PATIENTS, I just can’t make myself vote for him. The ONLY reason I like Obama is that he openly supports marijuana policy reform, but I disagree on him at nearly every other turn. So the question is, do I support someone who wants to fight terrorists AND Americans, or someone who wants to try to reason with terrorists and stop arresting the sick and dying? Someone know of any OTHER candidates?
This drives me crazy. Just read the comments and you know it is time to legalize it. They can’t find one thing wrong with it. There are other ways to use it besides smoking,
and not a single death has ever contributed to cannabis use. And for the real kicker, they want studies done but won’t let anyone have cannabis so they can perform the studies . Just like how the originally Marihuana Tax Act of 1937. And what about Pot Shrinks Tumors.
It is a scientifically proven fact that the nicotine in tobacco is much, much more dangerous and hazardous to ones health then the THC in marijuana, and that alcohol poisoning kills more people per year than marijuana, and lung cancer is one of the largest killers world wide. So why is marijuana illegal in so many countries? If anything, marijuana should be legal and tobacco should be made illegal.
The facts speak for themselves, Marijuana and all the drug laws were made because of racism. The war on drugs is a multi billion dollar business. Pharma companies make marinol which is based from marijuana butthe government claims ithas no medical value? then why would they allow marinol on the market?Theold saying money talks……..bullshitwalks.
This study that this article talks about is flawed. Samples from Law enforcement??? Soone year they test some dirt weed and the next some wicked white widow? Its not a fair comparison.
They say they wants us to smoke less? Dr. Mitch Earleywine, who teaches psychology at the State University of New York in Albany and serves as an adviser for marijuana advocacy groups. “Stronger cannabis leads to less inhaled smoke,” he said. Well we are!!!!!!!
Caffeine is worse. yet it is allowed to be ingested by children with every can of coca cola. Starbucks is on every corner because people need their caffeine.
All I need is my 2 joints when i wake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s take advice from Bobby Dylan” Everybody must get stoned!!!” (exhale) PS rock on Tommy Chong
In all honesty, John Walters needs to do his homework. I don’t understand how a goofball like him can have such a position. Number one, recent studies show that marijuana not only slows the onset of Alzymer’s (speaking of the apparent mental disorders marijuana causes) but also cures some aspects of it. Marijuana smoking is also better on the lungs than cigarette smoke, as it has elements that can prevent cancer cells from setting in. Number 2, it has been proven by colleagues of Dr. Earlywine that smoking stronger marijuana makes smokers need less to obtain a high, so where is the harm there? We need to take on marijuana as we took on alcohol in the past-regulate, tax, and legalize it for consumption for responsible adults. Besides, when was the last time a pot smoker died of liver cancer? OPEN YOUR EYES WASHINGTON!!! YOUR CHILDREN ARE PROBABLY DOING WORSE DRUGS THAN A HARMLESS PLANT!!!
I agree with everyone here. Marijuana has been proven in many other studies to have positive effects on people who might suffer from cancer or other illnesses. It helps reduce pain, and among other things, helps someone in pain relax.
What I’m tired of is our own government telling it’s citizens what it can or can’t put in their own bodies. I assumed that this being a “free country” meant that we have the right, as tax paying adults, to put what we want in our own bodies. I don’t think that the governments job is to police what people do on their own time.
Let’s look at soms facts, since Fox is known for eliminating them most times. There are more people in prison today for simple drug use or possession, who have no other criminal records, and have otherwise been model citizens of society. There are child molesters who receive probation, yes PROBATION, for ruining a childs life and tearing a family apart, but those who wish to consume a plant that can be grown virtually everywhere are burdened with a criminal record and punished.
This government hs done nothing but put its own special intrests first before our own interests. Personally, if a baseball player wants to do steroids, that’s his decision, his own PERSONAL decision. The only reason the government won’t legalize marijuana is because they get alot of more taxpayer dollars by incarcerating people and prosecuting people who do nothing more than a simple recreational use of marijuana.
Overaged congress who are out of touch with reality. It’s going to take time, but eventually these state medical marijuana bills that keep passing will force the Feds to answer why they have a different policy then half of the states in the union. Like everything else these days in congress, it’s going to take years though (unlike voting on their own compensation which is passed in days). The key in majority. If we want to win this then we have to play the game. Support these organizations today. Both have lobbyist on capitol hill.

How many of you know someone that has died from alcohol related deaths? Over the counter drugs? What about shootings? Car accidents? PRESCRIPTION DRUGS?!! HHHMMMM?
These studys are such bs. Pot is so much less harmful than any other drug, legal or illegal this amounts to nothing more than propoganda. If it were leagalized and taxed the taxes along with the money saved in trying to get rid of it could help pay for health insurance as well as put the drug lords out of business.
Does anyone really think that smoking a little pot is that bad when we sell beer and liquor at every corner store in town. When have you ever heard of someone getting high and beating there wife or getting into a car and causing a traffic accident. Spirits (liquor) is much more of a problem in our country than pot has ever been. I’ve smoked now for nearly two decades, have a good paying job and a wife and kids at the house. I think the government needs to wake up, get their heads out of there rear ends and wise up. The only reason pot remains an issue is that there is no way of the government to get their hands in the money pile. Lets face it, their only concern is that anyone and everyone would be able to have their on plant and the government would never have anyway of knowing or regulating the consumption. Can anyone say BIG BROTHER. What a joke.
Obviously you way over state the Problem, as NYS top court see no harm in a “Little Pot” being brought into one of its Prisons

Court reduces penalty for pot in prison
Updated: 06/11/08 6:36 AM
ALBANY (AP) — New York State’s top court says small amoounts of marijuana in prison do not represent “dangerous contraband†under the law and ordered lower courts to reduce two convictions to misdemeanors with shorter sentences.
The Court of Appeals ruling came in the cases of Kyle Salters whose girlfriend tried to bring him 9.3 grams of marijuana in 2003 at Bare Hill Correctional Facility and Robert Finley who had “three joints†in 2004 at the Orleans Correctional Facility. Both were convicted of felonies, with Salters sentenced to two to four years in prison and Finley to three to five years.
The court majority said the test for “dangerous contraband†is its likelihood to be used in a way that causes death, injury, escape or “other major threats†to prison safety or security
Well well doesn’t this open a can of worms? hmmm for beginners it all started with the cigs, booze and then pot and yes I even smoked meth; nasty just thinking about it but I still smoke pot for a few reasons and most of you know what those are. i run 3 miles in 18 minutes, i train Muay Thai and ju-jitsu 7 days a week; you tell me where its affecting me and I’m network and system admin. I’ve been a smoker for 20+ yrs. I’m from cali but not there presently and we should all jump on board like cali with the killer out of the vending machines. Sorry to ramble folks. one more thing my dad was a cop for about 22 yrs who was a abusive, mean and nasty alcoholic that just died at 57 of the disease.
Thanks
J
it is about damn time we got some good pot to smoke . QUIT OMITTING POT SMOKERS FROM GETTING GOOD JOBS BECAUSE OF DRUG TESTS . BUNCH OF CRAP !
Did these people ever stop to think, that maybe these teenagers aren’t smoking pot and then getting depressed, but instead, smoking pot because they are already depressed and it helps?
I’m positive if you asked any of them how they felt mentally prior to ever smoking pot, they’d all say that they had pre-exisiting depression.
Not one comment in here supporting the government’s position. Nicotine is more addictive than heroin but it’s legal. Alcohol is more damaging to our bodies (and to other people) than pot and it’s legal. We used to be a country that was respected by others in the world. Our government is laughable…and an embarrassment. Our current government, not just the administration but the whole body – executive, legislative, judicial – needs cleaned out.
If pot were legal we would not be paying 4.00 a gallon for gas.
If pot were legal we would not be cutting down trees for paper.
If pot were legal 20-40% less prescription pills would be taken.
If pot were legal less people would smoke cigarettes and drink beer.
This is not about getting high its about saving the environment.
The people lobbying against marijuana are the: Drug companies, tobacco companies, alcohol companies. Oh and the whole reason it is illegal is because of the Dupont Corp. and the Hearsts.
And one more thing: Let’s redistribute the billions of dollars being spent on the “War on Drugs” for a REAL economic stimulus.
I’m always surprised when i go to someones home, where i know they smoke pot. The smell doesn’t linger after their finished, at lest not as long as cigarette smoke.
whens the last time you heard about a group of people that smoked pot and robbed a gas station? When is the last time that you have heard about someone who has smoked pot and gone driving hit and killing a family? The Withdrawal effects are less then the withdrawal from caffeine…. Seriously? And how is this still not legal?
There is a HUGE market for this, if it was regulated and taxed. I don’t smoke Tobbaco, and I’m not sure how much loose leaf tobacco sells for, but for pot at lest here in some parts of Colorado it’s 50 bucks for an ounce, and i would be more then willing to pay more then that if it was legal and regulated. I’d rather hang around pot users then people who drink, at lest with those who smoke pot their mellow and predictable, with booze people get loud and obnoxious. Pot also won’t leave you with a hangover the next morning and a pounding headache.
There is a way to force this issue down their throats folks but we must be willing to do it. The best way to get pot legalized is for all of us to start where it hurts the most. We must get together and take away from the government their legal drugs of choice. We must be prepared to fight fire with fire and start a movement the will bring back prohibition on alcohol and tobacco.
If the Government does not want to play nice I do not think we should either. I am not in favor of prohibition because it clearly does not work that is not the point. The point is that if we go after their money and make criminals of tobacco smokers and alcohol drinkers I feel that the alcohol industry and the tobacco industry might just jump on the band wagon and fight to have pot legalized. Why should they continue to sit back and enjoy their life style while the pot smokers have to look over their backs? Lets put alcohol drinkers and cig smokers on the same playing field as pot smokers maybe then will we get some results. Thanks
Stop the panic!
Anyone who is using this drug for medical purposes only takes a few puffs in morning and a night in order to control symptoms they want their supply to last and not be caught short if they need a little extra one day or another.
If its stronger than before, then they won’t need so much.
Medical use should be approved country wide.
Let minor offenders out of prision leaving room for the really bad guys.
Grow fields run by government (you will have control of distribution for medical purposes)
Grow in the south ending some unemployment problems, tax it and reduce the national debt.
As someone posted earlier, when will the government get over this “reefer madness” mind set on marijuana?
I thought for sure that once my generation came into power that the whole perception of marijuana would change. (I’m 47)
I don’t drink, but instead enjoy smoking. And what do you know, I’m a gainfully employed family man, and a productive member of society even after 34 years of smoking.
If one were to believe the propaganda against marijuana, you would think that it would be impossible for someone to function.
Such BS.
What the article doesn’t address is the amount that the average user inhales now versus 20-30 years ago. My guess is that because the potency is higher there is less used to experience the high that M. gives a person.
Bob
Legalizing pot and taxing it accordingly, would help our economy enormously! “Gateway drug” is BS and everyone knows it. Of course driving while under the influence should be illegal just like any other drug, but I would rather be in a car with someone who just smoked some pot, than someone who just had a few drinks, (if there needed to be a choice).
There are more jobs lost and families ruined because of alcohol. You don’t usually hear of a pot smoker beating up on his wife and kids.
Our farmers could make more money growing pot and I’ll guarentee they won’t have to hire illegals to tend the crops!
We have a lot more to gain than lose by legalizing pot .
I wondered why I am spending less for the same buzz… Great job guys!
I still don’t understand why everyone is so afraid of marijuana. It is an herb. It grows naturally in the ground. I, by the way, only indulge a few times a year, so I am not some big advocate, but Jesus! When is the last time you heard of someone being high, getting on the freeway going the wrong direction and wiping out a family in a head-on collision. You haven’t. That person just wants to get home and have a few late night White Castle burgers and fall asleep. Alcohol you can buy on any corner and is FAR, far more destructive than pot will ever be. Loosen up Uncle Sam! Legalize it and tax it!
Sorry if I don’t believe anything that the white house says.
Legalize it
Yet alcohol, cigarettes, OTC’s are still legal!!!! HMMMMM?????
This is propaganda as usual. This is the typical anti-marijuana jib jab. It really isnt a fair argument because both sides of the story aren’t expressed. Alcohol is FARR worse than marijuana. Hundreds of thousands of people die while driving drunk where less then a hundred people died while high (according to FARS which is the Fatal Accident Report System). This is all coming from a 16 year old teen who had previously smoked (I quit), but I didn’t inhale…haha. For the media to say it affects teens mentally is again a lie because I have a 4.6 GPA. Cigarettes are far worse then pot.
YES THE POTENCY IS HIGHER, AND YES KIDS SHOULDN’T SMOKE IT BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT IF YOU ARE IN PAIN I FIND IT HARD TO BEAT. IT DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR LIVER AND IT IS VERY CALMING. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN WHAT WAS AVAILABLE FOR 100 DOLLARS AN OUNCE TO TODAYS MARKET IN WHICH IT IS AS HIGH AS 300 DOLLARS IN THE CLUBS. IN TODAYS WORLD YOU ACTUALLY SMOKE LESS DUE TO THE POTENCY
Other than for medicinal purposes, pot smoking is simply a selfish, destructive behavior. Of course, once you become addicted to it, you will be unable to recognize this fact.
God bless those researching the hazards of this harmful drug. I have seen the damage it can do to those who have been ensnarled by its addictive properties!
When an article on this drug contains concepts that some of the readers perceive as self righteous or slanted, I challenge those individuals to examine their motivations. It is right to continually ask ourselves….”What behaviors have I developed and experiences have I had that have lead me to this point in my life?”. Defending pot is really not the side of the fence that you want to set up camp. Take a stand! Take a bold stand! Just reflect on your motivations for going to battle.
Yes, please make it legal. Where do we sign up to have a grass root rebellion?
It is very hard for law abiding citizens to state their opinion without being labeled a ’stoner’. I am a 64 year old grandmother of 10. I really enjoy a hit once in a while; as stated stronger pot means one hit is enough!!!!! Of course teenagers shoud not smoke marijuana!! I just recently found out diet coke has been toxic to my system. It has caused a blood sugar problem. You will not find a warning label on any diet soda. ‘Money Money Money’ that is what it is all about. Poison the people with aspartame but do not let them smoke pot!! Best war on drug lords, legalize pot and put them out of business.!!!!
Maybe if pot was legalized my brother would not be lying in a hospital right this minute dying from cirrhosis of the liver! Cirrhosis is one of the ugliest diseases it is a very slow death that takes EVERYTHING from you.Thank you congress for not doing enough to regulate alcohol!!! And for not legalizing Marijuana, my brother may have chosen pot over alcohol if it had been legal!!! Personally I do not know ANYONE who has died from an overdose of pot, but you hear about people who die every day from alcohol poisoning and cirrhosis!!
And why is my comment not showing up!!!!!!!!!
I think most people who wonder why marijuana is illegal forget how much money our government makes off the war against drugs.
It’s still no better or worse than tobacco, and better than alcohol. DEPRESSION??? dude, could it be that being depresses is what led them to the drug in the first place? AND most teens and young adults are affected by angst at some point and suffer from mild to moderate depression. You people crack me up, LOL. Lets have a few more studies with results that tell us the same things we knew, but don’t say, hey…its as we suspected all along”, or hey this proves that theory the military had stated twenty + years ago after VietNam.”
Really, you call this a news flash? and I don’t even smoke the stuff, ( would weigh 300 Pd’s) and I find this ridiculous. I hope you didn’t wait tax-payer money!
I’d rather be around someone high than someone drunk!
Everything has a risk!
This is absolutely great news! Now people that use marijuana don’t have to inhale as much smoke to get the same benefits from it.
I like the idea of a Tax stamp and all as much as the rest of the majority of the country, but I think the real reason it’s not happening is due to the fact that having this obviously unwinable war on drug’s is just a means for the Fed’s to pad their budget. By showing a perceived need for hiring more Officers, buying more equipment etc, they get to earmark a greater % of our tax dollars into their budget. And let’s not forget the countless stacks of confiscated money and the car’s and homes they get to legally steal from growers and dealers then sell at auction. I’d personally be interested to see a full and verifiable disclosure of what’s being done with these funds.
America is becoming more and more Orwellian by the minute. I love how we supposedly have the freedom of Pursuit of happiness yet these fascist revisionists want to come along and put up fences so as to scare the Cattle into their little pasture of pre-approved forms of pleasure.
Of course smoking it aside, we shouldn’t loose focus on the fact that by legalization for cultivation they would be opening the door for American Farmers to step up and solve our Nations fuel crisis by providing us with a quick and easy source of sustainable bio diesel, textile materials and homeopathic remedies… Basicly alot of people with alot of money and power would loose some to the People…
Friggin’ Sad…
At least Bush let us get our “Assault rifles” back….
To Scott in Alabama,
Sounds like Bob Barr might be the canadite for you…
Bah. The fact that pot is illegal is no longer about ‘marijuana’. It is about money.
How many jobs would be lost if marijuana were legalized? How many security firm and military budgets (who get a lot of cash set aside so they can fight the ‘war on drugs’) would get cut if marijuana was illegal. How many defense and/or security programs are based on data that includes the illegal importation of pot?
No one in their right mind still tried to make pot out as ‘evil’. No, it is not about pot.
It is all about the greenback.
They need to legalize it. The world would be a less angry place. I’m a casual smoker, and I have a great job and make good money and I make straight A’s in college. What’s so wrong with that? When was the last time you heard some one go on a pot-induced rage? When was the last time you heard of someone getting into a car accident for driving high? I would love to live in a world where I can go to the store and buy a joint or two. “Excuse me sir, can I get a carton of USA Golds and a pack of Marlboro 420’s?”
I forgot what I was going to right,…oh yea, now I remember.
Check out crown7.com for a new way to smoke.
Marijuana is a wonderful soft drug. It’s much safer than alcohol and tobacco. And it’s definitely not a gateway drug because there’s no addiction. Straight conservatives in Washington really have no idea except for a couple I won’t mention. The war on drugs? Soft drugs? Ridiculous! Make it legal and open the prison doors, this has gotten way out of control. Thank God for THC. Yes, if it’s stronger we smoke less. Too sticky, mmm, use a bong. If America continues down this path of propaganda and enforcement, we will see a lot more young people abusing prescription drugs, because guess what? People wanna get high. Smart ones, numb ones, whoever, becuz it feels good and relaxes the mind. There are so many positive psychological benefits from smoking pot. Yo Gov, people are gonna keep gettin high no matter what laws you pass. Maybe if you would smoke a little reefer we wouldn’t be in Iraq. nuf said. Keep rockin in the free? world.

Michael, I don’t intend to inflame, but you are either UN-informed or ILL-informed. Regardless of your OPINION, the fact is that cannabis IS NOT addictive and IS NOT hazardous. If you want research proof, look it up for yourself. Using cannabis may be habituating though, rather like a bad habit of eating with your mouth open, sneezing without covering up, picking your nose and scratching your ass in public, or a host of other, personal-choice habits.
You suggest taking a bold stand. I suggest that those of us who would rather set up camp with, and defend, other cannabis users ARE taking a very bold and honorable stand. My motivations are varied, but one would be economic, another would be humanistic, another would be realistic. YOUR POSITION IS INDEFENSIBLE and contrary to positions espoused by learned and erudite men and women across the country. I have made my stand and shall vigorously defend it against any and all pretenders.
I wonder if anyone in our government will actually read these posts. I have read almost all of them and none have agreed with this bogus article. Someone asked the question about government being for the people. The government hasn’t been for the people for at least 50 years. We are sheep people. We need to stand up and stop being so afraid. What the hell can they do? Murder us all? They need US to survive, not the other way around. LEGALIZE IT. WE THE PEOPLE WANT IT THAT WAY!!!!!!!
Please send all these comments to the White House. Is anyone listening? I thought the Government worked for the people???? Pot is a problem? Look at our officials, criminals at best.. Why aren’t they in jail instead of pot smokers. Has anyone done a study of them….?
I know many upstanding, professional people who smoke pot and have for many years. They are positive members of scociety with jobs, family and friends. They do not steal for their pot, kill for their pot or commit any other crimes for their pot. I have never known anyone to die from pot.
The REAL problems (homelessness, economic collapse, hunger, health care, outsourcing jobs, illegal immigration, etc.) in this country are being pushed under the carpet so a few corrupt individuals and corporations can continue to pursue this idiodic WAR ON DRUGS. Statistics (true ones that is) tell us that most young people are abusing alcohol, meth, crack, etc.
I guess the only thing we can expect of our government is to stay the course and continue to lie to us and feed us BS regarding almost everything!!!
Well, I guess that explains the increase in price over the years…you get what you pay for. It, also, means it’s probably grown in the states…9% THC is no “Mexi-schwag.” If only the US government wanted a piece of the action…
There are such people as “responsible users” of marijuana. I see so many critics claim to have seen lives “destroyed by the drug” but, the truth is, it’s not a drug that the user can’t control. One can choose to overuse, abuse, and let it become the focus of his life.
I live in “Rocky Mountain High” Colorado and a lot of “respectable, upstanding citizens” partake in cannibis use…and it doesn’t matter because they have jobs and are productive members of the community that many “wouldn’t suspect.”
Pot smokers are an easy target because most of us feel we should have “nothing to hide”? That shouldn’t make it more important than prosecuting the meth-heads…the real core of the nation’s “drug problem.”
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Roll another one
Just like the other one
You’ve been hangin on to it
And I sure would like a hit
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Rolllllllllllllllll another one
Just like the other one
That one’s just about burned to the end
So come on and be a real friend
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Everybody sing along this time
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Don’t bogart that joint, my friend
Pass it over to me
Colorado Rocks! I have to say, it sure seems like its time people take a stand and act upon what they want. I know many people whom are responsible, law-abiding citizens who occasionally enjoy a puff or two. Nothing wrong with that. The only thing pot smoking leads to is Ben & Jerrie’s Chunky Monkey.
We need change. Lets make it happen.
Comment by Bob in Arkansas is the only one in this blog that has a brain. The rest of you are eaten up in hedonistic psychosis.
We should be growing it by the tons and shipping a bunch of it to the middle east. Maybe the radical extreemists would become less interested in strapping bombs to themselves and start carrying bongs instead.
I am so happy to see so many comments from rational, like-minded readers. This article is obviously propaganda with very little factual basis, and if it weren’t for our public education system, no one would believe a word of it. When I quit smoking cigarettes, I nearly had a nervous breakdown. I had violent emotional outbursts, unexplained crying fits, and I felt like I wouldn’t survive. Not to mention the weight gain and the fact that I had to learn how to deal with stress in a more healthy natural way. Three years later I still have occasional cravings. I quit smoking marijuana without ANY side effects AT ALL! I had a decrease in appetite for a couple weeks but that came back with gusto. This is more like a state run “news” media article. I don’t want my government doing my thinking for me, thanks anyway.
Well, surprise! The socialists are alive and well and spitting out their propaganda with force.
Beware of these liars, beware of puppet politicians!
Pretty good. I only see a couple of off comments. One by Michael who is defiantly uninformed about cannabis causing addiction (but thats not his fault) and the other one is from Marc Strickland, which I think is a negative, but I don’t think he read Bob’s post correctly.
Fox News is censoring these comments. I am a conservative and loyal foxnews fan, and I am very displeased. I see you moved this story from the front page in bold, to an article that has to be searched on the site. Not liking the comments?
There has not been one single recorded death from THC poisoning. NOT ONE. Any questions? Look up Marijuana and death on WebMD.
I am so sick and tired of reading about people having their lives destoyed by marijuana arrests. Even if you don’t go to jail (which you probably won’t the first time), the cops will call your boss to get you fired and will probably steal your money and personal property and label it as “evidence” that you’ll never get back.
I’m getting depressed. Anyone know a safe way to relieve depression?
OK. For the record.
1) You can only get so high. Just because the pot is stronger, you do not get “more” high.
2) I had 4 good friends in HS that had to have their stomachs pumped for…you guessed it. Too much alcohol.
3) I have had 2 grandparents die. From what? You guessed it…Smoking tobacco.
4) How many people have died from smoking marijuana? 0
5) You cannot overdose on marijuana. Believe me. We have tried. Alot. Can’t be done.
6) I have smoked for close to 15 years. 5 of those years I was employed for a well known government contractor installing computer networks for the military. Just because you toke a little doesn’t make you lazy, or stupid. If you are already lazy and stupid, it doesn’t help. But it doesn’t cause these conditions.
7) When is the last time you heard of a pot head arrested for beating his wife?
Our government is just plain stupid.
Marc Strickland,
You are obviously the only one with psychosis. This country was founded on freedom. Freedom to choose what we will. Freedom to live our lives with no threat of unjust persecution. Freedom to make what we will of our lives. If you truly believe in America and the fundamentals that this country was founded on, then you have to support the freedom of choice. If you don’t, you are a hypocrite.
To Marc Strickland
You and Bob keep throwing rocks at the moon when you see it rise. The rest of us will be studying its effects on gravity.
Absolute rubbish and twaddle. Pot is no stronger or different now than it was in the 60’s.
How are Dubyas daughters getting on with the so called stronger stuff? Our prince Harry loves it!
OK, so last count, Micheal and Marc Strickland are the only stupid ones here?
I believe that makes a majority. I am feeling better already. Praise God!
Has anybody heard of this new initiative started for 2009…….I guess people are trying to get people arrested for marijuana possession to begin requesting jury trials. In theory, with 800k arrested each year, giving them all jury trials would cripple the legal system and force the govt to change laws……..Any thoughts, or others that may have heard this.
Legalize it and stop the madness. Anybody heard of Rachel Hoffman?
Wow….why do they continue to publish something so full of LIES..???
For the record…I’ve been smoking herb ever since 1976, and for some strange reason I’m still alive and have no health problems. I can still run remarkably fast, and I can still lift more than my body weight. And, get this, I only weigh 125lbs, so the munchies haven’t caused probs.
I’m a computer expert, have been for many years. I own my own house, have paid thousands in taxes, and I make great contributions to society.
What I am not is an alcoholic, which is what killed most of the prior generation in my family.
If any politicians are reading this, please go take another shot from your bar and then do me a favor and go play in traffic.
This stuff is so ludicrious, it makes me want to go lite up now so I can calm down…..\
Question: even with this new information, how much of this potent marijuana would one have to consume to be fatal? Can one possibly consume enough of this more potent marijuana to kill him?
Otherwise, we know the answer concerning alcohol and tobacco. There are levels of it’s use that can be fatal. In the case of tobacco, it’s proven to increase your risk of lung cancer by 200% (founded by Dr. Donald Tashkin, the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at UCLA, and the hired gun of the Federal government, whose task it was to prove the dangers of pot).
Go ask your personal doctor: If you consumed a pound of sugar, or a pound of salt, or a pound of marijuana, which would have the LEAST adverse effect on your health? If you’re an anti-marijuana advocate, you’ll be surprised at the answer, so one will have to assume you’ll be an anti-sugar and anti-salt advocate also.
just legalize it already. it cuts down on the time and resources to arrest these people. I am sick of paying $ 100,000 a year in tax dollars PER INMATE. So stupid.
Not to mention, our country could make a TON of money by taxing it as well as making it safer to smoke. Why do you think cigarettes arent illegal? Because they are making a ton of money off them. just legalize it and let thme make money.
I have a California Mediccal Liscense to obtain, cultivate, and process Marijuana. The only hard that Marijuana has is that it stays in your fat cells for a good amount of time and you would have to work out extra hard to loose it. I’ve been a smoker for almost 20 years now and really don’t see the big deal, maybe marijuana has become more potent but it’s only because in California you are allowed to LEGALLY grow it and people are experimenting with different strands and different methods.
I think Marijuana and alcohol should be legal in the United States. At first more people are going to do it, but look at France, do you ever hear of teens getting drunk and killing people. Of course but not near as often as it does in the U.S. Teens drink because for one its illegal and they are rebelling, two they drink cause its fun. The teens that drink for fun are often the ones that are drinking to rebel. If you take the rebelling part away kids won’t find it quite as much fun. For marijuana, if it was legal, I don’t even think very many kids will do it. I am a teen; almost all my friends would only do it to rebel. I personally would never do it because I think it is beyond stupid. If drinking was changed from 16 instead of 21 I still wouldn’t drink but if I was at dinner with my family I may have a glass of wine or something like that.
Fox censors…
you need to stop choosing what to post and what not to post.
It seems you’re pushing an agenda here, and I’m going to start turning AWAY from Fox unless you stop the censorship…!!!!
To Mark Strickland – I believe I understand what you said, and if I did, thanks. About “Z” and “sam”, I believe they’re ‘one toke over the line’
MOST of us agree that the Federal government has and continues to engage in lying and propaganda, that the “war on drugs” has wasted lives, energies, and national treasure, and that the citizens of the U.S. could be better served. However, we have made small inroads. It hasn’t been too long ago that a discussion of this sort could not have even taken place without a bit of well-placed paranoia. But, the inroads are not long enough.
To those of us who know and understand, please continue to ’set up camp’ with likeminded, informed individuals, continue to support, however you can, the skirmishes, present cogent arguments and debates (without sounding like hedonists) and prepare to win this battle.
Everyone else, well, you can just continue to waste your time contemplating gravity since it’s going to cause the sky to fall.
The real health risks are the laws……Ask the family of Rachel Hoffman
Our governmen can’t end the war on pot, because too many people are employed by it. How “high” would unemployment be if there weren’t prositions in the government for brainwashed pot haters? I makes me furious that this plant is illegal. We should make tomato plants illegal, because frankly, I can’t stand the things. Also, we could create a new boondoggle to fight tomatoes. This report is stupid. It’s propoganda that further illustrates the Bush administration’s (for whom I have twice voted) ignorance and shallow mind. Let’s fight real problems instead of worrying ourselves crazy about a little plant. OOOOh, big bad America is scared of a little weed. It’s insane.
I heard there was an initiative to start in 2009 by one of the Drug Policy groups or something……..They are trying to get everybody to request jury trials for simple possession of marijuana. The theory being it will cripple the flow of the legal system even more than it is now. Anybody hear of this? Anybody have any thoughts?
I love how they say it is a gateway drug. It’s the only drug I have tried and never have I had the urge to stick a needle in my vain. As for memory, sure you get a little “dopey” while you are feeling the effects. However, I have one of the best memories of anyone I know and you regain full memory after it wears off. I am a successful business owner who likes to fire one up on the weekends here and there. It’s great because you can devote shorter periods of time to doing it. You don’t need to drink for three hours to get a buzz and you are not on the couch the next day nursing a hangover. Plus it’s easy to carry and light, plus you don’t have to keep it cold to enjoy it.
After the Mexican drug cartels by Budweiser………………
the canadian goverment grows medical pot that it sells for like 100 an ounce to pepole that have perscriptions its 10% thc so get over your findings
Tomatoes are deadly drugs…………………..
The Declaration of Independence, US Constitution and the Bill of Rights was drafted on marijuana paper but was not once mentioned in the National Botonical Gardens.
To Scott,
The government and the Department of Health and Human Services make a great deal of money on treatment.
Since there is no health problem with cannabis there is no money to be made except for extortion.
Bob in Arkansas,
I am not sure how upholding the fundamental principals of the Constitution makes me “one toke over the line.” If anything, it makes me more sane than these loonies who work in D.C.
I’ve been saying it for years “John Walters should be fired and jailed for 20 yrs.” He’s our drug czar and all he’s managed to do is spout propaganda and scare tactical lies. Let me share something you probably don’t know.
-Cannabis replenishes itself 4 times faster than trees.
-Hemp seed oil is 10 times more volatile than Methane.
-Cannabis hemp is the most durable, and longest lasting natural fiber known to exist on the earth.
-If Cannabis hemp were legal to grow with 20th century technology, it would again be the single largest agricultural crop in the United States, without even considering recreational smoking.
Do some research, and you will find that marijuana is illegal because of 5 business men and 1 US president chose to do what was best for their future not ours. Names like DuPont, Rockefeller, and Hoover. All this information is out there.
I would continue, but I have to call my grandma and tell her I forgot to come over cause I was getting high.
Marijuana users can titrate their dose. A low grade marijuana might require 4 puffs of smoke to get the relief marijuana provides. A high grade marijuana may only require one puff to get the same relief.
Stronger marijuana is safer and more effective marijuana.
JG
AIDS patient
oh yeah they made it illegal because hemp clothing didnt wear out for years and we needed cotton to be king again sorry south !!!!
It’s illegal?
Now that I have actually read ALL the posts here, may I just say WOW…and sorry Bob in Arkansas and Marc. And.
FOX DON”T’CENSOR.
So Michael is the only one here, on this fox news blog, that supports the continued illegalization of Marijuana?
That is very interesting. I read Fox a lot and never see an issue this one sided
You reported, we decided. Now, THAT’S news.
Fox please don’t censor this!
John Walters and his band of dogooders don’t want to lose their jobs. We need to follow the money. Police/ prisons, big pharma, big booz, tough on crime politicians, cotton, oil and chemical producers, and big paper just to mention a few.
Have you ever seen anyone walking down the street talking to theirself? I bet your first thought wasn’t…”that crazy person has just smoked a joint”…HELL NO! But to think…”that crazy person has just smoked some crack, stuck a needle in themselves or drank a 5th of liquor” is most likely CORRECT! And they probably have a cigarrette hanging out the corner of their mouth.
Marijuana….a gateway drug to harsher, more addictive drugs….NOT! Maybe a gateway to a footlong sub, or a large pizza with pepperoni and a super sized pink lemonade.
I must agree with the masses on this one….Marijuana/Cannibus/Hemp, whatever you want to call it, will be more beneficial to our (government) economy, society and personal enjoyment if LEGALIZED….Just my opinion!
Have you ever seen anyone walking down the street talking to themselves?
Well, I bet they didn’t just smoke a joint! But I’d put my house on the fact that they just smoked some crack, stuck a needle in their arm, or drank a 5th of liquor….and probably have a pack of cigarrettes in their hand, about to light that up!
Marijuana….a gateway drug? NOT! Maybe a gateway to a footlong sub, with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, mayo and mustard, melted cheese, vinager and oil and salt and pepper. Or a large pepperoni pizza and a super sized pink lemonade. But not to crack, heroin and other harsh drugs.
I must agree with the masses who’ve commented here….the legalization of marijuana would help our ecomomy, society and provide space in our jails for REAL criminals.
Get er’ done! Legalize, don’t spread lies!
I once calculated out how many joints of average marijuana it would take to reach a toxic level in the body. It was somewhere around 1750. Compared to perscripion drugs given to children to cause them NOT to act like children, this is completely insane. Living in a country where speed and benzos are given to normal people to fix minor issues, this is very disapointing. Marijuana is just as addictive as anything else people enjoy. I have just as much trouble with mariujana as I do with fine food’s. But I choose to spend my money on these things and I find it to be worth it. This is my right. Your body is the most prive part of your rights you have. What you choose to put in it should Never be tampered with.
Its about time we stopped this madness.
Sorry, I thought it didn’t post my comment…..sorry for the repeat!
I think we need to consider moving toward legalization. It’s obvious what we’re doing now isn’t working…. Seems like the war on drugs would get more support if something like this happened.
We need to stop focusing on the failed policies toward marijuana and begin a new look into it. It’s obvious we have been wrong or lied too (sounds like Iraq) alcohol is far worse……..
People should be given the choice to use a safer alternative to alcohol.
Hemp4fuel.org
They’ll give you 100 thousand dollars if you can come up with a better fuel source than hemp. Good Luck! Legalize it.
As a long time smoker of marijuana I find this article to be a typical government smoke screen packed full of lies. First off marijuana is less harmfull and imparring than alcohol. I have never heard of anybody ever dying from pot yet the government deems it as bad. As far as the tendancies to become addicted to heroin and cocaine, never happened after 20 years of smoking. And for the depression there is actual data that supports the opposite showing that it can be effective in battling depression. All I got to say about this nonsense is that thank God I live in California and have a medical marijuana license. The Federal Government should just legalize it, crime would drop. But then again the politicians are a bunch of Cool-Aid drinkers and that would never happen.
Can you see Reefer Madness?! This report reeks! Legalize it.
SaferChoice.org
Can you SAY Reefer Madness I mean.
I couldn’t be happier to learn of the increased potency of today’s weed. Now, if only I could find a reliable South Jersey connection who isn’t a minor….!
I have researched marijuana, and truthfully I think that the increase of mental illness by 40% is completely out there. I think people who smoke it do not become mentally ill. I think that they have done other drugs to become mentally ill, or they have already had a mental illness. Bipolar is considered a mental illness as well as ADHD. More and more people of the United States have something wrong with them, because bipolar is practically airborne now, not really but so many people have it, it should be considered airborne. What I am saying is that before people even smoke marijuana already have a mental illness or have done something in the past to drive them mentally ill. I’ve seen people high, and the only thing it does is it makes the body systems either go faster or slower which means it’s depressing the body, or they are lazy, sitting down, and eating. I dont know how that can cause such a mental illness. I also think it depends on how often you smoke it. I am 16 for goodness sakes and I think I am using my mind more than the scientists because they are just using what they find and not using their heads, their using their knowledge, but not what they have seen. If marijuana is illegal and contains almost the same thing CIGARETTES do, except the THC, then why are cigarettes legal??? And someone once proved to me, but not physically, that marijuana doesnt affect a driver, but alcohol does. Alcohol causes you to see double the amount of whats actually there, and it just impairs you insanely… Your 99.9% more likely to crash, kill, or die in a accident involving alcohol. But when you are stoned, then you are most likely to drive under the speed limit because you are high and you dont want to get in trouble with the cops, theres like a 1% chance that you are going to get into a car accident… Alcohol should be illegal especially if people can just freaking get pulled over for public drunkness. But they dont want you driving, so if your at a bar, and you need to walk home because you dont want to drink and drive, they are still going to pull you over for some stupid reason…. GOSH… UNITED STATES is the GAYEST COUNTRY in the WORLD…. Except the money is great, BUT THATS ABOUT IT…. Drinking age should be like 18
Recently, we have seen an alarming and insidious resurgence of the extremely costly lies told by Former F.B.I. Director: J.Edgar Hoover. A lynchpin to these pusilanimous prevarications is that “marijuana is a dangerous, dangerous, drug”. That is absolutely a lie. One good question is compared to what ? Alcohol? Tobacco? Drinking water? Or, more likely to the practically impossible standard of perfectly natural unassisted living?
Almost all substances we use for relief of this or that symptom; have known side effects which are each somewhat problematic. This includes marijuana, milk, meat, tomatos, grains, and other much more dangerous substances such as tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, white sugar; and the polluted air most of us now breathe. So, the question remains: compared to what – is marijuana a dangerous drug.
Beware the potheads ! They will eat way more than their fair share of food especially sugar based and other junk foods ! They will be abnormally relaxed and easy going. They will do more than their fair share of laughing. They, all too often, step outside of the box, figuaratively that is. They seem disturbingly open minded. They can even forget where they left their car keys. All of these problems and more stem from marijuana use. Their aspirations to conform to norms, however deadly, seem to be diminished. Oh well…
It was that odious demon: MILK, that delightfull creamy substance that not surprisingly accompanies many a chocolate brownie munched down by some pothead on a roll; which led these poor misguided human beings into their lifetimes of dangerous pursuits. Surely, milk is the gateway substance we have long sought in order to eradicate the roots of marijuana madness !
Back in 1974, 34 years ago; I had a conversation with Earl O. Smith, then Executive Director of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police. In that chat I told him that I, an alcoholic, could personally testify to the much more benign effects of marijuana compared to alcohol. HIS ANSWER: OH, YOU’RE THINKNG OF THE MARIJUANA OF YESTERYEAR ! TODAY’S MARIJUANA IS TEN TIMES MORE POWERFUL THAN THE POT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT. That was misleading tripe then and it still is today.
In fact the THC content of the marijuana widely available today IS much higher than it was in 1972, let’s say. This means that tokers smoke less of it to get “higher”. They cough less that way. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN AUTHENTICATED REPORT OF MARIJUANA OVERDOSES OR DEATHS.
My anger flares anew each and every time I hear these lies retold, often with a veneer of pseudo science. That is not because I champion drug use, even benign substance use. I am a Substance Abuse Counselor and have been for over a quarter of a century. Live life on life’s terms in so far as that is practicable for you. Other than that, choose relatively benign substances and use, don’t abuse them. My anger flares because when parents, teachers, police, politicians, and dangerous idiots like J.Edgar Hoover and more recently Marsella Robinson, the Bolinas, CA woman who was sent to prison for selling more LSD than anyone in human history.
When we tell baseless lies like: “marijuana is a dangerous, dangerous, drug” ; some young people will try it anyway. When they discover, first hand, that IT IS NOT DANGEROUS; they no longer trust us when we tell them about the dangers inherent in LSD, methamphetamines, inhalants, untested mushrooms, ghat, cracked cocaine and meth, etc. Then they die, or they burn an old woman to death because they felt like it. Meth can’t be bad for you, they figure. We were told pot was bad for us and it wasn’t. LSD probably isn’t dangerous either.
TELL THE TRUTH.
LEGALIZE IT DON’T CRITICIZE IT DAMMIT!
I have never heard of a violent crime due to pot. The only thing I have heard is a guy who brok into a building, got high, and fell asleep. The cops found him peacefully sleeping. Sounds like a real terrible drug. If you get a bunch of people around a fire all getting high, the most you will get is some laughter and an early night. Besides, it makes south park freakin hillarious. Smoke three hits on a bowl, or 2 packs a day. Which is worse?
Well if everyone is so worried how strong weed is getting there is only one solution. Legalization and regulation. If it was legal the US Gov could keep a cap on how strong weed could be, and store owners who sold it would be prohibited from selling to under age children, which works better then keeping weed in the hands of drug dealers who will sell it to anybody. It would also close the gateway theory because people buying it in stores wouldn’t be exposed to other drugs. And for all of you who still think weed is horrible and has no medicinal value, check to things look up marinol a drug that was approved by the FDA in 1985, basic synthetic marijuana in pill form that mimics, the muscle relaxation, munchies and everything else weed does just not as good. And if that doesn’t get ya. get a list about 12 diff drugs, make sure weed, alcohol , cigs, all the real bad illegal stuff, and look up two cancer drugs that help with nausea, and to help gain wt. make a point system before looking the stuff up, like. Can cause death 10pt, organs dam 5pt’s, how many places cause cancer- 5pt’s for each. That kind of stuff, and see what u get
Broke down the numbers on cannabis.
appox. 36 sample a year per state. Think they are picking the best of the best.
WE dont need it legalize, everyone thinks oh boy I can get it anywhere!
But the taxes on it will be so high we wont be able to afford it.
Cigarettes use to cost between $0.50 and $0.85 a pack in the early 80s now they cost $4.25 to 5.09 a pack in my home state thats a 500% increase in 20 years or so, if I’ve got the math right.
Mary has went from $15 to $20 a Quarter to $30 to $60 on average. Only a 200% increase.
Sure there is O.H.W.W. that can cost over $100 a quarter but thats an adception.
We need it decriminalized.
Just Keep Higher and Higher dont we? hahahehe
‘Marijuana potency increased last year to the highest level in more than 30 years, posing greater health risks to people who may view the drug as harmless, according to a report released Thursday by the White House.’… Are you kidding me FOXnews? To this day I have yet to see one confirmed report of Marijuana being the direct cause of even one death in the entire history of the world. Sure stuff mixed with it may be, but to over blow this substance and continue to pawn it off like its a horrible gateway drug (disproven) and that it’s so much worse then alcohol or tobacco (also disproven) is just more media scare tactic to fuel the fires of the already failed ‘War on Drugs’. Multi billions of taxpayers’ money being flushed down the toilet in an effort that originally started to try to divert attention from the Vietnam war, only our powers that be forgot to stop the effort when the war was over. Now let’s look at some of the facts….
1.) Prohibition failed because the general populace wanted the right to drink.
2.) Drugs in their current prohibition stage allow for a curiosity factor that increases demand thus generating a black market.
3.) Black Market = Crime lords
4.) Crime lords = increase in violent crimes and illegal acts in our country since they have little to no other ways to dispute problems with other groups in the same business due to their trade already being illegal…
Really I could go on and on, but the media disgusts me when they blow stuff like this way out of proportion and perpetuate the current status of the fear mongering and mindless acceptance of the masses.
What the White House chooses to finance for study and then releases is purely and simply propaganda. Why? Because there are no “profits” from Marijuana for BIG Pharmaceutical companies or Oil Companies or the Medical Profession (all with powerful lobbies). If they condone and legalize Cannabis, they will loose the backing that got them their jobs.
What they have pushed upon the American people is an unjust “WAR on Drugs” because the only good economy is a War Time economy – and the BIG Wheels can continue to “profit” from this war. They’ve privatized the prison system so they can profit from people going to jail. They’ve privatized the Drug Counseling Centers so they can make a profit from people being sentenced to drug rehabilitation. Since when did a good life come to revolve around what is profitable? Only since capitalism became the sole paradigm by which we are governed. Shell Oil holds two TRILLION dollars in assets. When is enough enough?
We need to fire every single politician who uses the excuse of doing “what’s good for us” (who the hell are they to decide what’s good for us – we’re too DUMB to figure it out for ourselves?) NOT to vote what their constituencies want. There are many that need marijuan for a “good” life. We no longer have the right to choose our own good lives. We’re “led” by people who have been bribed, coerced and threatened with loss of funding for their pet projects if they don’t follow the party line on Marijuana.
I think they’re afraid that if everyone could smoke pot (at the legal age for it), we’d quit working, quit buying, quit being locked into the parody of government and, heaven forbid, BE Happy. Now why wouldn’t good leaders want people to be happy?
No profit in it I bet.
MK
White House Office of National Drug Control Policy – Hum. They wouldn’t distort the facts, would they? It’s the white house! Honesty, Integrity. I hear the yellow cake is stronger too!
Who is the afford to roll a joint like in the old days? (400 oz vs 20 bucks for four fingers)
I need one or two hits now to achieve my medical needs – in the 70’s I needed one or two joints.
G-d loves yankee ingenuity.
Isn’t pot the number cash crop in Tenn., Kentucky, California? others.
I don’t think there was one post here, that I read – and there is a lot – who even hinted that there is any ‘real’ truth to this article.
For a while ultra-conservatives, and now even middle of the road consevaives realize how expensive and wasteful the drug war is. The only people supporting it are government workers protecting their jobs.
Cops want new toys. Take you car and sell it at auction.
Oh, how in heck does 800,000 tons of pot move around the nation, without crooked government officials being involved? HEY FOX THAT IS THE NEWS STORY.
“Marijuana potency increased last year to the highest level in more than 30 years.” This seems to imply that more than 30 years ago it was a strong as it is now (or maybe stronger). Any comments?
You want to put a huge dent on the war on drugs, then make marijuana legal. It funny to me how you can go buy cigerettes and lung cancer kills 11,000 people a year. I cant even count how many deaths we have related to drinking. But when a person wants to smoke weed it is so wrong. The government needs to worry about the more important issues, and if someone wants to smoke then let athem smoke.
To Mark Dallas:
You want to elect Oreilly because you think he will bring common sense? HE IS against everything you discussed. We certainly would not get more sensible drug laws with him in office. In previous debates with one of the writers from http://www.reason.com about legalizing drugs he basically intimated that he would love to see alcohol banned also.
The basis of this article is WRONG!!!!!
The “average potency” fails to consider the market over time.
Take this for example:
“The 9.6 percent level represents more than a doubling of marijuana potency since 1983, when it averaged just under 4 percent.”
What a load of fecal matter.
They measured “what the cops seized and destroyed”.
This so closely paralells Prohibition I gotta lol.
During prohibition, you could get beer, gin/whiskey, wine, and champagne, in that order of price.
It required big tanks to make beer, so the feds nailed them first.
Then it got harder for the cops. You can make gin in a bathtub, and whiskey in a shed.
WHAT WERE THEY FIGHTING!!!
…and WHAT ARE WE FIGHTING NOW!!!
;;;;;;;same losing fight.
Author Bio: Had fun in college, got responsible and got married. Got chronic pain from electrocution, now have Morphine prescription but no access to cannabis.
I support medicinal marijuana laws as better than what I am stuck with.
…….I am an opium junkie……..
By Dr’s orders.
Will anybody out there make a stand?
I dare one respondent to declare:
“Lab_rat, you COULD POSSIBLY to better with Cannabis instead of Morphine”.
We all must join and support a single organization that actively lobbies for the modification of current
drug policies. NORML is the one thats done the most for us pot smokers. Join NORML and let your voice be heard. Barking about government propaganda on the web will do nothing to further our cause. I’m 58 years old and I’ve taken a pull or two in my lifetime and I cannot beleave that my
generation hasn’t done more to end this government sponsored nonsense. Too many fat cats making too much money maintaining the status quo. Cop find a seed or something as benine as
tweezers in your car and they have the right to confiscate your car and auction it off and you have no recourse. God forbid they find any amount of pot in your house they can and will take and sell it.
We put people in jail for years for smoking weed but I can come home drunk, beat my wife and kids and for this I’d spend a weekend in jail. Sometimes I’m ashamed of my generation.
Join forces and make a real difference. http://norml.org/
Everybody’s been doing a great job of pointing out the many inaccuracies and downright lies that this article presents. The article’s obviously directed at people who already believe that marijuana is one of the worst evils in the world and kids who know nothing about it. The White House knows that people who already smoke pot or are young enough to know the truth would never believe these outrageous claims.
I don’t see how a non-toxic plant could have any sort of toxicity and as a person with Bipolar disorder, I can safely say that marijuana has done nothing except ease my symptoms and help alleviate my depression during harder times. However, the Prozac that I once took was mishandled by my doctor and I ended up stabbing myself in the neck several times and being in the ICU for a month and the psych ward for another two. That’s how well your legal prescription drugs work and to think they even tried to blame the minuscule amount of pot I used to smoke on my depression. Well, if that was so, then the daily smoking I do now has the opposite effect.
Also, I have tried many drugs other than marijuana, even going through some minor problems with addiction. However, the only drug I use now is marijuana. I rarely drink and I plan on quitting cigarettes later this year to make myself free of addiction. I’m happy, healthy, and couldn’t ask for a better life at the moment. I have a steady job with great pay and a wonderful family and have many nice possessions.
None of the reasons to not smoke pot that the glorious government has given us are true and anything with a semblance of truth has been made a fantastic hyperbole or has enough inaccuracies thrown in to make a man scratch his brain. Hopefully with responses like ours to their false claims, we can make a step towards legalization.
The fruit of drug prohibition in the USA and Mexico is bitter and sets the teeth on edge as the practitioners of Anslinger’s law move down
the path of Totalitarianism. Anslinger used
racism as argument in 1937 to justify the
Hemp Tax Act. Cannabis was a available
in 1937 as Tincture of Cannabis, USP and
the AMA tried to protest removing this valuable
and safe drug from the pharmacopoeia.
And removing cannabis from the status of illegal drug is something that would save immense amounts of money for the
American taxpayer which is good thing in this period of severe inflationary pressures.
Some raised questions about the incidence
of fatality among the users of various drugs
including alcohol and tobacco and Mr. Brian
Bennet has included such data from the
US Government own sources on the following
web pages

I highly disagree with this article, because there is no rock-solid proof that cannabis is addictive or toxic. As for the belief that pot smokers are lazy/uninspired, I think that many of those who fit the stereotype were lazy/uninspired to begin with, and pot was just another thing to do. It was not the cause. For example, I am in 2 advanced classes. One is an English course and the other is Physics. At various parties, I have seen, and smoked with, 7-8 people from those classes. I only know when one of them started, and that was in freshman year of high school. None of our grades, jobs, or personal relationships have been damaged by smoking pot.
today the cannabis strains have been developed and some are more potent than others, but each has its own traits. This is why
having strain choice is important to the medicinal user. I heard that the federal drug agency gets like 20 billion a year…for that kind of money is it any wonder that the cops are out there busting as many people as they can for this. They are being payed a lot of money to enforce laws that we want removed from the books, and when I say we, I mean we the People..the taxpaying public….the ones who are paying the 20 billion. This money could be better spent on providing recreation centers for kids 18 and under which is been traditionally run by the Parks and Recreation departments.
Today, the only place a young person can go is the YMCA and that sucks because even they charge a lot of money.
you should all keep in mind that ALL of the media …including Internet media, radio, magazines, television, all media are Corporation owned by just a handful of people who own 10’s of thousands of media outlets. So the media is also being controlled by the same people that control our governments. Is it any wonder they continue to spew fearful lies about cannabis.
