Abortion Pills Blamed for Teen’s Death
A teenager, described by her mother as a devout Christian, died after taking the powerful abortion pill RU-486.
Manon Jones sought an abortion because she was afraid her Muslim boyfriend’s family would be angered by the pregnancy.

This poor woman has lost her child and her grandchild because of abortion. When will people learn that abortion is wrong, in every aspect.
why is this news it happened 3 years ago
Wasn’t his Muslim parents already upset that he had a Christian girlfriend?? Why not have the baby? It probably wouldn’t make his parents any more upset.
If a drug intended for any other purpose caused deaths like this one, the FDA would pull it in a heartbeat. I’m saddened every time I read of these deaths.
How can you be a devout Christian and 1) have an abortion and 2) be romantically involved with a muslim and 3) have sex outside of wedlock?
I am a counsellor at a Care Pregnancy Center. It’s sad how many cases like this one are out there. It’s more common than most believe. I grieve for this family. I really do.
Well if she was a “devout Christian” then why was she killing another human??
Originally reported at http://www.lifenews.com/int784.html
I agree…if she was such a devout christian she never would have been in this position. Sure, it’s sad that she died…but it’s also very sad she killed her innocent baby!
The doctors were too busy to do their job. What a shame, another unnecessary loss of life thanks to socialized medicine. And many Americans want their government to socialize health care in the US. Wake up America, events like this will soon be comming to a government run hospital near you.
And what a shame, she was a nice 18 year old devout Christian girl. A pregnant, unmarried, “devout” Christian girl. Having a do-it-yourself abortion. Because the family of the MUSLIM she was shagging might not have approved.
No one, regardless of personality, religion, moral bankruptcy, or social position, deserves to die in this manner. But the young lady carries much of the blame for the situation she found herself in. The abortion pills did not conspire to rob her of her young life. Reporters have a bad habit of sugarcoating errant behavior to shift the focus and/or blame for the story.
Robert, you can’t…but it makes a good story. The story line should read, “The baby she killed, killed her”. Since when did a baby become “the products of conception”? First step is to dehumanize…
Look, my comment is a little different. Regardless of whether or not she was a good Christian, why was she misdiagnosed? Because the hospital was “too busy.” Does anyone else think that if they didn’t have socialized medicine the hospital wouldn’t have been “too busy” to see if she was dying?
Wow! I am very sad for this young girl and her family. But DEVOUT CHRISTIAN? Nominal Christian maybe. No wonder Christians have no respect. This young girl was having sex outside of marriage with a Muslim boyfriend and decided to have an abortion. These do not describe a devout Christian. If it were my daughter, I would say my rebellious daughter. None of her choices reflect what a devout Christian believes or would do. Again, I am sad for the loss her family is experiencing. One death related to the abortion pill is one too many. It should be banned especially as young girls think that taking a pill will solve all their problems. It is a lie.
Maybe the hospital was “too busy” because everyone was there for the free socialized medicine.
Three quick observations:
1) Devout Christian young women do not commit fornication;
“Fornication is a term which refers to sexual intercourse between consenting unmarried partners. Sex between unmarried persons is distinguished from adultery by use of the term ’simple fornication”
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
2) Devout Christian women DO NOT have abortions! They pray to the Lord for forgiveness and take responsibility for their actions. Abortion, besides being ther murder of an innocent, unborn child, is simply a way for a grossly irresponsible woman to exacerbate her, and her boyfriend, gross irresponsibility. Let’s just hide our mistake …
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
3) A Devout Christian young woman has no business dating a muslim.
2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
Manon Jones should have been more worried about angering the Lord, not her boyfriends muslim family!
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Others, especially parents, need to learn from this story.
Devout Christian?
Let’s see…dating a Muslim…pregnant and taking abortion pills…
A devout Christian?
Not so much!!
This is a sad story…
First wrong – Intermingling Christian and Muslims (especially if his family is devout)
Second wrong – pre-marital sex
Third wrong – abortion
Fourth wrong – medical treatment from a healthcare system that can’t offer timely healthcare and when they get it, it’s sub-standard.
I can understand the choices and they were struggling with but bad decisions all the way around; just a cascading set of circumstances…
As for the healthcare negligence…while no healthcare system is perfect, there’s no doubt these circumstances were compounded by fact that socialized medicine has lowered the quality of healthcare by making nearly impossible to seek timely healthcare, puts the burden on the healthcare professional to determine who warrants healthcare and makes life-or-death decisions every day not on the basis of type of care, rather whether the patient gets ANY healthcare (who’s more critical in their eyes);
America wake up. If you vote for Obama this is what you are going to get…
She got what she deserved if you ask me, but i am sure that isn’t politically correct since it was just a mass of cells. When an adult kills someone the government sees as a human they to are subject to death. In this case the poor girl was the criminal, judge, jury and executioner. The only innocent one here is the life she attempted to flush into a toilet because she was too busy to have a child. Pathetic.
People should note that this story takes place in England. I’m not sure what the legal status of RU-486 is there, but in the US all RU-486 use is prescription-only. When issued via prescription by a licensed physician, there is a follow-up examination 2 days later, where any problems should be identified and dealt with. At that time a dose of another drug, Misoprostol, is orally administered to induce contractions. An observation period is recommended (but not required) to ensure that the uterine contents have been properly expelled. Had this been done in this woman’s case, she would be alive today.
Improper use of a regulated drug should not be used as an indictment of the drug itself. Many prescription pharmaceuticals are extremely hazardous when not properly used. The reference in the article to 7 deaths in the US does not mention that 5 of those women were also given their dose of Misoprostol inter-vaginally, although the FDA has never approved that route of administration. The deaths followed the administration of the second drug in this improper manner.
Let’s just get one thing straight:
Christian, as defined in the dictionary, is “one who believes in Christ.” The devil himself believes there is a God. Therefore, there are thousands of people on this earth who define themselves as “Christian,” but do not hold “Christian” beliefs (i.e. no sex before marriage, abortion is wrong, etc.).
It is sad that this woman felt she had no choice but to abort her unborn child. In doing so, she not only lost the life of her unborn child, but her own life as well.
The FDA should absolutely take another look at the effects of the pill and how deaths can be caused by taking this pill EXACTLY AS PRESCRIBED. But wouldn’t that somehow infringe on the rights of women? Remember, it is only a fetus…a blob of tissue…not a living, growing human being (I’m being facetious, in case you didn’t catch that).
Christians make mistakes all the time. Contrary to what some may believe, we are not perfect! We do our best to live our lives as we should–as the Bible tells us–but we all make mistakes. We are human, after all.
WELL WHAT I THINK IS THAT U SHOULD NEVER EVEN TRY TO TAKE NOBODY’S LIFE AWAY, CONSEQUENCES ARE CONSEQUENCES, SHE DECIDED TO KILL HER CHILD SO IT JUST SIMPLY CAME BACK TO HER.
Good call Robert. I dont know how some people can call themselves ‘devout Christians’ with actions like these. Its a shame.
An abortion pill that aborted not only the baby, but the 18 year-old mother, and thereby aborting every child she would have ever had. Now that is effective.
Hmmm… a devout “Christian” teen who has an abortion and a Muslim boyfriend… gee…looks like someone needs to check their definitions of devout and Christian
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
She killed her baby, her baby’s remains killed her.
This is what happens when the media glorifies Jaime Spears pregnancy, when shows encourage teen relationships, and when crazies run for President. The media sure has a way of screwing things up.
I see alot of people totally miscontruing what it means to be a christian. Where in the bible does it say that a christian cannot be with a muslim? It is so wrong to say that someone cannot be a devout christian and be with a muslim. It is also wrong to assume that a devout christian cannot make mistakes. And to say that a christian would not kill? Remember the story of abraham? What was it that abraham was told to do? The point being, this girl was a human being, and noone is perfect. Not even those of you that are doubting her faith. If any of you were a devout christian, you would leave the judgemental comments to the lord. Let he who is free of sin cast the first stone.
YEAH TOO BAS SHE DIED SHE SHOULD OF NEVER KILLED HER OWN CHILD, PART OF HER HEART, THATS CRUEL AND SELFISH TO THINK ONLY ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT OTHERS MIGHT SAY CAUSE YOUR PREGNANT, YEAH WHAT ABOUT AFTER WHEN YOU BECOME A MURDERER OF YOUR OWN CHILD.
Looks like I am not the only one that has a problem with the phrase “…devout Christian…” I am a Christian, though I would never use the word devout to describe myself. I doubt it applies to her either considering she was having (presumably unprotected) sex outside of marriage, with a Muslim boys AND THEN decided to end her baby’s life because someone that doesn’t even believe in God might disapprove!! Maybe if mom had spent more time with her daughter, teaching her true Christian ways, she woudn’t be without her her daughter and grandbaby today.
RU4-86 Are You for 86
86 is a term that means elimnated
Abortion is murder
China was struck with an Earthquake that especially killed children because of their sins of Abortion In China any child besides the first born is ILLEGAl and has no Rights After the Earthquake China said that if the Liegal child died than the Illegal child could become legal…HOW DELUSIONAL IS THAT!!!
America is being Scourged NOW
If WE DO NOT STOP KILLING OUR BABIES the warnings will get worse and God will take more of Children Home to Heaven since Jesus loves all Children not just first born, or males, or Normal etc…
REPENT!!!
2 Chron 7:14
If my People which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
life for a life
Forget all your moral judgments about this girl’s religious beliefs and the choices she made. If you want to judge her on that, you be my gues, but remember, you too, will be judged later by our maker.
The REAL point is–the HOSPITAL WAS TOO BUSY TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE HER! Every time I read a story like this I’m sickened. Is this what America really wants. I’ll take our current system. England can keep its socialized medical care. When I go to the hospital, I expect better!
“If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Jn 8:7
Is anyone saddened by the fact that two lives have been lost, not to mention the lives that have been shaken by this tragedy?
How about we pray for all concerned and ask for God’s mercy and grace. Remember that Jesus came to save the lost not to condemn. Judgment will come for those who deny Him – Let us tell those who do not know Him yet about the Hope and His Love.
Consider:
How many times Manon may have come into contact with God’s children. If she ran into some of you on this board she most likely never saw the Love of Christ and had no Hope.
Some of you people make me sick to my stomach. Rather than see that a girl lost her life because of a drug, I see people concentrating on the beliefs of her boyfriends, the fact that she is not a “devout christian,” the fact that she had an abortion. A human being lost the life of her child as well as her own because she made a mistake. It happens, and I feel for her family and pray that have the strenght to get through this tradgedy. I also pray for the family of the muslim she was dating because he lost his girl and child as well.
John, I hope you are not Christian because what you said goes against EVERYTHING i have ever been taught. You are a sick man and to say that someone deserves to die because they made a mistake. Unfortunatly yes, we put to death murderers, and abortion is legal, but the way the courts work is that you can’t murder something that hasnt been born. And yes, that is sad, but to say she deserved it because she was scared and felt she had no other way out? You discust me.
And Sonia and Nick, yes, do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Do you really think this applies? Is death the new consequence for fear? Do you really think that child’s soul would wish her mother dead because she was scared and because she made a mistake? Last time I checked, the lord would want that child to forgive, and honor thy father and mother. I don’t think there are any exceptions to that.
Some people need to rethink their thought process. Because one day, this will haunt you. Keep judging, and when it is your time to be judged, you will learn the hard way.
The reason they refer to her as “a devout Christian” is because the media is to Politically Correct to describe it accurately. It’s kind of the same thing with funerals. With every funeral its the same story “so-an-so is staring at us from the clouds next to Jesus”, regardless of how the person lived his life.
Sad story, but could have been avoided had she actually been “devout”…
What a contradiction. Devout Christian having an abortion from a muslim father.
A devout Christian would obey the Christian Bible. No premarital sex. No murdering. No romantic involvement with a nonchristian. No actions based upon how others would react. Etc. !!
This woman was critically ill when she presented to the hospital, and there was only a brief window for life-saving treatment; then, she went on vacation for several days before becoming terminal? Even to a non-medical person, this doesn’t add up…
– A practicing physician
its a very sad story. a very close friend of mine had an abortion kinda like this a couple of years ago. it was one where the she had to take one pill orally to stop the growth of the embryo, then 24-48hrs later the other pill(s) are inserted vaginally to start the cramping and bleeding. i stayed with her at her home that weekend so that didn’t have to be there alone. she had some terrible cramping and heavy bleeding but not enough bleeding to indicate that there was a problem and that she needed immediate medical attention. she went back to the follow up 2weeks later and she was told she still had a positive pregnancy test, and the sonogram showed that even thought there was no hearbeat and the embryo had passed, there was still too much tissue in her womb. she was told if it doesn’t come out, she could die from toxic shock. she had the choice of having a dnc or taking another set of pills. she was sent home and had to repeat the second part of the procedure. she had to really massage her belly, even more so than the first time, even if it hurt. when she went back for the next followup, it was fine and she was cleared. i wonder if the girl in question was given the option of having either a surgical or medical abortion. i also wonder if the poor girl who died did everything she was supposed to do within minutes and hours of taking the medicine to make sure it worked. sadly, no one wil ever know if she did her part other than just taking the medicne.
This is so sad. Now 2 people have died, and they both could have lived if the young woman had felt she had a real choice. That “product of conception” had a heartbeat! And the young woman had a long life to live. As far as the hospital is concerned, the UK has the same wonderful healthcare that Obama would love to force on the U.S. No thanks!
I love how cold the doctor was calling the baby a product of conception. How sick and hard hearted. Doesn’t he realize that all of us are a product of conception? Shame on the medical community for allowing this to happen and shame on the drug maker who facilitates this and shame on society for allowing a girl to think that a baby would not be welcome into this world.
Guess it was ok with her muslim boyfriend’s standards to be having sex outside of marriage, not to mention with a Christian. What does his bible (Koran) teach.
There is really a reason for ethics and principles. That which the Bible tells us to do is not arbitrary, but is intentionally designed by God to protect us from unfortunate, tragic circumstances like this one. The problem that people have, however, is that they allow their emotions and desires to override their resolve to obey Biblical principles, rationalizing to themselves that “everything will be okay if I can just get what I want”. As this story tells us, that isn’t always true.
This girl, who probably was a Christian, would be alive today had she just followed any one of a number of Christian principles, but she chose to do that which she wanted to do rather than that which she was instructed. Bible readers know that this is the oldest story in the Book. Young people, the author of the Bible knows more about life than you do, so listen to Him and follow His instructions, because that which He tells you is in your own best interest.
Wow. I’m appalled at the nasty comments posted here about someone who LOST THEIR LIFE. You people should be ashamed. Regardless of how you feel about it abortion is legal in the UK and she was well within her rights to have gone ahead with an abortion. As far as I know the abortion pill is safe enough, but generally taken under medical supervision. It’s her healthcare system who failed in this case. She shouldn’t be judged for doing what she felt she needed to do that was well within her rights. There is no karma or divine justice being meted out here. Only a terrible complication. I’m sure it’s very consoling to this lady’s mother to hear you all and many others actually talk and think this way.
If she truly was a Christian, she wouldn’t be dating a muslim or having an abortion.
Good for her. Turn about is fair play. The baby didn’t have a say so in this. If she didn’t want the baby she should have kept her legs together. I guess she doesn’t have to worry about making the Muslim boyfriend’s parents mad now.
Devout? Christian? Abortion? Muslim Boyfriend? Anyone else see the hypocricy here? devout Christians don’t kill unborn babies! Devout Christians don’t have premarital sex! Devout Christians don’t date Muslims! To be a devout Christian you, 1. Become saved by the Grace of Jesus Christ and are transformed from a lost sinner going to hell to a Christ follower going to Heaven for eternity. 2. Follow what the word of God says. 3. Live as a witness for Jesus Christ (for social liberals and intellectuals this means to live for Christ and follow God’s Commandments and Gospel). Check out http://www.oneplace.com to see what beinga devout Christian is all about, before you spend eternity in Hell.
RU-486 needs to be taken off the market. Any other pharmaceutical that carries with it such a high risk of fatality would have been banned long ago. Clearly, the multi-million dollar abortion industry is more interested in profit than in protecting the health of women and girls.
What a heartbreaking story! My heart and prayers go out to both families that are feeling the loss of a daughter, a grandchild, and someone who they loved.
Liliana,
The reason people talk about her religious “convictions” is because the family decided to make her religion an issue in the story. What people are upset about is having their image as devout christians tarnished by this “devout” christians actions. One must ask “if this is devout, what’s nominal?”
Matt,
God’s love includeds steering people away from sin too. You convieniently leave out the rest of Christ’s famous quote: “Go and sin no more”…
Um, Gene,
It wes Death for Death, not fear. “Oh, she was scarred” is a cowardly cop out. Maybe she should have been “fearful” of the consequences before she decided to mess with her boyfriend. That is, afterall, the “consequence” of utilizing reproductive systems…
And yes, the baby was “Alive” even if you refuse to acknowledge so. Fear is not a legitamite reason for murder…
Again, sad story, but could have been avoided…
First a comment to Bill. Matt. 8: 7 But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!” (A Woman Caught in Adultery) I think you have missed a point to present that our God is a Forgiving God. In this story Jesus also recognizes this women’s sin and yet forgives her. We do not know this young women’s heart and what was between her and God at the time of her unfortunate death. Fear plays a major role when we make a mistake whether we are a Christian or not. With Fear we can make poor choices. We must pray for women (both Christian and non-Christian) who are currently in this situation to have a support system to make good choices for themselves and their babies. And just because you are a Christian does not mean you stop making mistakes or falling into temptation. You do not become perfect. You have a God and Savior that forgives and heals if you accept this gift.
Also, it is unfortunate that this story never makes it to the MAJOR headlines. It obviously did not make to the major headlines on this website. We will like not hear about again. Our country has its priorities way off base.
“Product of conception” how sweet. Why not use the term “by-product” like in sausage?
People die every day in war. There has to be something in the bible about war. Oh yeah, the Sermon on the Mount.
Roe V. Wade. your uterus, your rights.
….Dr. Lucy Jackson, who treated Jones, told the inquest that doctors initially failed to diagnose the condition because “the hospital was extremely busy” the night the teen checked in. Fighting back tears, Jackson said if the hospital had not been so busy, things might have turned out differently…..
GOTTA love Universal Health Care . . . . . BandAids anyone?? Patient Stacking?? Gotta love Universal Health Care!!! Taxes to pay for “free” health care . . . . . gee, what is the tax JUST TO OWN A TV???? Last time I heard, it was $250 US a YEAR . . . . .
Want an interesting read?? Google OBAMA and INFANTICIDE . . . it isn’t coming, IT IS ALREADY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and as i read earlier comments, i’m amused at how many have turned it into a religious topic. regardless why she chose to have an anbortion, which is totally irrelevant, is no one’s business but hers. and who are any of you to say she got what she deserved? the fact is she had one, and there were medical complications resulting in her death. so you don’t believe in abortion? thats fine, but rather than passing judgement on someone that you don’t know just because she made a choice you don’t agree with which has no bearing on your life on a day to day basis, why don’t you preach text from the bible to your own loved ones and focus your attention on them and yourselves instead of strangers you don’t know?
Being a mother of 2 I have one rule for myself and other’s. If your not READY for CHILDREN, then
your NOT READY for SEX… Keep your panties on and legs CLOSED… Life is not so simple as a pill.
The baby died also. May they both rest in God’s peace. May Our Lord soften and change the hearts of those who promote abortion and those who benefit financially from abortion and let them recognize and respond to God’s will.
How can you be a “devout Christian Teen” and have a “muslim” boyfriend? Doesn’t Christ command us to not be yoked to an unbeliever? Being devout means that we obey His Word!!
Gene: I hope I disgust you. I hope I make you sick to your stomach. If that doesn’t, go here: http://www.mttu.com/abort-pics/
That is the life that you claim doesn’t exist. I guess this mass of cells just randomly put its thing that looked to be a thumb (but couldn’t be since it isn’t a baby) in that area that looked strikingly like a mouth and was comfortable. That is until Dr. Death pierced its thing that appeared to be a head and sucked out that mass of cells that appeared to be a brain and tossed it in the trash like yesterdays leftovers.
A dog is treated better than that.
Losses to mourn…sad and accidental loss of the mother, and the sad and purposeful loss of the baby. Ironic. It is amazing to me that civilized countries allow abortions at all.
Yes, of course, God will forgive a woman who has had an abortion. That does not mean our laws should endorse such a practice.
Product of conception? I think that’s what they said the girl still had in her and caused her death. That’s how we’re now refering to babies? That’s disgusting!
Very interesting story. Most interesting is that you will never see it anywhere except Fox news. If it doesn’t further the liberal agenda, it’s not news to CNN, MSNBC, CBS, et al!
Yet another tragic death brought about by this murder pill. It should immediately be taken off the markets not only here but also throughout the world.
RU-486 KILLS babies (as well as their mothers)!
Seriously, why is foxnews reporting this NOW?! This happened so many years ago! I seriously see this story coming out now because of the election and the fact that there are crazy radical Christians out there trying to make abortion illegal. The abortion pill, just as other abortions can be very safe if done by an experienced doctor and followed up appropriately.
The fault here is not that she was Christian, had sex, got pregnant and had a Muslim boyfriend, the problem here was the medical system. The hospital screwed up. If they only gave the girl a proper exam knowing she took the drug. I am sorry to burst all the “devout” Christians bubbles here, but teenagers are going to have sex no matter what those worthless abstinence programs teach. It’s part of human nature. What we need to teach is how to be safe while having sex. If only people were educated about safe sex, then there would be no sad stories such as these.
Even though it happened years ago, I still feel sorry for the girls family. Now, foxnews should just let her REST IN PEACE!
“Products of conception”….You mean a living, breathing human being. Give me a break with this liberal crap.
Yet another 2 senseless deaths due to taking the coward’s way out of a difficult situation. Abortion is murder, plain and simple. If you are old enough to do the “crime” (ie consensual sex) then you are old enough to do the “time” (bearing and caring for the child).
Remove RU-486 from the market NOW!
I have a major problem with the thrust of this article and its headline. I believe it is far more accurate to state that the teenager died after a misdiagnosis and failure to receive proper medical treatment of her condition. I have just as much a problem with many of the statements made by commentators on this story.
“Devout Christians” do indeed have abortions. Indeed, in Jesus time it was believed that human life came with the first breath – and not before. The Bible is basically silent on abortion.
Devout Christians also kill human beings. The current President views himself as a devout Christian, and while governor of Texas, he oversaw the highest number of executions ever in his state. He also has led numerous Christian soldiers into what many perceive as an unjust war – using St. Augustine’s criteria for such a war.
To attribute a misdiagnose to a function of socialized medicine has nothing but political bias to support such a claim. Does anyone have comparative statistics between the rate of misdiagnoses in American hospitals vs. the rate in Great Britain’s hospitals? Those would perhaps be worthy of comment, much more so than this one single anecdotal story.
any other drug that killed so many would be pulled from the market.
Unfortunately the culture of death is in love with itself. When one attempts one one life, nature will takes its natural defense. There are natural ways of courtship, marriage, and self-control that come about with a culture of life, love and responsability. I will pray for all affected and I do not pass judgment on anyone. God does that. But the actions do not need be said that they are wrong. Obviously they are!
This article states that the teens Mother describes her daughter as a “devout Christen teen.” Umm, what am I missing here? Devout Christians do not have pre-marital sex for number one. They don’t have abortions for number two, and they certainly wouldn’t be involved with a Muslim for number three.
Sounds like her Mother didn’t really know her daughter.
Ah, the wonderful hypocrites come along to spread their bible quotes all over a story about a death. Regardless of how it happened, a young girl died, people. And you all use it as an excuse to beat your thoughts into everyone else’s heads.
A girl died. Barely more than a child herself, she made a decision, more than likely based on her parents’ “devout” religion more than her own. Most teen girls who get abortions are the children of parents who are strict and the girls do not feel comfortable talking to them about their problems. Chew on that next time you paste a wall of scripture somewhere.
Talk to your children, for crying out loud. Talk to your children.
A. Girl. Died. It doesn’t matter that it was an abortion that killed her, that death is not justified.
I am sickened by people like you all.
It is very sad that the culture of death is in love with itself and takes risks and many lives to live with the agenda of those who support it and eventually die with it.
I will pray for all affected and I do not pass judgment on anyone. God does that very perfectly. But for those who fail to abstract facts from facts, sex outside of marriage, abortion, and acts against reason are aboviously wrong. May both the child and the mother rest in peace and may this sad event be a lesson that the responsability of a nation is greater than of an individual who can no longer choose life!
sex outside of marriage, acts against reason and abortion has to go!!!
BOY, SOME OF YOU “CHRISTIANS” SURE ARE HATEFUL. AND YOU WONDER WHY THERE IS SUCH A BACKLASH AGAINST CHRISTIANS. I KNOW NOT ALL CHRISTIANS ARE HATE-FILLED HYPOCRITES, BUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE THEM ALL LOOK BAD. TO JON, GENE, J. ASH: I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE. THE MAJORITY OF THESE COMMENTS ARE JUST PLAIN SICKENING. THERE IS NOTHING CHRISTIAN ABOUT THEIR ATTITUDES. JUST A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE.
So sad. So sad that this drug kills both mother and baby. And so sad the English medical system was too busy to take care of her. So much for socialized care!
“products of conception”, what a wonderful way to refer to an unborn child, especially when it’s unwanted., Women have many choices, the pill, condoms (no glove, no love), IUD, norplants, and just sying NO to name a few. When will people learn that abortion by any name is not a rightful “choice” but a crime against morality. Two wrongs don’t make a right. I though devout Muslims were all about chastity same as Christians. I guess the words “No, really I do love you” is more important than anyones religious beliefs. To bad, I’m sure there were some hopeful adoptive parents out there who could have given this baby a loving home. For all who want to talk about some”lump of cells” keep in mind that a babys DNA is determined within a few days of conception and fingerprints are developed at 8 weeks. Both of these things will determine a persons identity and should give people the idea that an unborn child is still a child. For those who disagree you are in good company, Stalin and Hitler were also proponents of abortion.
First to Jon, lot’s of thing people do are perfectly legal; but that doesn’t make them moral. A “devout” Christian would know the difference.
Next to Tawnya. I am making NO judgement about this girls soul … but she had a hand in her death. She made some very bad decisions and our decisions have consequences … they can’t always be swept under the rug as if they never happened.
I am not condemning her, as you’ve implied; I am condemning her sins. (Remember, she was a devout Christian!)
This young woman made a whole string of really bad mistakes and she has now paid a price for those mistakes. No, I don’t believe God has reached out and piunished her by taking her life, she was a free moral agent and as such was free to make her own desicion about how she would live.
ANd Tawnya, what have I judged? Is fornication a sin? Yes! Is abortion a sin? Yes! Was it a bad idea for a devout Christian to date a muslim? YES!
Grow up Tawwnya and you too Jon!
Sad…
Life is becoming less and less sacred.
You all anger me, stupid christian zealots. This girl was not a devout christian, her mother in her grief describes her as such to help in explaing the tragic loss. All of you so called christians (who should be full of christs love and forgiveness) are very quick to condem a relationship with a Muslim Love is Love, Jesus would not condem a muslim, where is your humanity.
As for socialised medicine, Im British, I live in USA. The British system is humane, the US systems is based on material greed. Which one do you think Jesus would prefer. Sure hospitals get busy in UK, as they do in the US. Difference being anyone who needs help gets it, not so in the US.
Socialised medicine (whatever that is supposed to mean – lets face it – Britain is not a socialist country) is just as advanced and succesful as insurance based medicine.
The tragedy here is a young girl lost her life, and a mother lost her daughter. Christians feel the pain and dont judge, as Jesus would have you. And any Christian who feels they can comment on Muslims, unless you are one, dont.
“Product of pregnancy”…You mean part of the baby don’t you?
Part of the baby not “product of the pregnancy”
RU-486 kills two more . . .
500,000 deaths . . . and counting.
My heart breaks . . .
The Bible has always regarded abortion – killing the child in the womb as murder, a crime punishable by the death penalty. The grounds for this judgment are “Thou shalt not kill” (Ex.20:13); Child Sacrifice, “he shall surely be put to death” (Leviticus 20:1-5); and Exodus 21:22-23, where an example of abortion is found:
“If men strive, and hurt a women with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life” (Ex.21:22-23).
In Exodus 21: 22-23, the Bible sets forth a minimal case with larger implications for justice to be served by the civil authorities
whatever liliana, she still killed her own child and it just simply came back to her, remmeber in this world you pay for everything!!!!! too bad she died in sin cause she was a murderer before she died there goes her family’s supposibly beliefs thats bull when u bring religion involved is about yourself not religion.
cowardly cop out? It states so in the article that she was afraid of the consequences from the father of her child and his family? She was trying to appease them and make a fatal error. Despite religious believes and whether or not she was devout, a young girl still lost her life. And the life of the child within her. But everyone here wants to criticize. Tawnya nailed if. Jesus recognized the sins of an adulterer and still forgave. Why can’t you people acknowledge the sin and forgive? Everyone is so high, mighty and holier than thou on their beliefs that they don’t even realize that Jesus died on the cross so ya’ll can think like that. It’s a sin to judge. Some of the comments I am seeing are blasphemous and hypocritical. I am a cristian and I would not call myself devout and I am not going to criticize this girl over what the media wrote. I’m going to pray for her family to have the strength to get through this tradgedy. I hope some of you people will do the same. And for all those that have made comments along the same lines as this, thank you for seeing that this is a life that was ended and acknowledging and forgive this girls mistakes. That is what her family needs now, is to know that people can have some sympathy, even though there are alot more people acting like savages.
well known lecturer in medical schools. He “asked one of his classes what they would recommend in the following case:
“The father had syphillus.
“The mother had TB.
“They had four children already.
“One was blind.
“One was born dead.
“One was a deaf mute.
“One had TB.
“The mother was pregnant with her fifth child.
“Almost without exception, the medical students indicated that they would recommend abortion.
“The lecturer then stated, ‘Congratulations! You have just killed BEETHOVEN!’”
Gene – Amen to that!
Job 3:16
Babies that die before birth are called “infants” that never saw light. This is exactly like babies that are aborted. This word (Heb. OLEL) always and without exception refers to human individuals (cf. Hosea 13:16; Psalm 8:2; Joel 2:16).
Numbers 12:12; Luke 1:43
In Numbers 12:12, when Miriam became leprous, she was described “as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb.” If a baby dies before it is born — as in an abortion — the woman who conceived it is still a “mother.”
In Luke 1:43, Elizabeth addressed Mary as “the mother of my Lord” before Jesus was born.
The word “mother” (Heb. EM; Greek METER), in contexts referring to physical human reproduction, always refers to one who has procreated or formed another human individual, a separate and distinct individual from the mother herself (see Num. 6:7; Gen. 3:20; Luke 1:60). A woman who has conceived, even if the child is not yet born and even if it dies before birth, is a “mother.”
Luke 1:41,44
Elizabeth conceived (v. 24), and the life “in her womb” is called a “babe” or “baby” (Greek BREPHOS). This is the second-most-common New Testament word for a baby. It is always used for that which is a human individual separate and distinct from its mother (see Luke 2:12,16; Acts 7:19.)
Jesus warns that a day will come when women will think it better to never bear a child as he carried his cross. That day has come. Girls are so self focused and many people have absolutely no regard for the sanctity of life.
Luke 23:27-29
27A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him. 28Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. 29For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’
How sad it is that another scared young woman lost her life because of choice. The feminazi’s are well aware that abortion is not only killing a baby (not a blob of tissue, not “the remains of conception,” but a human being) but is also killing their mothers. This teen’s life is one of many who have died as a result of abortion procedures, but the liberal media will never let their stories be told. There should be a public outcry over this, but its a well kept secret. Baby seal pups and murderers on death row have more rights than an unborn child. God help us all.
John, when did I say that the baby didn’t exist? When did I? I believed I referenced it as a child. I can just see past her mistakes on wanting an abortion and I can focus on the bad effects of the pill taking not just the BABY’S LIFE but here. Learn to read smart@$$
You know, it’s the garbage I hear coming out of so called “christians” right now that caused me to lose my faith. I didn’t want to be grouped in with a bunch of self-righteous holier than thou judgmental opinionists. I still follow a good path and I still lead a good life to standards that are believed to be righteous. But I will never refer to myself as a christian because I don’t want to sour my name. You people make me sick. A girl has DIED. Her CHILD died. All because the medical system didn’t see her urgently. And that fact that almost everyone in here is quick to rag on the fact that she had a muslim boyfriend, or she had an abortion. The higher power will forgive those sins, and welcome her into his arms, but he’s looking down on all of you shaking his heads.
Oh, John. Those helpless unborn children. Why did you post that link? Why did I look? I sit here crying for them. How horrible. How sad. How awful. Those poor little children, the most innocent victims.
The only thing Mr. Deagan forgot is that not only 7 women, but tens of 1000’s of babies have been given the death penalty without ever doing anything to deserve it….that is the most disgusting part of abortion…the choice to live is stolen from the unborn and usurped by the mother…how sad!!!!!
Let’s not forget that the only person here with any rights is the woman. That’s it. If the father wants to keep the baby, it’s up to the woman. The fate of the unborn child, who I’m certain wants to live, is up to the woman. No one else has any rights!!
The breakdown of marriage doesn’t help, either. A married woman who has an oops! pregnancy most often will not abort. But with 13 & 14-year-olds getting pregnant, 68% of marriages ending in divorce, and one-night stands becoming more common, it’s no wonder!!
The article should really be about how this pill has killed 500,000 children in the U.S. alone, mostly poor black folks. I can’t believe Obama is on the bandwagon to exterminate blacks in America, because this is what abortion is single-handedly doing.
Safe and Legal? The truth pro-abortion forces don’t want getting out.
Way to go, guys, saying that she deserved to die. Does anyone remember the boyfriend is still alive? He was also the “terrible person” that dared to have sex as well, doesn’t he deserve to die? If you truly believe others who make their own decisions without worrying what you have to say about them first (How dare they?!) you should start killing these people yourself (not the men of course, only the women that dared have sex.) If that’s such a smart idea and it’s so right and moral you just go right ahead. Jackass.
Oh, just a heads up, it’s called products of conception/pregnancy because that encompasses blood and placental tissue as well as fetal tissue. Products of conception is a shorter statement than “everything that came out of the uterus that was created from conception including fetal tissue, placental tissue/yolk sac, amniotic fluid and blood, ” not because the medical community is trying to avoid your “truth.”
Also, Mandy, follow up exams are done for a reason, to be sure that the woman has passed the fetus. If she does not go to the follow up and medical professionals are thus unable to verify no tissue has been left behind, the abortion care providers cannot be blamed for her death. Women seeking abortions are told how important follow up exams are, and cannot force women to come in afterward. It wasn’t the abortion that killed her, it was septic infection resulting from left over tissue that should have properly been diagnosed early on, not a month and a half later.
Roger Fant that comment was mean also when were we allowed to call each other names enough of that Gene
Thank you courtney. it’s about time someone knows a little something about science and anatomy and physiology. well said. Selia I am so sorry that you have lost the want to be called a christian. I hope you still believe that there is someone there for you. I hope that over zealous idiots will cease the comments that have cause you not to want to be considered a christian.
my heart goes to the family and the boyfriend. I am sorry for your loss and the lack of medica care she should have recieved. I hope that this article will help to improve medical facilities in all areas.
Still much safer than a back alley coat hanger abortion. 7 deaths in 500,000? You have a greater chance of dying crossing the street. Safe medicine should be available to all.
DON’T DO ANYTHING TO GET PREGNANT THEN THERE WON’T BE A PROBLEM, IN OTHER WORDS DON’T HAVE SEX AND THEN SAY OOPS. GET MARRIED FIRST.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if this drug was used for another purpose besides abortion… it would be pulled off the market immediately. it is harmful to women, yet for the sake of “choice” it is still available. it speaks volumes about who we are as a people if we silently sit back and let the beautiful women that surround us to be allowed to make the horrible “choice” of abortion…especially by the means of a pill that is deathly harmful to a mother. it speaks of our society’s carelessness and lack of knowledge. (if you are anyone you know is suffering from the effects of abortion, please visit http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org)
BiogenIdec produces a drug named Tysabri for multiple sclerosis. People taking the drug are usually VERY ill with poor life quality. For many it dramatically improves their condition. Two people died from a very rare brain virus related to the drug’s use in combination with another drug. The FDA immediately removed Tysabri’s approval. I can’t imagine why in this case the drug remains on the market. Social progressiveness should not trump a drug’s safety controls.
My understanding of this is that a young woman, described as “devout” Christian had an abortion that killed her. The “morning after pill” is not safe and that the hospitals were “too busy” to notice she was dying? Missing anything? Would someone please look up the meaning of devout before they start shooting at the Christians who post on here who have an objection to the term being used to describe a young woman who had pre-marital sex and an abortion? I think that’s what most of ‘em are objecting to. “Devout” means pious in this case. Piousness is not to be mistake with casualness.
One of the things that grabs my attention is the dehuminazation of the unborn child, the “choice” of the matters at hand, the millions of dollars at stake, and the idea that the government believes they can make all things better.
1.) I am the father of a stillborn child. My Katie was very much a wanted child as my wife and I was unsure that we could conceive, very much a miracle in the making for us. February 11th, 2003, at 20 weeks in the womb, Katie’s chord prolapsed, killing her. I have a picture if anyone cares to see, exactly what this “product of conception” looks likes. She’s a baby, and for anyone to argue otherwise is trying to dehumanize our children so that my win the battle of rhetoric and gain from the money that abortionists offer. Anyone, I dare anyone, who believes that Katie was not a baby to sit down with the grieving parents of an unborn child and hold that child, just as my wife and I did before were forced to bury her. Then look those grieving parents in the eye and tell them “that’s not a baby, it’s a fetus.” Make your case then. Try it, see if it doesn’t change you outlook on the unborn still in the womb. Katie couldn’t live because she couldn’t breathe. Take a look at her picture and tell me those aren’t hands, or feet, or eyes, or a mouth set in a grim determination that said she didn’t want to die, but to live. And by the way, NYS law says that a baby who dies in the womb at 20 weeks and older MUST be turned over to a funeral home for proper burial and treated just as any other person must be.
2.) Did this young woman have a “choice” in the matter? Where’s the supposed “choice” of abortion? “Oh, well, it’s a woman’s body and she has a ‘choice’ in the matter,” is so often quoted that it’s become the most laughable line of the 20th and 21st centuries, more of a joke instead of a mantra. We have too many organizations feeding to young women that they can’t be mother’s to have a fulfilling life. They HAVE to have LIFE. In their definition that means they MUST do as the organizations sees fit: “enter the workplace” they are told. “Build a career” they are told. “Don’t settle down and marry, a truly independant woman only needs herself to live a good life,” they are told. Never once do we hear from the liberal women’s organizations that being a mother is good. That being a stay at home mom can be fulfilling, that raising a child is the most single important thing a person can do. “No,” they say, “being a mom is antiquated.” So if this is truly choice I would ask you the motives this young woman had. A many of you who posted that “it’s because of the beliefs of her parents and his parents.” Are you sure? Or is the tripe that the many more liberal organizations hand out that led this young woman to believe that she would never have a “life” (ironic isn’t it?) if she had a child. To say she was “devout” would have meant she would have turned to spiritual advisors seeking councel on this. Maybe she did, but then turned around and ignored her beliefs and her teachings to listen to the world around her. Christ tells to in this world, not a part of it. So did she cave to pressures society put on her? Oh, by the way, if it’s true “choice” then my wife and I choose to have Katie back, right now, at the age of five. Can’t do that? Then if you can’t restore life, don’t be so quick to allow the end of it.
3.) For those of you living in the US I want you to consider this: abortion is a multi-million dollar industry supported by those who make this money, either through private funding, taxpayers funding, insurance money. Please, people, it’s all about the money and who controls it. If organizations like Planned Parenthood truly cared about women’s health and women’s rights then they wouldn’t push so hard to keep abortion legal. A recent study done in Australia showed that ten years after an abortion 75% of the women who had an abortion turned to alcohol to ease their guilt. Ninety-five percent had thoughts of suicide. Ninety-eight percent said they so consumed with guilt they had a hard time functioning at times. If this is truly about women’s health, then why doesn’t Planned Parenthood, the NOW, etc have programs in place to help women such as these? It seems that the long term psychological effects are about the health of women, so why not set up a program to help them with their health? Why? Because there’s no money in it. The money comes from promoting the abortion agenda. Here’s another example of money overcoming the supposed concern for women: the AMA’s own research. More woman are sent to the ER or to the morgue today due to botched abortions than in 1968. How can that be when we hear so much about coat hanger abortions happening “back in the day?” Because abortion doctors are considered the dregs of their society, willing to work for clinic fees and a smaller salary and not willing to put the time or study in to get ahead. These are doctors who couldn’t get a job anywhere else. After all, if a doctor graduates 125th out of a graduating class of a 125, you still call him doctor. If it was about women’s health, and not about the money, then this static would be the other way around.
Good. Maybe now a woman will think twice before she decides to take the life of an innocent child.
If 7 women had died since 2000 from any other drug on the market, that drug would have been yanked of the shelves so fast both here in the US and in England as well. It just proves once again that there is such a double standard when it comes to the “sacred cow” known as the right to abortion.
Has any one ever heard, “Judge not, lest ye be judged”
How dare anyone judge this girl. You don’t know her and you don’t know her situation. That fact that so many have condemned a christian girl for dating a muslim is disgusting. Go back and read Samuel, you might learn that God is no respecter of persons. God loves everyone. EVERYONE. Muslims, non-muslims, Christians, non-christians, people who abhor abortion and people who commit abortion. God loves them all and commands all of us to love them too. The hypocrisy of all the negative statements toward this girl, her faith, or against Muslims is awful. I am personally hoping for more grace and mercy from God than so many on here have given this girl.
If your so devot “christian” why are you having sex ? God is punshing you for that
He (or She) who commits murder and escapes the penalty is NOT vindicated but received Mercy. He (or she) who commits murder and suffers the penalty has received the recompense of their crime.
IT IS NOT A STRETCH TO ASSERT THE ODVIOUS THAT THIS WOMAN HAS HEARD THOSE DREADED WORDS SPOKEN FROM THE JUDGE OF THE UNIVERSE “DEPART FROM ME YE WORKER OF INIQUITY, I NEVER KNEW YOU”.

IT IS NOT A STRETCH TO ASSERT THE ODVIOUS THAT THIS WOMAN HAS HEARD THOSE DREADED WORDS SPOKEN FROM THE JUDGE OF THE UNIVERSE “DEPART FROM ME YE WORKER OF INIQUITY, I NEVER KNEW YOU”.
Eye for an eye.
Tooth for a tooth.
Life for a life.
She made a choice. She lived (and then died) as a consequence.
1) She had premarital sex, and if a Christian, she should not have.
2) As a Christian, she should not have had an abortion, if she was such a believer. Don’t blame the pill, blame her choice.
3) The pill has saved many unwanted children lives of neglect, abuse and poverty. So many sad children, so many damaged adults because they did not have good upbringing.
4) This is still a safe alternative if a woman opts for abortion. I imagine she did not disclose that she took the pills when she went to the hospital for care.
5) What about men? It’s not usually women who are the ones pressuring for premarital sex, it is the men. If you want to place blame, blame her so called boyfriend.
6) I am sad for the young woman and her family. Until MEN are made liable and accountable for pressuring young girls into sex, this type of thing will happen. It’s HIS fault. And sadly, a bad choice on her part.
Sad story, young woman, lost life. All around a mess. But, the option should still be there.
Life is messy, people are young, they have no money, and don’t want to give their babes up for adoption because of complex reasons. Many women will be abused if they give birth. Many won’t have medical care. It’s not THAT simple, folks. And, I’m a very conservative person!
Before everyone attacks the choice of abortion or the method to find fault, one also has to wonder if she was up front with the health care workers when she went in for treatment.
Did she tell them about the pills or pregnancy? Or were they too busy to hear her answers?
It is unfortunate.
I have read through many of the comments. So many attack the choice of abortion, the choice of method and the choice of inter-faith relationships.
My questiona are very simple. Who are we to judge them? Which wants to throw the first stone? Who has not done something that if brought under public scrutiny would earn the same type responses? If religion was removed from this would everyone care as much? If the subject was not abortion would you be as outraged over another’s death?
Whether her decision was right or wrong is between her and God. We can all learn from this in one way or the other. Let’s try to.
Laura and anyone else wondering why Fox is reporting the story now. It appears the inquest was just held and these were the findings. Read and comprehend….
Sad story, regardless, on many levels.
It seems to me that those who are afraid of judgments of ANY KIND are fighting a guilty conscience.
Those of you who EDIT scripture to partial quotes omitting the rest of that scripture or the balance of the issue as scripture gives it only do so to comfort yourselves from the fear of the FULL TRUTH AND IT’S RECOMPENCEING MEANING IT HAS FOR YOU.
THE JUDGE CONDEMNS THE GUILTY PERSON TO PUNISHMENT WHILE IT IS THE JURY THAT FINDS THE VERDICT OF WHETHER OR NOT GUILT APPLIES AND TO WHAT DEGREEE THAT APPLICATION IS.
I FIND THIS PERSON GUILTY OF MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE AND THAT DUE TO THE PARTICULAR HEINIOUS ASPECTS OF THE CRIME, TO WIT; THE VICTIM WAS SO YOUNG AND DEFENSLESS AS WELL AS THE POSITION OF TRUST OF THE ATTACKER.
I FIND THAT EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES DO EXIST AND THUS THE DEATH PENALTY DOES APPLY.
I BELIEVE THE JUDGE HAS ALREADY SPOKEN THE SENTENCE.
You know what is sad? We got all these wannabe “pious” bible thumpers in here that want to throw that first stone, Christi. But Let me point out the sad truth. Alot of them are judgemental because of their own sins. How many “christians” in here had sex before marraige? How many “christians” in here got pregnant before marraige? how many “christians” in here are with someone a little less “devout” than you are? If you have committed these sins, than you need to shuttup with the criticism. I will be straight up. I had sex before marraige, got my wife pregnant before we were married, and she is wiccan. What now? But oh wait, I’m not the one passing harsh judgement saying this woman deserved what she got. Ya’ll need to reavaluate the things that you say because in the future, you may have to cross those bridges that you burned today. And you’re going to have to live with the things you say. So go ahead. Keep it up. You won’t outrun what is waiting in your future.

All things considered the risk of maternal death from RU-486 is about 1/100 the risk of childbirth, and about 1/15 that of taking aspirin. So much for the hysteria of organizations like American Life League, Concerned Women for America and Focus on the Family.
How sad. This should be on the front page of every newpaper. Girls think this mathod is perfectly safe.
