Some people are just prone to ingrown hairs whether they shave or wax. Tend skin has been great in treating ingrown hairs (a salicylic product). I agree extremely large ingrowns that have gotten to the point of an abscess needs to be treated by a doctor. I have seen great results with the laser although I disagree that all hair colors can be treated. Grey, white, very blonde, and translucent red hairs do not respond well to the laser. They might get a small decrease but not worth the money to acheive the results. There needs to be some brown or black color to the hair for the laser to work well. I have used multiple lasers including RF that claim to treat hair of different colors and I was not impressed. I have seen best results with diode lasers.

If this physician advertises laser hair removal as painless, he has obviously never had it done. It is a wonderful thing, but feels a bit like getting popped with hot rubber bands - though the discomfort decreases with each treatment as the follicle count decreases.

If he is speaking of some new laser technique - please share!
