Sexpert Q & A: Physical Symptoms of Sexual Frustration
Dear Yvonne,
What causes “blue balls”? And can it do any damage not to get sexual relief?
- Mathieu
Dear Mathieu,
Both males and females experience “blue balls,” a more common term for vasocongestion. Vasocongestion is the accumulation of blood in the blood vessels of a region of the body, especially the genitals. While vasocongestion can be uncomfortable and frustrating if one does not experience sexual release when sexually aroused, it’s not going to harm anyone’s health. If sexually frustrated from “blue balls,” one can always take matters into their own hands (wink, wink).

I find Dr. Fulbrights’ column to be informative and stimulating.
Dear Yvonne,
This is a two fold question. Why sometimes after a man has an orgasm all of the sperm is not released causing disconfort to urinate until the additional sperm has been released?
And would this explain one of issues with the R. Kelly sex tape and urinating?
Thanks Vinnie,
The information provided is extremely informative to all males I would say. I’ve learned a lot myself reading your articles. Keep ‘em coming!
should a 70 year man be thinking about sex all the time?
should a 70 year old man be thinking about sex all the time?
In her answer to Mathieu about “blue balls,” Dr. Fulbright erred slightly. The “hands on approach” will give a very temporary respite from this painful problem, but in the long run, it exacerbates (never realized before the similarity of sound to another word relative to this discussion!) the problem. Masturbation never provides a total release as does actual orgasm resulting from sexual intercourse. My layman’s opinion is that what is needed for total release is the psychological component; I am convinced sexual satisfaction (certainly for me) is more than 50% dependent upon psychological stimulation.
Also, I have found that most antihistamines–especially pseudophedrine–cause me to be very, very susceptible to the blue ball problem; so much so that very little sexual stimulation is requisite to causing an attack. Since I will be 70 years old in just a few months, I find avoiding antihistamines is my primary concern!
I do find Dr. Fulbright’s no-nonsense approach in her explanations very refreshing; however, I sometimes wonder how a female can know so much about things that I had always considered strictly “guy things.”
If the ring finger is smaller (the same, larger) than the index finger this indicates the size of his penile erectus?
Not always. My ring finger is about a half inch smaller than my index finger. The nickname given to me by my fellow airline pilots (sometimes sharing a hotel room in training/re-current training)
was…..”TRIPOD”.
On Monday, you wrote an article on “The seven mot embarrasing moments”. I have a funny. While my husband was performing oral sex on me, I accidently “passed wind”. He immediately stopped. About 10 seconds later (which seemed forever), he came up to me, nose to nose and said “why did you fart in my face!”
somewhat interesting. A question: will the semen of an older male, in his 70’s, taste less interesting and enjoyable to his partner than it did in earlier times? I’ve been a bit loath to get to that level with a new lady due to my uncertainty in this matter.
Dr.Fulbright,I enjoy reading your articles and have learned from them, thanks. I have been reading comments from other readers and the negative feedback that some people reply with reminds me of how close minded so many people in this country are.
I think that you are absolutly beautiful! Do you have a single sister? Just kidding, im a married man. Keep up the good work that you do.
Yvonne, if a eunuch was accused of rape, do you think he would be acquitted?
Yvonne, was Solomon the only man who had access to all those haroms? And , do you think God rewards holy men with strong sex drives?
Yo Yvonne. People with ADD take ritalin. Ritalin can make one horny. ADD is genetic. Therefore, there will be an explosion of ADD births. Agree?
If men can get blue balls, can girls get pink balls?
