Sexpert Q&A: Lust vs. Love
Dear Yvonne,
Can lust turn into love? I’m trying to sort through a situation I’m in…
- Isaac
Dear Isaac,
There are tons of factors that play into whether or not hot sexual chemistry will make for an “in love” relationship, or if a good friendship can turn you into one hot’n’bothered buddy. Research on this matter indicates that while it is possible that feelings can change in feeling lust towards somebody, it’s not guaranteed. Any possibility of the physical turning lovey dovey has to do with the hormones connected to sexual desire possibly triggering the release of oxytocin, the chemical associated with love and romance. This reaction may lead to romantic feelings, turning something physical and casual into a love relationship. Known as the “bonding hormone,” oxytocin is believed to influence a lover’s feelings for his or her lover.

Isaac: Can lust lead to love…sure it can! My experience has been, though, that if either (or both) are only interested in the feelings they get with lust (and they’re kick *ss feelings!!!), they should tread carefully because any potential relationship probably won’t last. Communication and honesty helps both lovers discover if they are ready and able to move to the next level, the responsible commitment that comes with love. If you are a male under 30, more often than not, you are not ready for this type of commitment. Have fun and experience life!
im a little annoyed we have a sexpert. our culture is saturated with sex. it’s everywhere. does Fox have to promote it also?
Why are we Amercians so hung up on sex? There is nothing wrong with the nake body. Sex is not dirty, people make it that way. God gave us a beatuiful gift for a man to enjoy and pleasure a women and a woman to enjoy and pleasure a man. If we Americans weren’t so hung up on sex maybe they wouldn’t be as many problems here. Sex is always discussed in private and secretly this has lead to relationship problems. I think it is great that Fox writes a column on it. I had no place to go and learn about sex and now I do. Can’t talk about it at school, work, or with your parents so where do you go…Fox Sex expert! I share it with family and friends. There is more to sex than sex itself. Fox Expert discusses all aspects of sex. Its one stop for questions about sex. Thanks Fox Sex Expert!
I for one am glad that fox has a sexpert. In this era of sex sells all,we need a good pathfinder to lead the way and help us tell the difference between sex(lust) and love.Rock on Yvonne!
