She already has 6 kids, that she can’t afford to take care off, who’s flipping the bill for all this and in the years to come,….you and I are. The hardworking taxpayer, that is who. She does not deserve these children, she can’t even afford to feed them. They should be taken away from her and given to parents who can afford to bring them up and give them a good home. Then tie her tubes, so she can’t try this stunt again.

I’m outraged that any humane ethical doctor would implant 8 eggs in a single, unemployed, unmarried mother of 6 children under 8 years of age!!!????!!!! What is going on here???? I am married, my husband and I are self employed for 28 out of 29 years of marriage, we are responsible and we had 4 children in 10 years (our first at age 26). I often found myself harried and too often felt as though I didn’t have enough time and patience with them. And SHE’S going to have quality time as a single mother for 14??????? I doubt it and so the burden will fall on teachers, wrap-arounds, and us, the responsible taxpayers!!! And one more thing…I NEVER, EVER, EVER asked anyone else to pay for any one of them. We were never on welfare and never even borrowed a dime for their college tuitions (3 are graduated with one going next year). We scrimped, saved, and NEVER carried a balance on a credit card. Are we unusual? I doubt it – just tried to do the right thing – something missing with far too many people today. I’ll say one thing…I’m sick of people like this woman.

I believe that the doctor that placed this woman into the situation should now share it with her rather than let taxpayers pick up the bill directly or indirectly. How can anyone go through that amount of education and not have the common sense to see that a single unemployed mother of 6 is not in a position to afford an additional 8 children.

This story makes me more angry everytime I read about it. Now she has the audacity to seek money from any media interaction! What this lady needs is to have her kids taken away from her. Not only did she already have kids, but sought to purposely have MORE and as many as possible! Then she demands that people giver her money to help take care of them. She obviously cannot do it by herself, and yet she chose to put the babies and herself in this situation. 14 kids under 8 years old in one house (that is her parents house, not even hers or a spouses)??!! It is absolutely ridiculous. And the media frenzy that is virutally rewarding her for her stupidity and selfishness makes it all worse. Who else reading this story is going to think it is a great idea to go have a bunch of babies in the hopes of book deals & tv show appearances? I guarantee there are more than enough stupid people who will try it. It makes me angry. But, well, what do I know??

I believe that the doctor that put her into this situation should be held full accountable and let him support these additional 8 members of this woman’s family. How can anyone complete the schooling and get the education required to do something like this without having the common sense to know when to apply what he or she has learned. Let him or her bear the full financial burden of this rather than all the taxpayers.

The welfare issue aside, many don’t realize that the fertility issue might just be for her boyfriend. Many men cannot have kids either and require a fertility expert to help them. I don’t think she did the fertility treatments for her own benefit but it was probably so she could have a child with her current boyfriend. HE was probably the infertile one and the one wanting a child. The ultimate responsibility rests on her, true, but let’s not let him off the hook completely here. She still needed the help of a male to accomplish this task. And I don’t think these kids were from a sperm donor. There’s a man in the picture somewhere who is being let COMPLETELY off the hook by the public/media. That isn’t fair, anymore than expecting hard working taxpayers to foot her bill is fair. If she was obsessed with having babies, she needed to have her head examined. This was obsessive behavior and should have been treated as a mental illness. The doctors should also be reprimanded for their reckless behavior.
I was in hospital cafeteria a few days ago when this was being discussed. A young black female worker said she didn’t see anything wrong with it. Of course I do since my taxes will be taking care of these little ones who are innocent of any wrong doing.
I feel so sorry for the other six little ones who will suffer from their mother not having the time or energy to raise them. Also sorry for the grand parents who are put in position of slavery to their daughter’s family. They should have used a bit of ‘tough love’ a long time ago – maybe before that first child was conceived.
I too had 4 children and regret the lack of time spent individually on each. I never asked for assistance either – that’s the way families behaved in my day.

Hey Dawn, I heard that she is not married, never has been and has used a sperm donor (who has now been identified – poor guy) for all 14 children. How about that one? I also heard that she is not a stupid person – she is educated and contemplating getting her Master’s Degree in some psychology major. I’ll bet you 100 to 1 that everything she’s done has been at our expense – IVF for the first 6 and now the last 8, education, health insurance, food, EVERYTHING. Once you start on the public dole, it’s tough to get off – kind of like an addiction. And what can we do about this, you ask? Nothing…..absolutely nothing.

If I see her face on any talk show or on any magazine, I will no longer view the show nor purchase the magazine. I also must say great work to all the doctors and nurses to get these babies to 31 weeks, I know how difficult it is to work in this environment.

This fertility doctor has done something extremely unethical. I have never heard of a fertility doctor that would do this to a woman that already has 6 children. She is not infertile and should have never been able to go through the process. I also don’t think it is good for the media to promote this or to pay this mother for interviews etc. What many people don’t see is that there are many people that have gone through multiple births with numerous complications and frequently death of many of the babies or all the babies. I feel for people who go through the IVF process and see shows that promote multiple birth. I have seen a show on the Discovery Channel that showed families that didn’t fair well with multiple births–some watched all babies die, some watched some die and the ones that did survive were blind and mentally retarded.

Although I’ve already written a couple of pieces, I neglected to answer the question, “Who’s responsible for octuplet’s birth?” The quick answer is “The mother” but the ultimate answer in this bizarre case and the real truth is, “The responsible tax payer”. As a small self-employed business owner, I have yet to send in my tax deposit for December and I’m seriously considering not sending it to a government that is not “of the people, by the people and for the people”. I love this country but things have gone awry in the years since Lyndon Baines Johnson and his “Great Society” which is nothing more than never ending generations of welfare recipients who never learn to care for or support themselves and their progeny. My dream is to start a taxpayer revolt!!

The mother will sue the doctors when all of those cute babies are 15 and out of control. those dr.s are accountable until the babies are 18 yr. old.

I agree that the behavior of this woman and her fertility doctor is disgusting, but there is one thing I have not heard anyone talk about. Could the reason that her pregnancy lasted so long and the babies are so healthy have something to do with the fact she gave birth to 6 children previously? She has proven to be a “good breeder” which may have helped her along in this incredibly stressful and dangerous pregnancy.

We also need to remember that all 14 kids are innocent. In my opinion, the mom is guilty of neglect and carelessness towards every one of those kids. Forget the money involved, how could a single woman ever be able to take care of 14 kids under the age of 8 on her own? The answer is she can’t. Just the same way she is now expecting handouts, I am sure she expects others to raise these kids for her, beginning with volunteers around the clock to feed, change, and care for the newborns, and later including government programs to help the kids through school. There are so many people that are truly not able to have children naturally and are in perfect shape financially and emotionally to deal with a child of their own. Here is a lady who is exactly who we as Americans should not want to raise children (our future)…not to mention 14! Irresponsible and selfish are understatements for her. The 30+ doctors are responsible for the octuplet’s birth. Who is responsible for paying for the 30+ doctors? Who is responsible for the hospital stay for Nadya? Who is responsible for the hospital stay for these poor kids? Who is responsible for the upbringing of these poor little kids? Who will pay for the housing, food, clothing, etc.? Who will pay for the wrap-arounds? And finally, who will pay when one or more of these little boys ends up in prison? (BTW, it is a FACT that 80 to 90% of men in prisons today grew up without their fathers.) The answer to every single one of these questions????? THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER. It has been reported that she doesn’t work, her actions have bankrupted her parents, (these two people even bought Nadya a two bedroom home), she is college educated and my guess is that we taxpayers paid for that too. If I am not correct, I would gladly welcome a correction.

Oh and one more thing, the name of the publicist that she has hired is Joann Killeen of Killeen Furtney Group in Los Angeles. Ms. Killeen states that Nadya is the “most sought after mom on earth”. What a dope – I’d like to meet just one person who is interested in this story, just one.

I’m a single mom of one. I made the choice to be a single mom. It’s a lot of work to raise a child alone and do a good job. It’s a lot of quality time. Why would any one want to be a single parent of 14 children under 8, BY CHOICE? Did she think at all about the 6 kids she already had? Greedy, selfish mother. She really should not be a mom at all. This woman should never get a single dime of taxpayers’ money for any of her children.

And as for her infertility doctors…this case deserves a review by the state medical board as well as the American Medical Association. The planet earth does not have an under-population problem, just the opposite. If you have fertility problems, what’s wrong with limiting yourself to one, two or three children? Babies are not meant to be born in litters. The early childcare and bonding is so very important. How an one mom bond with eight newborns while managing the quality, daily care of the the other six? She can’t and she should have known that from the beginning. Six is enough!!!!

Just thought of something else. Why did this woman feel she needed more kids? What is her motivation? Why wasn’t her maternal need satisfied with six children? Why did she crave having more kids so much? Did she go through psychiatric evaluations? Why isn’t six children enough for this woman? I think there is something emotionally or psychologically wrong with this woman. She let her own selfish desires trump her parental good sense. Strike that, I don’t think this woman has any parental good sense.

i think that it should have never been done giving a woman who already has 6 kids 8 more. What i want to know is the fertility doctor getting anything out of this from her because this just sounds like a stunt to get money done by the mother and now she is going to subject her children to this. She has no money no job and yet she can have 14 children under 8 years old. my boyfriend and i both work full time have one son and another child on the way and with the ecomony we struggle but she can afford that many kids. My son and daughter-in-law have been married 2 years, earn greater then 125,000 net and own their home, etc. They want to have a baby, just one baby. They have already paid thousands in their attempt to conceive.

Now, this crazy woman and unethical physician have produced 8 children who the taxpayers will pay for. I understand these children were born in California. California who is near bankruptcy and already letting taxpayers know that they tax returns will be very late in coming.

This is ridiculous, and she should loss her children because she is basically putting them into danger. She cannot provide adequate care for 14 children plus food and clothing. I find this amoral and disgusting. If any magazines or programs pay this woman for anything they do not desire watching because they too are amoral.

The fact is these little children are here, they are part of our country, the United States of America. They are the innocents and we need to think about what we are saying and how we are acting. This woman is a creation of the american public whether we want to admit it or not. Everyone on this site who is angry about her having multiples and then expecting money is a bit of a hypocrite. Why? Jon & Kate Plus 8, the Duggar clan, and the other shows on TLC & Discovery Health showcase these families constantly and it is obvious that they profit from this exposure. Theses shows wouldn’t continue unless they had a fan base. The fact is that they wouldn’t have a TV show if their family was of a normal size. Is it any wonder then, that when given the opportunity to gain a little of that fame & fortune that someone out there tries to top the aforementioned shows? I have one son, and was tired 8 years ago with people who seemed to seek out high multiples in order to get a new van, house, and free diapers.

As for all the other stuff about her being a single mother, having no money, etc. I think that is a lot of speculation because every news outlet has admitted that they don’t have the “facts”. Obviously she had to have some money because no doctor is going to do the procedures unless he is payed. As for being a single mother, this too is speculative. Lack of marriage doesn’t necessarily mean no partner. Also no one knows if her parents agreed early on to help her with all these kids.

In China, families are only allowed to have one child per family…the reason orphanges are filled up with girls….families need the boys to provide for them when they are older…. Is this what we want? Government telling us how many children we can have?

Maybe there ought to be a rule these doctors adhere to…. don’t do IVF unless the parents are able to provide for all babies that might result from the process… or only fertilize one egg… or as many as the parents can provide for.

The more I hear this story, it sickens me. As a mom of a beautiful 2 year old daughter conceived by in-vitro and a second in-vitro cycle scheduled for April, I wonder where the heck she got the money to even have the procedures. One cycle cost us $20,000. Yes, 20 grand for one baby. So if she doesn’t have the money to raise the babies, how did she even get to this point. There has to be something we don’t know. All I know is I don’t want my had earned tax dollars going to some woman who obviously has some serious mental issues. No one paid me for my daughter.

All she has done is made a mockery of infertility, something that is very difficult and painful journey for people to go through. With 14 kids all under the age of 7, I question if she was infertile to begin with.

I’ve heard some talk that it was more likely fertility drugs than IVF. Didn’t she use to work for a fertility clinic? I wonder if it is possible that she gave herself the drugs then had artificial insemination. If she worked at a clinic she would have access and know how to use the drugs. It may be a crazy theory but I think it may be more plausible than a doctor actually implanting 8 embryos.

This makes me so MAD!

I was married to my ex-husband when we had our children, and we stayed together as long as possible in order to provide the best POSSIBLE life for our daughters. Our “healthy” daughter has had heart problems, and also required extensive spinal fusion ( a surgery that would have cost her hospital or the tax payer about 50K if it weren’t for my ex-husband’s health insurance, and my ability to take family medical leave.) Our less-fortunate daughter is profoundly autistic. She is now 18 years old and though her dad and I no longer live together, we WORK together to assure her estate when we die, so that she will never become a ward of the state. The “healthy” daughter is now of college age, and we now work to pay for the part of her education not covered by academic scholarships. (She isn’t eligible for financial aid because I make to much money…of course that money is placed away for her sister!)

In an effort to give both children an extraordinary life, we’ve sacrificed a great deal, and we’ve worked hard…because they are worth the effort.

In retrospect, I would have loved more kids, but I and my ex-husband have our hands full providing the best possible life for our daughters.

Stories like this piss me off to no end, because the “mothers” think only of themselves, and what they can “get” from the State, and from people like Oprah.

This is totally outrageous!! She should be monitored when she gets these kids at home by DHS. Because there is NO WAY she can provide adequate care to 14 kids. If she borrowed for the IVF treatments with the intention of filing bankruptcy, she should be charged with theft or fraud. I also heard that at least one of her older 6 kids has autism. I am the mother of an autistic child, and she takes ALOT of time and energy. I feel like I can’t provide her with what she needs and I only have 1 other child. AND I have a wonderful husband to help me.

I will buy not ONE THING from any company, or watch any show that gives this woman one THIN DIME or one free product, from what I have read, when she stated to the question “why are you having so many babies” and she replied to make money, that is just stupid, she had to have had this planned, why should the taxpayers have to foot the bill for this, and I also would like to know who is paying the hospital bill for this delivery? And the bill for the Babies NICU? If this woman applies for welfare they should remove the children from the home, and if she is already getting Welfare or Medi-cal how did she pay for the Invitro? If she paid cash there has to be some sort of fraud involved, assuming like I have heard that she has medical Assistance, surely you can not have the ammount of money required for Invitro, and still get Medical Assistance. come on California, when California is already in a cash flow recession, why are we allowing this? But seriously, first of all, how she could afford all the treatments? what kind of health insurance covered her IVFs? In Manhattan IVF costs around 7K plus all the medicines around 3-4K for one cycle. And once again, no normal doctor would take risks placing 8 embryos. I read she worked in fertility clinic, she might have taken pills to stimulate the ovaries by herself and then have intercourse, but another article said she had tube problems, so it must be IVF. Anyway this is wrong. Now she wants money from the publicity, well, it is ugly, but it can be the smartest thing she did in her lifetime. It is hard and creative way to get rich, but she is in her 30, in the modern times she has many “fertile” years ahead. And in addition she can always sue the good doctor for malpractice

It absolutely saddens me that those who can’t care for their children and obviously have no sense at all are able to have children, while there of many of us who could never have any at all. This woman is a leech. I read she wants to be a TV personality specializing in GASP! Child Care!! Who is she kidding? The media needs to step back and not give her any air time. She needs to be on her own. Too bad her mom enabled her all these years as well.

These multiple births are nothing short of a miracle; however, being a single mom, no job, no income other than disability for her injury at one of her jobs. It has been noted that she has finally found something that she is ‘good at’. Let’s add another word ‘enjoyment’ which is going to cost the State of California hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years as she will probably go on Welfare and the state can pay for all of these children’s upbringing, education, food, clothing, doctors, etc. If this isn’t another scam then I don’t know what is. I’m sure she loves the children and will take care of them; however, it will be at our expense.

I see a bigger picture here. I am a foster parent and it amazes me that people that have already had children removed because they harmed them continue to produce more children. Our first child came from a 32 yr old father who had 4 kids by 4 women, he has since produced #5 with a 19 yr old. Our current came to us straight from the hospital because they (not married) had broken the arm of his 1 yr old brother. Grandma is 33…yes 33…with 4 grandkids and another on the way. She can’t take the kids because she tested positive for drugs.
Who’s responsible? “Parents” who refuse to take responsibility for the children they produce and then continue producing. It’s the biggest problem in America that can’t be fixed with trillions of dollars pumped into the system. Adoption is one answer but it takes way over a year to even begin to get these abused kids moved in that direction. You will never see that happen in this case…children cannot be removed just because they are bad parents, made bad decisions, or a single parent has 14 children…the law requires that the “parent” must have done the following for a child to be removed from the home in the first place. “The law authorizes removal if there is substantial and imminent danger to the child’s life, safety, or health”. Unfortunatley, there are many bad parents and most of them continue producing more children.

What amazes me about this is the amazing double standard in gynocology and obstetrics. I suffered my entire life with debilitating endometriosis… with little or no real effort made to alleviate the problem. I was married and had made a rational decision with my husband that we were not going to have children. Any children, ever. We are dual military, and felt that it would be impossible to be the parents we would want to be while pursuing our careers. Given this, I practicllay begged my physicians for years to simply give me a hystorectomy to stop the intense pain that I experienced. It took 6 years before I finally found a physician who (bless this man!) understood and took care of the problem… prior to that I spent years high as a kite on narcotics to managed the pain.. which was never really managed. I am lucky not to have become hopelessly addicted. It was considered abnormal that I didn’t want to have children. So a professional, stable, responsible woman couldn’t possibly know her own mind enough to give her the medical treatment required to stop years of pain (I have been completely pain free for over 2 years now!)… but a woman with no husband, no job and 6 young children isn’t questions when she seeks to have more? To decide to continue to add to an already overwhelming situation is NOT Rational, is NOT stable, is NOT responsible. Yet, physicians went along with her… because “who is to know how many is too many?” That is ABSURD…..

Wouldn’t the fact that a single mother can not physically take care of 14 children under 7 consitute imminent danger to a childs health and safety at the very least. The financial matter is another issue. The examples that other’s have pointed out as “role models” for this behavior like the Gossling’s and Duggar’s all had extensive help from family, friends, and their church’s. Plus I don’t believe that either family was motivated by monitary gain in having their children. Neither family is getting any public assistance and both are very frugal. Linda, common sense and the law don’t always agree. I’m just a parent of three of our own that have graduated or in college and, our 7th foster child. The reality is that only law enforcement can remove a child to protective custody due to imminent danger. Basically they have to be called by someone to investigate. Then there is probable cause hearing in 24 hrs and merit hearing in 30 days…the court must decide to keep the child in protective custody. Look at what happened in TX with all those kids basically being raped…most were returned because the law could not prove imminent danger to an individual child…although…common sense tells us all that was not in the best interest of those children. I agree with you but it will never happen unless she does something real bad that causes law enforcement to investigate.
Playing devils advocate though: It’s a slipery slope if the government starts yanking kids away from their parents because we don’t like how they are being raised. We don’t need a Nazi SS in the USA. And, 100 years ago most families had many children and did just fine. What we need are better parents…not…more Government. How we get there is beyond me…how people treat a child they produced the way they do is way beyond me. When I get home from a long day, our 7 mth foster boy is the joy of my life…not ours and within a year he will leave to go to adoption. How they beat his brother is the ultimate mistery…why they had him???

Are their any medical requirments and or laws that would prohibit this from happening again? This person would not quality as a mother who could support her children so how did this break down in the medical community? Who paid for this procedure as I understand this is very expensive.

I totally agree that we don’t need the government to tell us how to raise our children. I believe that parents are ultimately responsible for their own children. It just seems a double standard for the government to hand out money then not regulate how it’s being used (i.e. TARP). If your on your own dime then your on your own but if your taking public money then you should be held accountable to a certain degree. But like you said the law and common sense don’t always go hand in hand. All I know is that this is a mess and those poor kids are the ones that will wind up hurt in the end. I also don’t understand why some people have kids, just to abuse them????? Look at the recent news stories about baby Grace and Caylee, horrible stuff. I have two, 10 mos and 2 years and I understand getting frustrated with them sometimes but I just can’t comprehend that level of abuse on a small child.

I agree with Linda about he Gosslings and Duggars. Completely different situation. Both of these families could afford the children they decided to have. Both are frugal with their dollars, and never took any government hand-out. The only help they recieved was from family and friends that came in to help when the babies were tiny; help feeding and changing and rocking.
This woman nor her doctor has any common sense. Unfortunately, she will get a tv deal, and make her money. Unfortunately, someone else will try to follow her example and do the same thing. Unfortunately, these children will be the ones that suffer.
I believe the fertility doctor has to be in on the “money deal”. There is no way a doctor would do this on purpose if not for the promise of fame and fortune. He is probably waiting in the wings for the money to start rolling in.
Although the idea of putting these children up for adoption sounds, in some respects, like the most sane thing to do, I don’t believe splitting these babies up is the right thing. How about the couple mentioned a few comments up that have stable jobs, a great income, and own a home? They could probably take care of these kids without handouts, and without needing a tv deal. But then again…. I would probably watch that one.

Maybe the doctors knew that she’d become a cash machine once all the bad publicity blew over and she gets book deals, interviews with major media companies and then, of course, advertising deals. Maybe they thought ahead and mark my words, with the public so naive and fickle, all of it will sell.

Common sense? What’s that? Besides, with all the book deals, media interviews and advertising campaigns for diaper companies, it’s likely to become a cash machine. Ethics? Well, we all need to make a living. And if worse comes to worse, welfare will take care of it all.

My mother also had an obession with babies. After 8 kids (10 pregnancies) she finally had her tubes tied. My 2 oldest siblings are 22 mos apart and the last 2 only 14 mos apart. She had the older ones to help with the younger ones. When the babies were no longer babies (6 mos old) she lost patience and was abusive. She never should of been allowed to have as many as she did. She never had fertility treatments. Family members asked her face to face why she kept getting pregnate when she didn’t have the means, finacially, mentally or emotionally to support us. I feel sorry for these kids. I know what it’s like to have a mother that never had time for her older kids, just expectations to help with kids when we were kids. My childhood consisted of constanly watching my younger siblings, never getting to play with friends or be a kid myself Always being told ‘let the babies have…’whatever I had in my hand was frustrating. I can inagine what the older kids will sacrifice, even if it’s just a toy, eventually made me the strong, independant woman I am today. I was married before I had my 2 sons. I never forced my older son to babysit his brother, drag him along even if going across the street. I feel sorry for the older kids. They’ll never know what it’s like to ever be kids themselves

I believe that the fertility doctor/clinic she used is in Mexico. That would make it very hard for the United States to do anything about what happened, for how are our medical governing bodies going to have any legal influence across the border?

This Suleman woman is a danger to herself and others. That’s enough to get her committed for psychiatric care, but only if the words “immediate danger” are utilized. Right now, she and the babies are in a “safety zone.” It’s not going to get interesting untill she leaves the hospital, and then the babies leave. Then watch all hell break loose. Never seen a story anger so many people so consistently. For that reason alone, I find some encouragement that at some point, someone is going to do the right thing and blow this woman’s straw house down and “rescue” those 14 children. We just need to be patient and hope that in the meantime, the fourteen kids don’t suffer.

Come on everyone! This is so simple… She watched the stupid show on TLC that shows the Gosslings. Here this family went against medical advise and had 6 kids. Even knowing the dangers. They never passed up a free offer EVER! Her tummy-tuck… His hair replacement surgery… The trip to ski… The trip to Hawaii… The kids Christmas gifts… The kids birthday presents… The list goes on! Now they just bought a mult-million dollar home with “acreage”. And of course, the father has now quit his job. Why work when TV will pay for everything. This poor woman watches all this and sees the chance to out do them and take their place on TV. She couldn’t be any worse. IMPOSSIBLE!

Want to do something… Call TLC and tell them that you are calling your cable TV supplier and demand that their channel be omitted. That will end it all!

Who paid for the Vitro Fertilization in the first place? Is it expensive to have Vitro Fertilization done?

Fox News has taught me to speak out! I am one of eleven children. You give me the feeling that if she would have aborted not only the eight she gave birth to, but aborted five of the six she already had. She would have been respected and certainly would not have made your news. How ethical is that?

If the lady is on public assistance why don’t the appropriate governmental agencies sue the clinic and the doctor for all costs of the procedure and medical and hospitalization. They should also go for child support until the children are grown.

I saw a PR person interviewed that has been hired by the octuplets’ mother yesterday. She said the mother is single, but she and her family are quite well off. She is a “health care professional” and lives independently. At this time, she is still in the hospital recuperating, so the grandparents have her other 6 children at their house and are taking care of them until she is able to come home. Maybe she is an MD and she, herself, performed some kind of fertility intervention… or another co-worker medical professional did so.

I am wondering about all this and the publicity surrounding it. Maybe if the press would quit covering it the people in DSS and the MEdical Society can do a thorough investigation. One media source indicated that she worked at a fertility clinic. If this is true, did a doctor even do the implant? Personally, I think she should be assessed by a psychiatrist if what they say her mother said is true. But honestly, I believe that a thorough investigation needs to be conducted by DSS and the state. Thanks

This is one of the most outrageous and unethical cases I have ever encountered! I am a Registered Nurse (30 years) and a Biology Professor (Reproductive Biology, by the way) and more importantly, a taxpayer. What medical professional assisted this woman with this pregnancy? They should be banned from practicing; STAT.

There are so many levels of insanity here, I don’t know where to begin. We can begin by looking at the law. There needs to be accountability built in for actions that are irresponsible and place innocent children in danger. We need to get the media in check too. Its a runaway train.

I am so disappointed in what we have become as a society.

Well, I don’t think mom will be able to escape the scrutiny of child care agencies now that she’s splashed her compulsive obsession all over the world. Did she really believe having 8 children at one shot (along with 6 already waiting at “home”) would escape the media glare? All she’s done is opened the world’s eyes to a mental disorder that has probably been rarely seen or heard of until now. And most of us are throughly appalled that children could be mass-produced for such selfish and unstable gains. She’s retained a public relations firm (vultures-bet they must’ve camped out at the hospital waiting for the opportunity to slip her a business card!) to handle the media glut, and now the public is getting daily doses of nausea from her mouthpieces. As if we care–the majority of decent, SANE folks are struggling to live day to day, and make ends meet. To be subjected to constant “updates” on mom’s education, her plans for a reality TV show on child care (yeah, right! Laughable!), who’s clamoring to interview her, is back firing-in a big way. This woman is a pariah, but she’s so wrapped up in her own odd little world of unreality, she’s not aware of the huge and growing animosity against her by the public.

While I am not a huge fan of regulation, when the taxpayer’s wallet is being tapped to pay for the costs of raising children created by fertility treatments, I feel that regulation is in order. If this is the case, then this situation needs to be investigated. It sounds like an IVF case. If it was, the doctor and his care needs to be reviewed. Hopefully the medical board is online with this.

Unless this situation is appropriately handled…we’ll be paying for idiots trying to break this record and gain notariety (at taxpayer expense.) The physician responsible for this medical miracle should have his earnings garnished for the cost of carrying, delivering and supporting these children until they’re 18 years old. Without such appropriate measures, we can only expect more of the same. (are we sure he didn’t use his sperm, anyway?)

I have read a lot of the comments that have been posted. I agree with much of what is being said, the one thing that really confuses me is, “What is tying her tubes going to do?”, she can still conceive with her tubes tied. All of these babies were implanted. Her eggs are frozen somewhere, so that they just need to be placed in her uterus, take out the uterus and game over no more babies. I also want to know why someone hasn’t contacted child services over this woman. If she doesn’t have a job and is living with her parents, someone from the state of California should be stepping in for all of these children, not just the babies.

Also, the doctor that implanted these babies should have his license revoked and pay the state back for all the monies that this hospital has had to spend, on keeping these babies alive. The mother on the other hand should be paying for all of her medical expenses from day one.

Enough of a free ride for all…I work hard for my money and am tired of seeing it being wasted.

She sounds like one of these people that “hoards” large numbers of cats or dogs in there house, and keeps taking in more animals in spite of horrendous conditions. I keep reading about medical ethics and how the doctors should have put their collective foot down from the beginning and never let this happen. I agree with these statements 100%, but this isn’t an issue of just medical ethics, it is an issue of ethics in general and morals. I am 23 years old and ever since I started keeping up with current events and the stories that are making the headlines, I am shocked at the new levels people of this day and age will go to gain attention, money (especially money), and fame. The gutter of society is getting more cluttered every year and who is paying to clean out the gutter? I am! Me and the people of this country who earn their living by working. What a concept, earning money. No, today everyone expects a handout. Like the government owes them something. Seems like people today are only in for what will benefit them. Even when it comes to having kids. They don’t care about the responsibility that comes with molding a young life into a upstanding citizen, they care about what kind of money they will get out of it. Food stamps and welfare is what they are after. Programs designed for people who have a legitimate problem. Of course today, a “legitimate” problem is too easy to come by. People say that they don’t want regulation in government, and I agree. There comes a time however, that we who are paying for all of this have to open our eyes and look at what is happening around us. We are paying for an up and coming American society that is lazy. We as a country will never last. No one will be willing to do anything for themselves and we will get overrun. A once great nation will fall. I know I commented little on the subject of this blog, but this is just an example of something that is eating away at our nation. This lady just confirms my opinion of the ways of the world today.

This is very suspicious considering that during the IVF psychological informed consent screening, a big part of that signed consent is the emotional and financial support present at home is taken into serious consideration to deem a patient a viable candidate.

Maybe David Solomon the man on the first 4 birth certificates and the absent ex Marcos Gutierrez were part of the ploy to dupe the clinic and pass the screening by posing as a father at home?

Things that really make you go home considering the men in her life are on paper only. Yet, are NOT physically or financially present in the children’s lives.

If she’s obsessed with having children, we just never know what she stooped to in order to get that fix. Possible that she may have lied on the application and during the screening process.

To “it’s God’s will” Joan – You and others who think the way you do are the reason a single, unemployed person would even think of having so many children. No offense intended but if she knew that no softhearted people would end up taking care of her “little miracles” she wouldn’t be having “litters” that she can’t possibly support on her own.

Does anyone really believe that the Dugger family (18 children and counting?) is self-supporting? One father cannot possibly be making enough money to pay for 20 people, unless he’s a bank robber on the side. Mrs. Dugger’s profession apparently is being pregnant. On their show she was still in recovery after having #17, I think it was, and she was saying she couldn’t wait to have another one. I’m amazed her insides haven’t fallen out by now.

I find this just appalling, she is not going to be able to care for 14 children by her self, so we as tax payers are going to be paying yet for another irresponsible persons stupidity. Where does she think this money comes from, has she not heard California is broke, and that the whole country is in extremely bad shape. I don’t even know of two parents with this many children, let alone that can support 8 newborns that will need the medical attention this litter will need plus another 6. She already is used of living on a government disability so now she just sees this as a way to keep the hand outs coming. This is just another person not taking responsibility for her actions and expecting others to pick up the slack for her poor judgement. If she likes kids so much get A JOB AT A DAYCARE CENTER, know what it is like to have to get up everyday to go to work because if you don’t you don’t get paid, taxpayers shouldn’t have to be responsible for the mess she got herself into.

It’s out now that this woman is a Workers’ Comp cheat too! She claimed she had a ‘Bad Back’ while having the other 6 kids. That’s six years of tax payer’s money – More than $165,000!!! She’s is so much pain she can’t work but she can have kid after kid. Seems backwards to me? As for this family being ‘Well-Off’ – They don’t have a dime! They filed for bankruptcy. Now she wants to bankrupt the rest of us. So watch NBC when they interview her. She’s learned how to ‘work’ the system. She hasn’t worked in over 10 years … And she has cost us, the taxpayers, millions. In the end… It will $1,000,000,000,000 and growing. Call NBC and complain!

She does not deserve one nickel of taxpayer dollars to support her children. I am a hard working single mom, and I do not believe STUPIDITY should be compensated for, and having 14 children with no source of income and no husband definitely qualifies as stupidity. As far as raking in the big bucks from public media appearances, who really wants to hear how she’s going to raise all those kids by herself? Putting these unfortunate children up for adoption presents a problem. Who should want to have children with the mother’s genetic makeup?

Yet another example of how our society has deteriorated. This horrible, selfish woman gave absolutely no thought to the health and welfare of the children she was bringing into this world or the people who would ultimately be providing for them (namely the taxpayers). People who go to fertility clinics should be made to fill out some kind of form stating that they at least have the means to raise the children themselves. I mean, look at the hoops (and expense) folks have to go through to adopt a child. They have to prove that they will be good responsible parents.

In every other case, the responsibility of the children falls on those responsible for the children, the mother and father. In this case, not only should the friend who donated his sperm be facing child support, but I believe the doctor that agreed to this procedure has a certain amount of responsibity. Tax payer money shouldn’t be given to this woman — the biological father and the doctor should be paying child support, just like every other father out there.

Why is this woman demonized for having children? It’s her body and she should get to do with it as she pleases. At least that is what the abortion crowd says. Doesn’t it also apply if she wants to have a bunch of kids?

Why is everyone complaining? The people in CA elect the same senator’s, state, city officials year in and year out. Our borders have been wide open for the last fifty years. We have done little since 911.

I don’t agree with either side. 1st, the info is reportedly not correct in this article. There were 6 embryo’s implanted (not 8); 2 split into twins. 2nd, who is stating she can’t provide for her 6 children? Until now, there has been no complaint to CPS from schools or neighbors & the children, until now, have been seen as well cared for.

Also, she is obviously a responsible woman, studying toward her masters degree. At a time when an alarming almost half of U.S. public school students drop out and even less get an AA, I’m impressed with any single mother who has her BA and is studying toward her Masters.

She has never been on welfare and her injury was legitimate. A desk was thrown at her while she was trying to protect others, by mental patients in a facility that obviously did not have adequate security.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with someone having 14 children. I have 6 (we had 2, adopted 2, then had 2 more) & I love large families. I understand her because I was raised in a 2 child household so I wanted a large family also (so did my brother).

I think she’s right when she said that most people are opposing her doing this as a single mom. I have this concern myself. I think kids benefit from both mommy and daddy so this is my only concern. It’s not an outrage or a horror. Just a concern.

Your comments stink of paternalism. “Do no harm” means just that: do no harm to your patients. No doctor harmed her, she WANTED a large family. True, it was a risk; an excessive risk by your analysis. Who are you to decide whether the risk outweighs the reward?
We place ourselves in risky scenarios every day, and while you might argue the risk of a fatal crash is worth bearing, someone else would see the exposure to potential death as outweighing the convenience. This is no different. So long as she was well informed of the potential complications, it was her decision to make. I watched the interview she did this morning on the Today show. She said the reason she knows she’ll do well with these kids is that she “will drop anything to be with them and hold them.” What will she have to drop? She doesn’t do anything! She said once she finishes her schooling to be a counselor she’ll be able to afford these kids. I’d hate to have her as my counselor! What’s she going to charge her patients to be able to afford all these poor children? $2,000 an hour? PLEASE!! Whoever did the IVF for this woman needs to be locked up and her children need to be taken away from her. She said she suffered from major depression until she realized she wanted to have children. Did this doctor not evaluate this depression before he/she did the IVF for her the other times with the 6 other kids? PATHETIC!! Somebody needs to be held accountable and from what I can tell from these stories about this woman is that she isn’t going to be. Good luck to her parents that allow her to live at their home with her 14 kids. Good luck to the 17 of them in that teenie 1500 square foot house with 3 bedrooms.

Instead of a degree in counseling —maybe she should get some. The fertility Dr. should be investigated. Who knows, probably the Dr is writing a book and is using her as and experiment. Who knows he may go for 10 or 12 next time.

I feel angry that she did this to herself, the kids, and the taxpayers who will pick up the tab for sure. But I also know the anguish of wanting a child and not being able to have one it can be crushing. My husband and I are good candidates but the costs of the infertility treatments are so out of range and not covered by medical insurance that we will probably never have a child. We have a good home and good jobs we could raise a child but having to mortgage our house to get the child prevents it. Maybe if all states were required to regulate and cover these procedures the people who need it can get and those that are not good candidates weeded out.

This sounds like a form of child abuse. This is just wrong, having babies for income and fame? Who is going to cuddle each one, feed them….babies eat every 2-3 hrs. Change diapers, rock them to sleep? This is a crime, and the other six kids…God help these kids and babies. I truly hope this will lead to laws prohibiting this. China has the 1 child rule, because they have so many people living there-Spatial issues, the economy, civility, sanitary concerns. Someone on welfare who has 6 kids (or even 3) should not only be prohibited from fertility treatments, but sterilized! And Yes sterilize all the non paying “Babies Daddies” too! After kid #3, if you continue on welfare-guess what-STERILIZATION. I also do not believe even if she was rich, it still would fall under child abuse for her and the moron so called doctor. It’s babies for money- to stay at home and get money from the Tax payers. I want to help the poor, but are we not just encouraging the freeloading people who abuse the system? I have been through 3 cycles and know its not cheap.
She was unemployed so I know she does not have insurance
coverage, so who paid for it? Who paid for any of her cycles?

The Doctors should be held accountable, if it was 6 embryos or 8 that

Thanks Fox News for being there. As a working, home owning, tax paying citizen of California, to tell you I am angry does not come close. Our teen pregnancy rate is through the roof with little girls wanting to be mommies that when the baby gets too much work, grandma picks up the slack. Even in my own business I have paid employees who have the option of benefits, declines and use the system because it takes care of everything. One is on number 3 and dad/boyfriend the sperm donor is twice the age and on disability! Then we have the illegal immigrants coming here having babies so they can stay and raise their American citizen child. On the system. Oh wait, then there are the dads with two families one here and one in Mexico, the one here, on the system. California broke. You bet. Now add to the mix a whack job that is TV bound to make money from the system. If she gets one dime off of this it should be paid back to California for putting up with two ridiculous pregnancies. The women is mentally ill! These babies could be affected by preterm birth. One of her children already has Autism. I just really feel sorry for these children. They didn’t ask to be here. Well this is neither defending the woman or the doctor BUT, I am also a mother who did fertility treatments and conceived through invetro. I had 4 eggs transferred back to me. Cause thats all i produced. If i had more eggs my doctor would have transferred more. But I only conceived 1 baby.
Yes it is very irresponsible of the mother though to have more babies when she clear will have difficulty caring for all of them.

Sterilization will help cut down on child abuse cases such as this. No one can care for 8 infants at the same time. I found it hard to breast feed one and wake up several times a night (NEWBORNS EAT EVERY 2-4 HOURS). Never mind the emotional and nurturing needs, to be held and cuddled.

This story is sick. In China they limit couples to one child, do to over crowding, sanitation and economic needs as well as other. Sterilization does not kill any growing embryo- it prevents the dead beat dads and welfare “kids for money, fame and leaching off society). Our Economy is hitting the toilet and this is one way to turn it around. Have kids to love them. I want to help the poor, but are we not enabling a growing culture of them if they keep procreating like rabbits?

After the third kid on welfare, sterilize them. Non paying deadbeat dads-sterilize them. It’s not just about the welfare either. I would be just as appalled if a rich person did this. They too should have limits to fertilization. It is unethical to continue down this no limits road. 80 year olds should not be allowed to be medically induced to have kids either. This is child abuse.

You have to pass a test to drive. Who in their right mind thinks its O.K. to have as many kids, that you can not take care of or support, as you want? Supporting this no holds bar mentality is unethical.

I also think it’s amazing that she was ‘disabled’ for several years but has no problem popping more than a dozen babies out of her body.

I am calling TLC and letting them know if they pay her one cent I will make it my personal mission to have everyone in my state boycott their station and all of the companies that buy ad space on her show.

Why is it important to take the life of the potential newborn(s) into consideration in this instance but not in the instance of an abortion?

Did anyone else read somewhere where she stated she was paid to do this ? I am pretty sure when the story first broke she had made a early statement to a reporter revealing this so besides going after the doctor they should go after who ever paid her to do this and let him know he is pn the hook for all the bills that come with it

you people are really self-righteous. taxes are taxes, you can’t say where your dollars go after deductions. “hard working tax dollars,” “my hard earned money,” etc., is not helping this world become any better. second, have some compassion for this woman. she didn’t make the wisest choice but she’s not evil, either. she is already finding out that the world doesn’t admire her, and the stress and difficulty she will inevitably endure is enough hard-lessons-learned for more than a lifetime. may her children be safe and healthy and happy, THEY are the most important ones here, not you and your tax money.

According to news reports and her publicist, this woman wanted her 14 kids as a hedge against the loneliness that she felt as an only child. Little does she know that children raised within a huge family often feel much more unloved and lonely than even an only child. Loneliness is a poor excuse. And actually her own psych history points to exactly what this narcissistic act is really all about. No one who bears this children has an inkling of what true love is…..this woman has a Madonna complex in my opinion.

Our government needs to regulate this practice (two children MAX), license the facilities that due IVF and yank their license in such cases. There is no ethical argument that justifies this woman’s selfish and careless behavior, IMO. And now we all will get to foot the bill and the children get to suffer for her wanton me first attitude. As far as her financial arrangements, reports of receiving money for a supposed back injury while taking on such a risky procedure, she should NOT be rewarded financially. In fact, I think all of her children from her current spawning should be removed from her custody immediately and put up for adoption as soon as they are released from care. This mother is, IMO, unfit to be responsible for so many. She has very poor judgement and regard for her own health as well as ALL of her children. She needs psychiatric help in my view.

I understand her not wanting to have the embryos destroyed or used for scientific research. There is, however, a well-known program advertised in every fertility doctor’s office where you can donate your embryos to be used by other women who are not fortunate enough to produce healthy eggs that will result in viable embryos. I believe its called snow angels. That would have been a far more ethical and responsible choice. So what if these are “your babies” as she claims. The mother of potential babies with a house full of young kids needed to put the well being of her kids and potential babies first and do the right thing.

I have no real opinion, but the truth is, all this woman did was do something that was legal, that society put into place and now people are griping about it! She is single, has no job, lives with her Mother: Who paid for the embryos to be implanted? This is an expensive procedure.

“The revelation about one center treating her makes the treatment even harder to understand,” said Arthur Caplan, bioethics chairman at the University of Pennsylvania. “They went ahead when she had six kids, knowing that she was a single mom … and put embryos into her anyway.”

As the details come out, the story gets worse….did you know she has been receiving disability benefits for the past 6 years because of a work related injury that sank her into a deep depression and left her in near-constant pain?!! If she is in too much pain to work, how on earth does she expect to raise 14 children? And why would the doctors impregnate her repeatedly over the past 6 years knowing she was disabled and in pain? Perhaps the Worker’s Comp board needs to look into this. Maybe she needs to pay back the $165,000 in disability payments she has received because if she is well enough to carry all those pregnancies and care for all those kids, she certainly was well enough to hold down a job.

Having viewed documentaries showing children of Muslim extremists being taught from early childhood to hate the infidel, and to dedicate their little lives to see us destroyed, I have this theory. Nadya Suleman, (whose name could actually have Arabic origins and who, as it has been comfirmed has mental health issues) could very well have been funded to have those 8 embryo implanted by an extremeist Muslim contingent, whose resources are immeasurable at this point, from outside of the United States, for the sake of infiltration using those 8 babies. I cannot imagine a woman with 6 existing children being able to slip past US Human Services red tape to have infertility studies done for any reason; not with states struggling to provide the basic needs of the American people. What Ms. Suleman did was totally legal if not ethical. The doctor is certainly a different story. I just think it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

She implanted 6 embryos because that’s how many were there so she figured why not (2 split into twins). It is unethical and extremely dangerous to mother and the CHILDREN to implant so many. Normally they stop at 2-3 because of the lifelong risk of multiple pregnancies.

The parents bought their unemployed adult daughter and the first six children a home. The mother walked away from it; it ended up in foreclosure. Her plans this whole time have been to wait for the media to figure out who she was so it would become a big bru-ha-ha and let the offers roll in. Then she hoped to offer them a show as an expert in raising children–though the eldest is still a tiny child to boot, there is no spouse in the home, she has no idea where money will come from for their food on a daily basis.

What if the media got it together and stopped playing her game and completely ignored her? No more income she is demanding. Her dreams would shatter. What she really needs is some serious mental help–and someone to make sure those innocent children are not suffering for the choices their mother made.

The Grandmother’s recent remarks are very revealing….another narcissistic personality gone amuck involving children. The medical personnel should be held entirely accountable for their lack of care and violation of ethical standards. IMO, they ALL performed malpractice by being instrumental in this woman’s implantation, OB/GYN care, delivery and discharge. Every single professional who had anything to do with this case had an OBLIGATION to report this situation, living conditions and choices/outcomes to California Child Protection Authorities. And instead of ’supporting’ nonsense, those same officials should take this court before a judge with a good track record for doing what is best for the children involved, not what is going to feed an unfettered ego.

I would agree that the physician in charge is guilty of moral failure to uphold the Hippocratic Oath. However, there is moral failure on the part of the mother who has the timerity to bring into this world 14 children without consideration for a balanced upbringing with a fully involved parent. This woman collected over $150,000 in disability…if she’s so badly injured that she can’t work and can collect that much money, should she be birthing 8 children? I mean, the supposed injury she received was to her back…carrying 8 fetuses can’t be good for someone with a back injured so badly she can’t work. The Doctor who did this In Vitro should be revealed and should have to face the music on his or her bad practices.

Ya know? Even GOD stopped at two! Every person = 10,000 lbs. of garbage, 20,000 gal. of gas & 10,000 gal. of water. Let’s multiply that up and this is what ONE person has caused the earth to give up due to a selfish, unconscionable decision. 140,000 pounds of garbage (enouh to fully fill 4 semis); 280,000 gallons of gas. hmmm, lessee…that, if we were conservative, could be 9,333 miles of driving for you & me, or, power those garbage trucks at 7 mpg 40,000 miles!

There are several problems with this woman.

First of all, she has an obvious mental defect that is causing her to “horde” babies. Yes, this woman is no different than those that horde cats or dogs. There is a psychological condition compelling her to do such an inhumane thing to these children.

Second, this woman is living on the dime of the tax payer. Why haven’t I seen FOXNews or anyone else ask where she got the money for this procedure? Not only the money for the first procedure but also the money for the second one? How about someone asking her where she got the money for the lip injections she obviously had just before her television interview?

I believe the grandmother when she says the woman was doctor shopping to have this procedure done. I also believe the living conditions are very poor in the 3 bedroom house where the other 6 children live. I also do not think we can in good conscience remove the children from the mother unless it is shown she is abusing them or neglecting them. Hopefully the grandparents will be able to help out. I can only pray these children are able to grow up knowing what love is.

The same laws should apply to this disgusting woman that apply to people who can’t pay their car payments or mortage payments – if you can’t pay for them take the babies away from her! Give them to families (i.e. mother and father) who will provide for them. Not the US taxpayers. She is so selfish and irresponsible it makes me sick.

This story has upset all ages from 80 year old grandmothers to teenage college students. The care for the 8 will cost 3 millian dollors just in the prenatal nursery. The medicaid program will be hers to uses as freely without pride or any responsibliity from her. The hospital has a direct line to these health care programs becasue they would not want to loss a dime. The doctors that helped her commit the crime will get paid.

This woman is a creation of the american public whether we want to admit it or not. Everyone on this site who is angry about her having multiples and then expecting money is a bit of a hypocrite. Why? Jon & Kate Plus 8, the Duggar clan, and the other shows on TLC & Discovery Health showcase these families constantly and it is obvious that they profit from this exposure. Theses shows wouldn’t continue unless they had a fan base. The fact is that they wouldn’t have a TV show if their family was of a normal size. Is it any wonder then, that when given the opportunity to gain a little of that fame & fortune that someone out there tries to top the aforementioned shows? I have one son, and was tired 8 years ago with people who seemed to seek out high multiples in order to get a new van, house, and free diapers.

As for all the other stuff about her being a single mother, having no money, etc. I think that is a lot of speculation because every news outlet has admitted that they don’t have the “facts”. Obviously she had to have some money because no doctor is going to do the procedures unless he is payed. As for being a single mother, this too is speculative. Lack of marriage doesn’t necessarily mean no partner. Also no one knows if her parents agreed early on to help her with all these kids.

My husband and I have been married for 3 years and are unable to have children and cannot adopt due to the fact we “dont make enough money to support a child properly” yet she can have 14 being a single (non working-disabled-workmans comp mooching) mom. If we could adopt, one of us would get another part time job to support the child and we could give the child alot of love and attention. Where is justice?

I think the psychological makeup of this mom is like that of a cat hoarder. She may have a great deal of love for children but is not capable of taking care of all of them herself.

In view of the fact that this is this woman’s second litter, find good homes for this second bunch (people who can love, care for and educate), and have the mother spayed.

I truly understand the reason for invitro fertilization. I have a niece and a cousin who underwent such procedures (which are extremely expensive) in order to have any children. After more then one failed procedure for both, they were each able to have two children at two separate times. They are thrilled to have two children and are fine with only having two healthy children. It is beyond my comprehension, why anyone, never mind a single mother with six healthy children, would even consider this procedure again. The most important question, which to my understanding, has not been answered, is…WHO PAID FOR THESE PROCEDURES??? Obviously, one has to question the ethics of a doctor who would perform this procedure on a woman who already has 6 children, and then, who would implant all 8 eggs!!??
Even if the woman was wealthy, and could afford to properly take care of the 6 children she already has, why perform this procedure on a woman with 6 children???? It seems apparent that this woman is not only, not wealthy, but very much the opposite. So again, I have to wonder, who paid for this procedure and the others she had to have the other 6 children.
What kind of quality of life are these fourteen children going to have? No one single mother can take care of 14 small children. She would need massive help to feed, bathe, and nuture the 8 infants, never mind the other 6 children!!

Leave the poor woman alone, i say. She already has enough to deal with having 14 kids. she does not need the whole country judging what she did. we don’t have any idea if she will give the children up after they get out of the hospital or not. we need to remember that she was only after one more child and not 8 more. this was just something that happened unexpectedly, and caused an uproar. she is the mother, she has to live with the consequences of her actions, we however, are only bystanders to what the media feeds us about this case. we have no right to judge someone about something that we don’t fully know. we all make lousy decisions. so why make her decisions seem like total failures when we have all made decisions that were bad?

The state needs to file a lawsuit on behalf of the taxpayers against the doctors involved in this ethical and moral crime. Whether through private insurance or public assistance, others will be paying for this for decades to come, so let the doctors pay for this for the next few decades instead. Either that or the doctors involved should lose their ability to practice medicine. Perhaps the clinic involved should should be renamed ” the Dr. Mengele clinic by and for the criminally insane”. I wondered if she is here legally. Does she have a green card? Is she a legal citizen? The audicity of her making any demands! She has as much rights as you and I have to take care of our children. The problem here really isn’t really so much with the woman as with the process of in vitro fertilization. This is a process that creates left over embryoes which are then generally abandoned by the parents. In her particular situation, if I’ve read this correctly, these last 8 children were embryoes left behind from her other fertility treatments–she didn’t want to abandon them, which would be the equivalent of murder, because there is no hope for their survival. They would eventually die or be destroyed, perhaps even used as spare parts in the corrupt practice of embryonic research–they can’t be kept in the freezer forever. The only real solution is to end the practice of in vitro fertilization–it’s pointless to condemn those who take advantage of it. As for people who can’t conceive, there are so many unwanted and/or starving children out there, so many needs, and yes, these children, too, are so capable of loving and being loved.

No job! No husband! Who is suppose to pay for all these kids. Now she wants a bigger house. Who paid for the invetro? Who is going to send her to school and watch all these kids. Grandmother needs to stick to her word. Run, Run, Run, and don’t look back!

As a Mother of one child, conceived with fertility treatments, my first thought was what Doctor in his right mind would have done this? The woman is obviously a mental case. The Doctor should lose his medical license for this! My guess is that the Dr. wanted fame as much as the Mother. These procedures are VERY expensive. WHo paid for it??? The Doctor probably footed the bill hoping his new found fame would pay him back.

Those poor kids will be forever branded. My heart goes out to them.

I live in Marlboro, NJ and a few years ago we had the wife of one of our police officers give birth to 6 or 8 babies after already having 4 children (2 sets of twins). She was also using a fertility doctor.

Our township built a huge extension onto their home for the additional children at a cost of around $300,000. In addition, many corporations supplied them with diapers, formula, etc.

I though it was shameful that our town paid for this extension, which comes out of our real estate taxes, meanwhile if I wanted to get an extension put on my home, I would have to hire an attorney just to get through the red tape of aquiring the needed permits.

This is in response to Dawn, who mentioned that she probably did the for her boyfriend. I don’t know how you have kept up with the story, but according to the Nadya’s own mother during a videotaped interview: Nadya’s boyfriend was the biological father of all 14 children, but that she refused to marry him. “He was in love with her and wanted to marry her,” she said. “But Nadya wanted to have children on her own.” Not he does sound like an honorable man wanting to do the right thing for his “family”. But to say that she did it so she could have a child for her present boyfriend is not wise on two levels: 1) Having been a man who has dated women with children, if a man wants the woman, he has to accept the children as well, with the knowledge that depending uppon the amount of children already present, the wpman may not want to have more. 2) If a woman already has 6 children by a man who is not her husband, why should she want to or agree to have more by a man to whom she is not married? Her psyche needs to be evaluated. I am from a large family (16 children by the same woman and man), and I wanted a large family myself when I was younger (and still do now. I have two). However, I knew that I would not have even one by any woman unless I was married. INcidentally, I was approached a few times by different women wanting to have children using my sperm. Call me odl-fashioned, but I could not do it: family is a man, a woman, and children (if any) being together until death.

This woman is responsible, not the Doctor. This woman has some serious issues. Watching her on the interview there is something about her that is not right. The father of these babies should have rights to these babies also. This woman has no respect for her parent who are bending over backwards and going beyond the call of duty to help her out.
I hope someone steps in and helps the father of the babies and the grandparents out…and this woman needs some therapy…..serious therapy.

I more then agree that this woman is aware of all of the publicity and financial benefit that other large families are getting these day’s i.e “John and Kate + 8″ and “Duggar clan” …… I truly believe this woman calculated and planned this event in order to benefit from the financial support and other various freebies, book deals, TV series etc. she will be offered. She wasn’t and wouldn’t get any attention just by being a single mother of 6 kids under the age of 8, so she had to blow it out of the waters with this lastest “act”. I also heard that her boyfriend is the donor for ALL 14 children and that she has turned him down on his numerious proposals for marriage … maybe because the story wouldn’t be as “interesting” to the media if she was married???? … Who knows, however I do believe that she feels her situation is far more intriguing then the other large families, that have spouses. Perhaps in her crazy mind she feels like the bigger the train wreck the larger the compensation…. sadly enough, there are way too many people out there that will watch and indulge in this train wreak as it unfolds …..

I am the youngest of 6. I have read all your responses and have come to these statements.
1) IVF is expensive…between 8-15K per try. Where did she come up with the money to do this. Any yes, it was IVF…they were her remaining embryo’s and not an IUI
2)I read a person’s comment that people should be evaluated before they are able to do IVF. Were your parents evaluated before they got knocked up with you? Seriously, this selfish woman is not the norm. You really think that evaluating people before they get pregnate is wise, how is that fair? There are many people who have no other choice of having their own biological child and must go this route. Do you think people want to do this? There has to be an infertility problem to even get seen at en RE.
3) Why cant we find out if she worked at a clinic? Has she filed taxes with an employer?
4) Taking children away from their parent, even as screwed up as this lady is, is not going to solve anything. In fact, it could make it worse. Hell, a lot of foster parents take kids in for the money…who is the lesser of the two evils there.
I am trying to not compleley bash this woman. Although I do see how Jon & Kate plus 8 glorifies IVF, and this lady saw the “fun” they have as a family with handouts from everyone. It makes IVF a topic people are now learning about which is good. But I think the media only uses the bad stuff which makes a person who knows nothing about IVF a critic of it. Walk a mile in my shoes.

Don’t you folks get it. This woman is sick. The only reason Ms. Suleman had those eight babies was for M-O-N-E-Y!!! and maybe an episode on Oprah. She had no means of supporting the 6 kids she already had and probably figured by doing something so outlandish people would feel sorry for her and she could make millions. I bet she even promised the fertility doctor a cut of her profits. The only ones I feel sorry for are the children and the babies. They’re screwed right off the bat. Any kind of donations should be for psychiatric help only. Also, in many states it is illegal for a licensed in-home day-care provider to be caring for that many kids and infants in one house. Maybe there’s a good reason for that law – something like child safety.

I want to qualify what I am about to say with the fact that I know many large families who are healthy, loved, and well-provided for. While I don’t have friends with 14 children, I do have several friends with 10 and 12 children – but the key is that those kids range in age from 22 down to infant – and that it takes mom and dad PLUS all the kids working together to make their homes so happy, so productive, and so loving.

I think the issues are not about the number, and I think the issues this raises are deeper than “taxpayer” money. So far, I haven’t seen that she is actually on welfare – although everyone is repeating that like a mantra. I haven’t read or heard a factual statement that taxpayers are (as of now) picking up a dime. The issue really revolves around the fitness of a single individual to raise a family. (I am not talking about those who find themselves single through circumstance, I am talking about people setting out on this task purposefully single.) At heart, I think most people who have actually raised several children know that it really does take a dad and mom being honestly involved in their children’s lives to wind up with healthy, productive adults. I “get” that she didn’t necessarily think she was going to get 8 kids this time – maybe she really did only think she would have one or two – but the issue involves more than the 8, it also – sadly – involves the six at home.

In one of the pictures her 6 yr old son has a pacifier in his mouth. If that doesn’t speak volumes about her parenting ablilty I don’t know what does.

Ok,there is something seriously wrong with this Woman. My initial reaction to this story was that she obviously wants attention & MONEY. She doesn’t care about the welfare of the children regardless of her statements. No sane person would do this to their own children. The previous questions about how this idiot was able to afford this many IVF proceedures is a valid one. My wife and I have been through seven IVF cycles, IT IS NOT CHEAP…even with insurance (which only covers a small portion due the “experimental” classification). I have pity for the children involved; I have a deeply rooted feeling of revulsion regarding the mother(sic). May God bless and watch over these children.

The problem here is not so much with the woman as with the process of in vitro fertilization. If i’ve read this story correctly, these last 8 children were embryoes left over from in vitro fertilization used to conceive her other 6 children. Why are we using a process that creates unwanted or spare embryoes in the first place. To abandon the embryoes is the equivalent of murder–they cannot exist forever in the freezer–they will either die, be destroyed, or possibly be used in the corrupt practice of embryonic stem cell research. It is pointless to condemn a woman who takes advantage of a morally corrupt procedure that is made available. We need to end the use of in vitro fertilization.

As for people who can’t conceive, there are unwanted and starving children out there, children most capable of loving and being loved. Infertile couples have an opportunity to contribute much to society by using their time and money to help these.

This woman needs psychiatric help. Further, the children all 14, should be taken away and placed in good foster homes, no more than three where the children could interact with each other on a regular basis. The Grandparents will not be able to handle the situation. At this time of their lives, they need care themselves.

We give so much money to other countries that parents can’t care for their babies, why do they have them and why do we have to support them? Her deed is done, we will pay and everyone will watch her show, I am upset for her children that they will have to live in public view and they will be ridiculed by many mean people, but get over it, I would rather have my tax money go to her kids than another country. Maybe Angelina Jolie should help her instead of sending (i believe) 60-70% of her payroll to another country!!!

The “absentee”-father-of-fourteen should be required to support his children. Just what did he imagine was going to be the result of his generous donation?

I imagine the State of California and taxpayers are looking foward to paying for the children and the huge hospital bills. I only hope that California Childrens Services intervene for the sake of the children.

I’m all for procreation that’s why the Lord gave us that power. Hwoever, I’m curious to know know if the young woman is married with a HUSBAND willing to love and care for these children. We have enough dysfunctional mother’s with dysfuntinal children in the world.

This story angers me so badly! All i wanted out of life was a good husband and a large family. I do have a good husband but we only have one child and that is all we probably will ever have. Due to the economy and the way things are we can barley afford the one we have. This woman is so selfish expecting people like us to have to pick up the tab for the children she wants so badly. I want more children too, but i dont expect others to pay for them that is my job. She is being so selfish and irrational. These children should be taken away from her how could she possibley take care of them without negleting them? Why is it to adopt, you have to meet certain standards like married, x amount of money, job security, but here is this woman with nothing and a doctor just allows this to happen.

Here is my thought – she probably saw a window of opportunity to gain public’s attention by having all these beautiful children. The fact that she is living with her mother, no home, no husband, and no income – pushed her to think of another way to get out of that situation. Have 8 more children, then look for a “reality show” like the Duggers ect..to pay the bills. Poor those kids, being used in this manner. As a stay-home-mother of 2 wonderful children and happily married, I find my days busy with routine. i just could not imagine with 14 children how this mother will cope with all the doctor’s appointments, pre-schools, homework, play dates. I know she mentioned volunteers and friends, well these people have a life too and kids. Oh, and what about after hours like meal times and bath times etc…She really needs psychological help…oh yes – she give herself some counseling, after all she does have a degree in Psychology and counseling. One more thing…I do know the fertility procedures since I had gone through fertility myself, and the doctor agree to only implant 3 embryos for my age group and condition, 36 years at that time. So 6 embryos for her at 33 years of ages is simply how can I put it “immorally as well as medically wrong”!!!!

I have read that she plans to obtain her Master’s degree while staying at home with her children. Hah! She will be lucky to have time to brush her hair…much less have time to do her studies.

IVF is very expensive. How did she come up with the $10,000 to have it done not once but multiple times???? How did she find time to take care of 6 kids and go to school? Maybe her mom needs to stop enabling her addiction.

So everyone is criticizing this mother for having an additional 8 children when she already has 6 at home. I can understand the whole situation of not having the money to help take care and feed these babies, but she did disclose the fact that all the other IVF’s didn’t take all 6 and the chances this time were the same. So what if a mother only had 2 put in and each one split 4 times????? Then what, criticize her too? Here’s another question for you??? She keeps saying with each of her pregnancies that six embryo’s were implanted. How did she end up with eight babies in this instance – did two of the embryo’s divide into two sets of twins? Something is just not adding up here…..

My daughter is the result of two IVF attempts. I was older so I did not have any left over embyos and needed more put in to improve the “odds.” The clinic we went to does have an embryo donor program that if I had some left, we could have donated them another infertile couple. Sometimes they need the donated embryos for couples who can’t contribute anything to the procedure. It turned out that I didn’t have any left to donate, but I was willing to. The doctor was very specific about what could happen with the four that were put in. There was a chance that four could end up eight. I knew all of that and they wanted us to agree selective reduction ahead of time – which is another story in itself. But we only ended up with one. Our first child is adopted. Maybe this woman should consider putting some of the newborns up for adoption. My comment might seem cold, but it could be the best thing for everyone – especially the children.

I just can’t believe the Doctor who did this procedure. Knowing what I went through and the thoughtfulness of the staff – I will never understand this case.

Does anyone think that it may have been the fertility doc who was the sperm donor?

Since the babies were born premature and will most likely have many problems, they will maybe be eligiable for SSI disability payments which are about (who knows but the mom and Social Security) maybe $400.00 to $800.00 per month per child. This is because she has already put money into the Social Security system and the children can collect on her account accumulation. I believe the news said she is already receiving this for at least to of her older six children since they are considered “disabled.” I know this can happen because the manager of an apartment complex I lived in had a premature son that had many difficulties (premature children are always at a certain risk), and the parents now receive SSI for this paticular son EVERY month. So the mother gets to stay home instead of working like the rest of us. And this paticular mother already had health problems and tried to get on SSI for herself and probably already has gotten it.
If the mother of these octuplets goes back to school in CA. she will be eligiable for Student Financial Aid and FREE childcare while pursuing furthering her education. Medical here in CA will most likely be paying ALL their medical needs and she will also most likely be eligiable for Food Stamps. She will most likely not need “welfare.” “This is only the begining untill the kids are 18.”

I think the state should step in and take these children from her and put the up for adoption. there is no way this woman can support these children, even the grandmother is opposed to her having all these kids they are killing her. There should be a law against a woman being able to have that many kids. The state will have to take care of them.

The doctor should be personally liable for ALL COSTS associated with these babies; we, the taxpayers are tired of working & trying to do the right thing.

Since the octoplets were born premature and most likely have problems that most premies have, they are usually considered at risk. Which most likely could qualify all or most of them for Social Security Disability or SSI payments from the mother or father’s Social Security accrued accounts.This mother already collects this for two of her disabled children (on who’s SSI accounts I wonder, her’s or the father’s?) All this not including the T.V. endorsements, magazines, etc…Sounds like a racket of insurmountable costs at the taxpayers expense and that means “you and me.”

I think this was a terrible thing this woman did, but I don’t harbor bad feelings for the children, &somehow they need caring for.They can’t just be ignored.she has lots of stories about this,and what is the TRUTh As far as gettting money from tv, mag,, interviews you can be sure she already has made some money and will make LOTS more. Maybe Nadya Suleman researched those free Infertility Grants. Appears to me she thrives on media attention and has made an occupation out of hijacking freebies. A couple of infertility non-profits offer infertility treatment grants at no costs. Infertility treatment grants are oddly enough called “scholorship grants” and why I do not know. However, these non-profits award $10,000 toward an IVF cycle at any program in the United States. Applicant fee is about $50.00. The strings attached are: You sign up for publicity when applying and if awarded the grant money you have to allow maximum media exposure. Media exposure and money? Sounds right up Nadya’s alley. Canal might be a more fitting word here than alley.

Yes, the IVF doctor should be held accountable for his decision to implant 6 embryos and should probably contribute to some of the expenses. However, at the end of the road, Nadiya Suliman is the one whose at fault . Also – the IVF doctor should be questioned and the medical board should keep an eye on him to prevent this happening in the future to another crazy woman.

Last night, I saw a picture of the mother when she had the six kids back then on the “Chelsea Lately” show. She looks totally different now, and probably had cosmetic surgery on her nose and lips to look like Angelina Jolie. I guess she got herself ready in case some network will call her for a reality show. OK – I have nothing against cosmetic surgery and its a personal fulfillment. However, when you have to feed 6 kids plus now 8 with no money or little money, then it should be solely spent on taking care of her children not cosmetic surgery. This woman is definitely loopy and needs some serious psychological evaluation. Also – the condition of the 3 bedroom house that she lives is in no condition to house 6 kids plus 3 adults. How will it house another 8 kids on top of that? Feel so bad for those beautiful children!!!

If obssesive Suleman keeps on implanting Botox and having plastic surgery on her nose like she kept implanting eggs, before she knows it she will be look like Michael Jackson whose nose is falling off. Nadya has implied that these miracles are God’s will. How frivious can she be when actually they were brought into this world under pitifull and traumatic conditions due to Nadya’s willfull wants. God did not intend Nadya or any woman to have a litter. Have yet to see a woman with sixteen or eight teats. Unlike female dogs, woman only have two teats for feeding. Clur number one. Seven of Nadya’s infants had to be tube-fed by “donated breast milk” from the start, one infant started tube-fed “donated breast milk” later and all eight infants were on an intravenous combination of nutritional supplements. The simple fact remains to hold true to form. Nadya can’t breast feed her own eight infants. Nadya can’t afford to feed her own other six children. This is all God’s will? Gainfully employed, proficient and stable married couples have a tough go feeding, housing, clothing and educating fourteen children till they are of age. Protective Custody needs to step in at once. Before any one of these helpless infants are released to Nadya’s care, Nadya should be taken into 72 hour custody, undergo serious evaluation followed by extensive counseling.

The IVF doctor should be found negligent. He is alleged by Nadya to be the one doctor who did ALL her infertility treatments. So he KNEW she had six other children. He knew she wasn’t married. And her paperwork would surely show she was unemployed. Ms. Suleman is clearly delusional and probably could use some of her government welfare money better by seeking serious psychiatric and counseling treatment. There are now fourteen children who depend on her. I was a single mother of one child, and I know how hard I worked to provide for her and give her opportunities and activities. I can’t imagine the quality of life these fourteen can look forward too.

Nothing about Ms. Suleman’s story adds up. How does someone with such a serious back injury that she received disability payments, go through multiple pregnancies? She reminds me of a compulsive shopper, except it’s not purses or shoes she craves, but children. It seems she has little intentions of raising them – just wants to be pregnant all the time. She intends for others to raise them ….. her parents, friends, state personnel, daycare centers.

I do hope the State of California keeps an eye on these children. Ms. Suleman has given many indications she is not mentally or psychologically capable of caring for them adequately. This is just a tremendous tragedy in every possible sense.

A brief news clip just aired claiming Nadya Suleman has vanished. According to her publicist, Nayda is hiding with her six children in an undisclosed location. With the heat turned up over this drama and looming issues yet to break, I’d suspect Nadya wants out of the kitchen. Her publicist also claimed that Nadya has had death threats. I wouldn’t put it past some people to do but on the other hand, Nadya may be playing the victim role. Many such false claims have been made with the intent to arouse public sympathy.

I’m totally disgusted and angry with this whole situation. What this woman has done should be considered criminal. I am so sorry for the children.

Obviously, the mother and the doctor were both willing participants in acheiving this pregnancy. An accident? Well. maybe neither the woman nor her doctor expected eight embryos to “take” but, nontheless, they did take. Many pregnancies are accidents. We now have what are apparently eight healthy children. The question now is how will they be taken care of.
I think the doctor should pay child support. Surely, this doctor knew the mother already had six children since this doctor had been working with her for a number of years. Surely, the doctor knew the mother was not part of a couple and her support system was questionable. This doctor has to take responsibility. Paying child support for eight kids for 18 years should make an impression and affect future decisions. This doctor is just as responsible for this pregnancy as any young man who chooses to engage in sexual activity without protection. The girl didn’t just go out and get herself pregnant.

This woman is the most narcissistic opportunistic parasitic individual. For someone who has not worked for ten years because of chronic back pain from an injury she incurred while she did work for a couple years. What woman would want to be pregnant every year when they are in chronic back pain; the monthly payments must have alleviated all pain and in fact had such good side effects such as enhancing your lips and realigning your nose and pumping up your cheeks along with paying for expensive fertility treatments so one could have more disabled children to make those payments even bigger!!!
Out of the six she has at home, 50% of them (3) are disabled and I will bet the same average or better will account for the additional 8 leaving a total of 7 disabled children….half of her brood. Who would play those odds? I hold her in the same category as a woman who uses drugs or drinks during pregnancy…they know the risks to the unborn but do it anyway with no regard for the fetus. I have major problems with a woman on public assistance having 6 let alone a litter of 8 kids. In my opinion, since we the tax payers are going to be raising these children (all of them) they should be put up for adoption. She can not fitfully care for 14 children and needs help from us, she should give up her parental rights AND be fixed so she can’t have any more children. This is an outrage that a medical “professional” would think it ethical to implant a litter in her. Is she hiding out of fear for her life or fear of legal ramifications? I say the latter. Clearly Nadya and her family have indeed launched the web site for CHARITY for themselves. Web text boldly states so, ignoring U.S. TAX LAWS. (1) A 501c3 is to be applied for before soliciting and taking donations. (2) A 501c3 charity can NOT be established for the sole benefit of just one person or family. Opportunists, Octo-Mom and her Ding-Bat publicist, whose name, address and phone number is all over the web site, better know the whole world is watching.

Why doesn’t the doctor that helped create this situation pay to raise the babies? Obviously, he didn’ see anything wrong with others having to foot the bill for someone else’s actions, let him be the one that takes on the responsibility of financing this.

There are only 2 people responsible for these 8 cute little lives.
1. The mother
2. The Dr. who should have known that she was not able to take care of any more children and he still went ahead with the procedure. Responsible American women were told to get the education, go to work, do community service, pay the huge student loan, wait to have children, all in the name of responsibility. The number of safe implants to give a woman under 35 under safe guidelines is listed as 2. Doc well knows that. Fertility clinics have to keep records and send in all client implants to the agency that governs IVF clinics. Doc’s reported he has never given more than 3.5. implants to any woman. Who is lying here? Nadya claims that her and Doc agreed on 6 implants which is considered an unsafe practice. Nadya has suddenly went into hiding. Doc is probably in hiding too. Hope charges are filed when the ongoing investigation is completed.

I am pregnant with our 7th child. All these children have the same mother and father who have been happily married for 18 years. We support our children. We homeschool our children as well. People are always complimenting us on our very well mannered children–something that seldom is seen in this society we live in…..and we do not get Welfare assistance. We pay school taxes just like everyone else too, and we have to PAY for our own school materials without any finiancial help from taxes. So, we are a family who is being very responsible….We are also DEBT-FREE minus our mortgage payment. We have no other bills. We do not live on credit. We only spend money we have. By the way, my husband is only an E-6 in the US Army. I am a stay at home mother. So, we are doing all of this on one income. We own our 3 vehicles as well.
I wish more people would just learn to live on the money they have. If they did this, America would not be in the mess it is currently in.

There is nothing “safe” about having an abortion, especially with a coat hanger. There have been so many mishaps due to abortions. And one of the greatest dangers of having an abortion are the women who suffer many years from a decision they made out of fear or ignorance. Been continually reported by reliable sources that Nadya has recieved other monetary donations. How can all this be? She can’t have her cake and eat it too. Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant women, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer or HIV/AIDS. Medi-Cal is financed equally by the State and federal government. Nadya is in a pickle. Caught in a catch 22. Department of Health Services regulations only allows Medi-Call recipients to have a small pitance of cash on hand at any given time. $3000 and under is a figure used by many Health Service Departments. If all of the above reporting be accurate, and I tend to believe they are, Nadya no longer qualifies for aid of any kind.

Nadya is nuts. Obviously she needs psychiatric help, extensive therapy, medication and perhaps a lobotomy. Her decision to IVF over the numerous times she did, is not just a bad decision, but a bad Symptom of MENTAL PROBLEMS “undiagnosed” …And let’s throw in a little Narcissism too because she is a REAL good actress and can fool many with her lies and irresponsible acts. In addition to filing for bankruptcy, in March of 2002, Angela Suleman sued Allstate Insurance Company. State Court records show in April of 2003 this was dismissed also. In February 2009, Angela Suleman told the Los Angeles Times she has paid her debts. Say what? How the hell did she do that? We’re talking nearly a million dollars worth of debts folks. She either has a magic wand, is a magician, has a sugar daddy or is a pathological liar, scammer and con artist all rolled into one. You figure it out. Mind boggling.

Sadly, most of America claims to be “Christian.” Just because you say you are a Christian does not make you one anymore than saying you are a popsicle makes you one. This is a deception…..The meaning of Christian means “follower of Christ.” And that means, striving to do what Christ would do in every situation. I am against having abortions aka killing babies, but I would never even consider going out and murdering a person just because they did this or performed the operation. That would be unchristian.
I just wanted to make that clear after reading your comment on the issue. No true follower of Christ would really want to go and kill people for killing someone else. A wonderful example of this is how the Amish community reacted to the recent shootings at the school. They did not react as a natural person would have with anger and wrath. They were hurt, but they responded in love and forgiveness. This is only something the Lord Jesus can give someone power to do. This is true Christianity.

When Nadya Suleman became a mom for the 14th time, she raised more than a few eyebrows. The drama grew by national proportions when details trickled out that Suleman was not only unmarried, but chose to have multiple embryos implanted in her womb through in-vitro fertilization. Last week, taxpayers learned that they would be partially liable for the family’s care through hundreds of dollars in food stamps and disability payments. The news fueled even more conviction that the fertility doctor should have refused the procedure.

But is he really to blame–or are our courts? In California, the state Supreme Court made it virtually impossible for a physician to exercise his own judgment after two lesbians sued in 2001 for the right to be artificially inseminated over the doctors’ personal or social objections.

Last year, in Benitez v. North Coast Women’s Care Medical Group, the justices ruled that anti-discrimination laws trumped physicians’ rights. In so doing, the court tied the hands of the medical field, leaving little recourse against irresponsible and unhealthy decisions like Suleman’s. Monthly, this family will be able to collect the $490 for food stamps, $1900 already collecting for the 3 disabled children and all eight babies should qualify for SSI at the same rate as their siblings, approximately an additional $5,000 (normally 12 months for premies, longer if disability develops or is discovered). That’s $7900 plus $490 in food stamps. With more mouths to feed, will she qualify for more food stamps? She’s trying to sell her story…she’s hired a publisist, security firm and a marketing firm. Where’s the money coming from to pay them? If she had a large enough settlement in the bank to pay for the IVF, how does she qualify for food stamps. I hope the State of California and/or Kaiser get in line first, to be paid for the hospital bills if she gets any kind of book or movie deal. We should BOYCOTT any other clients and/or companies doing business with the marketing firm, publicist and security firm. She’s exploiting her children for monetary gain. She says she’s going back to school in the fall when the babies will be 8 months old…childcare for 8 plus the other 4 not yet in school. Who can afford that bill? Will the State of California have to pay that too? Save the money for those who really are in need do circumstances beyond their control. She’s stated she will take care of her children without public help…and then begs for help from others on her website. Let’s let her do it on her own. Unbelievable!

No one has brought up who has paid for her prenatal care and hospital delivery of her other six children? With no job for the past nine years and no father to support these children, who wants to guess who paid for her prenatal doctor and hospital delivery? Who intentionally gets pregnant when they have absolutely no means to pay for the medical expenses incurred and has a adequate income to provide for a child?
So, she says she spent about $100,000 total on fertility treatments and who knows how much on her cosmetic surgery and whether she also paid the sperm donor who was so willing to give up his sperm to father children but no willing to support them once they got here and he must of known she had no means to take care of them. If indeed, the state paid for all her medical, that would be another $60,000 in prenatal and hospital care for her previous six plus probably close to $500,000 or more for the octuplets…..this woman has not passed College Math, let alone get her Masters……!
Nadya is the sole designer of this elaborate plan to bilk everyone around her to satisfy her own narcissistic needs and chronic obsessions and she must be good at it, she has used the doctor, the system, her parents and now she is pleading the general public with a fancy publicist to draw sympathy for her pathetic client. Heck, we just has Bush for eight years, her timing is all off….maybe in another lifetime…..but we have all seen the light and we will not be fooled again.

Everything has a base for refusal! Any doctor abiding by their OATH and IVF Guidelines would NEVER have injected 6 implants. Suleman’s warped mind and lack of fiances is not part of the OATH & GUIDELINES. Now you have 101 lecture in Discrimination.

Latest news: Killeen Furtney Group Inc, Nady’s capitalistic publicist, a business marketing corporation, has told the press they have “gagged” Nady’s mother for 90 days for speaking out against Nadya. Reports say that Nadya’s mother recieved ” $40, 000 ” for the interview she gave; vidio can be seen online. What happened to freedom of speech? What makes telling the truth wrong? Why is the publicist so angry? “Gagged” in it’s legal term would mean that Furtney Group requested the court put a gag order on Nadya’s mother? How desperate can they be? All I have to say to the whacky publicist —- is “gag me with a spoon.” Birds of a feather flock together. With dollar signs in their eyes.

Although I agree with the issue of too many children, the deed is done! She made a “bad” choice, as well as her parents, in the eyes of many who commented on here. But, in her eyes killing the embryos was wrong. I asked myself the same question whether I could select which embryo go full term and which should not and it was a very difficult question to answer even considering my beliefs. Most importantly I don’t want to give doctors the right to choose for me.

The legal issue toward the responsibility of the donor, recipient and doctor have not been clarified. It is rather a moral issue whether or not these individuals should contribute to the upkeep of those children and one they should be called to answer. Definitely it is an unusual case and one which will change many ways other INV are handled; I hope so.

So far, it is a free country and a woman can have as many children as she likes. Thank goodness we live in America! And whether Esther you believe a woman has a right to choose or Michelle that each life is unique and should be treasured…….. You women a choosing freely.

Now the major question that needs answering is “Do we help this woman with her problem or condemn her?” I would rather help her out as much as possible so that she can become a good parent because the more we do for her the more the chances that those children will grow up to become contributing individuals and not dependent on the state. Dr. Manny’s article which we are blogging to clearly points to “DO NO HARM.” Meaning a doctor must take that OATH to be able to practice. GET IT? American Society for Reproductive Medicine, ASRM for short, indeed has guidelines when it comes to IVF treatment. Here they are: ASRM’s guidelines indicate that only one fertilized embryo should be planted per patient. If the woman has faced medical challenges to conception, two may be used -but never eight. Note that Nadya Suleman had IVF prior that was successfull, no troubling conceving. Proof being, Nadya had six children already. Implanting six embroys is unconciable. Out of reason. Way outside ASRM guidelines. PLUM CRAZYNESS.

Goody-two-shoes and do-gooders who think ENABLING the irresponsible is a deed of kindness — THINK AGAIN. As reasonable members of society, we should NOT fall into that trap. To enable what is obviously stark wrong and highly socially unacceptable, teaches irresponsible people someone will always be there to BAIL them OUT. Society’s role is not to become a co-dependant to the irresponsible. The only way we better society is to make the irresponsible become responsible for their OWN actions. Government needs to legislate tighter regulations re IVF implants due the aftermath of the Suleman fiasco. Repeated DWI offenders get their steering wheel gets locked and they have to blow before operating a vehicle. Repeated IVF offender should get fitted with a chastity belt and throw the key away. Lock the barn door before the horses are out. One comment here mentioned that Oprah has not responded to Naya’s offer to appear on her show for 2 million. Wrong, Oprah did respond saying, ” I don’t pay my guest to appear.” Nadya’s ego is swollen out of proportion, her story is not worth 2 million.

Oh My God. How horrid. Anyone seen the photo Nadya that of herself a week or so before delivery. Huffington Post online has a copy of her monsterous pregnant belly. Nadya had to have sold her own photo to a single media source for Big Bucks. Photo has spread like wildfire.

Hang onto your wallets Californians, Dr. Kamrava has another uninsured client for you. Latest dribble is that Dr. Kamrava, Nadya’s IVF Dr, transfered least 7 embryos into another woman at his clinic couple of months after transfering least 6 embryos into Nadya. This woman had 3 children. Only wanted one more by her new hubby. She is hospitalized in LA and 5 months into her pregnancy. How many more muliple births does this Frankenstein Dr. have in-waiting for California taxpayers?

In regards to the comment I posted earlier about Dr. Kamrava, Nadya’s Dr, I neglected to add that the recent uninsured woman that Kamrava so generously implanted with 7 embryos who is now 5 months pregnant and hospitalized in LA, is carrying QUADRUPLETS. Maybe Kamrava can’t count. The woman only wanted ONE more child. Maybe if he was behind bars he would have more time to get his math straight. Bet he knows how to count his money.

This is the point I tried making in my first comments. The babies are here and they clearly need support. And just like all the other millions of welfare recipients, what makes this woman’s case really so exceptional? It is just a little bigger, that’s all. But it is the same thing we are paying for week after week, month after after month, and year after year. Our tax dollars are going to continue paying for the welfare system as long as it is intact.

This mother is disconnected with reality and is in dire need of some psychological help. A lot of us think she is crazy to include myself- however, she knew what she was doing or scheming if I may say. But the truth is as well know, that she is using this great nations’ tax payers money to fulfill as one of the writers of this discussion commented “her narcissistic needs and chronic obsessions.”

I would like to see that a genetic test of the octuplets be conducted to determine whether the “fertility physician” is the “biological father”…. Imagine that!

Residential Occupancy Standards: A home must have at least one room of 120 square feet. Additional rooms must have at least 70 square feet. Two people can occupy each room and for each additional 50 square feet, an additional person can occupy the room. The Code does not distinguish between a bedroom, living room, dining room, and kitchen. All rooms can be used for sleeping except bathrooms, hallways,closets, and stairwells. When stable working people are losing there homes all over our nation, Suleman is not who deserves being bailed out. Every taxpayer’s rear bumper should carry a NO FREE LUNCH NADYA sticker. Proceeds to go to a ~ Legally State Registered Charity Organization; 501c3 that benefits a broader scope rather than a single person or family. SPREAD THE WEALTH.

One is autistic, twins have tiny autistic characteristics and another has a mild speech impediment. That’s over a 50 % disabled ratio. With same kind of odds, same kind of gene pool, same sperum donor, Nadya decides to bring 8 more into the world. Nadya has been caught in lie after lie. Appears CBS has the answer to who is taking responsibility. Perhaps Maggie Rodrigue’s February 16th exculsive interview with Nadya’s mother, Angela Sumeman, says it best. Angela Suleman claims her own monthy retirement check she recieves is “all gone” supporting Nadya’s six children. After being gagged, Angela is recanting. Changes her story. Like mother like daughter eh? The game began with Good-Mother-Bad Daughter. Nadya took it to a new level; Good Daughter-Bad Mother. Now, Angela claims that Nadya is “a very good mother.” Angela contributes that to herself passing on the “very good mother” trait. Final stage becomes Good Mother-Good Mother. Not what Nadya said about her loveless Mother. Who is who here? A major question arises. Whether Nadya accounts to California Social and Health Services for the financial support Nadya recieves from Angela. The more the Suleman family keeps giving interviews, the more deep doo-doo is brought out. Around and around it goes, where the charades stop noone knows.

Talk about pushing the envelope. Her Mom says she is the one supporting Nadya’s six kids and it takes every cent of her retirement check each month. Nadya’s father says he is making $100,000 a year as a contractor in Iraq. Ed Doud Suleman lives in California with his former wife, six grand kids and his former wife. Claims he also is supporting Nadya’s kids who are on State Aid. Total those four incomes folks. Fat Cats. Spells fraud to me.

The thought plickens. Could divorced duo, grandpa and gramma Suleman both claiming Nadya and her brood of six living with them as dependents on their separate federal income tax filing forms? Could grandpa Suleman be claiming his divorced wife as a dependant or does his divorced wife claim herself? Figuring monthly combined incomes, Nadya’s SSI check for her disabled children, grandma’s monthly retirement check from her teaching job, grandpa’s yearly income from Iraq and $500 a month food stamps courtesy of California, they seem to be living high on the hog. Somewhere in the vicinity of a monthly income near $14,000 is nothing to sneeze at. Add to $14,000 per month a yet undetermined factor. The possibility at grandmother’s age she has qualifyed for SS benefits plus Medicare A and B. One could go so far as to question if grandpa files in the U.S. or if anyone files at all. Whatever the case be, far from being classed as LOW INCOME.
