Sexpert Q&A: Sex = Headache Medicine

Dear Yvonne,
I read your recent article on sex headaches. Can’t sex also act as a type of headache medicine? I want something to say the next time my wife tells me she’s not in the mood because she has a “headache.”
—Chris
Dear Chris,
Yes, people often have sex to get rid of headaches. A 2007 study conducted at the University of Texas, evaluating students’ motivations for sex, confirmed as much. This is not surprising since research from The Journal of Head and Face Pain in 2001 found that orgasms during sexual intercourse can provide migraine relief for women. While the efficacy of orgasm isn’t nearly as good as taking a migraine medication, relief is provided much faster when effective.

Thanks God my girlfriend never has a headache!!!
Alberto from Sexy Help Desk published a post about.. The 5 secrets about sex women never revel
I have had migraine headaches since I was 4 years of age. I have been married for almost 24 years. Once I was married and started having sex, I realized that sex helped my headaches. I discovered that if we have sex at the onset of the headache it will usually go away and not turn into a migraine. Once the headache has turned into a migraine then we usually have sex several times in order for it to go away. I have an average of two headaches a week. I only take medication when sex is not an option. I would much rather have sex than to take medication. It is definately alot more fun. Is sex the cure for headaches? It has been for me.
I had one of those sudden, nausea inducing, hole up in a dark cave headaches on Sunday evening. I took my meds and crawled into bed, and lay there thinking “someone please just shoot me”, then I remembered the “headache article” and wished I could yell down the hall to get my boyfriends attention to work his wonderful magic. Those of you who suffer from migraines know that yelling is out of the question, heck just talking in a normal voice is painful. Next time, I’ll take my meds and drag him to the bedroom with me. What a GREAT solution!
Does Meno-pause cause a decreased desire for sex even when my wife is able to still have an orgasm, We have been married for 22 yrs. I would like some advice for other was to get my wife in the mood. I have tried alot of things I would just like another point of veiw.
Thank you
Brian
So Dr. Y – are you a surrogate?
I’ve been saying this for years! Actually, I’ve found that when I’m in a sexually active (and satisfying) relationships – I get far fewer migraines. So, I believe that sex on a regular basis can also act as a prophylactic.
