The scarcity of primar care doctors it true. The problem is that they are not paid as much as specialists. Medicare could help correct that fee inequity.

The insurance companies should be required to offer small businesses policies with pooling of like employers and allow that policy in many states. This will provide a fair risk pool. If a person then is allowed to transfer the policy when changing employers all workers should get insurance reasonably. The problem of getting the current uninsured on the rolls will require intervention that must not be heavy handed.

There are many hardworking people with families that are not offered private insurance through being employed. With all due respect, if the physicians become "overworked" then lets create more jobs and get the Dr. some help.

Those of you that want to complain about public health coverage should put yourselves in this situation:

Private Insurance--Not offered by employer
You are a 30 year old single adult ---can't qualify for medicaid
You have just been diagnosed with diabetes, arthritis, or you were just given a prescription to have a mammogram. How do you pay for it??
If tax dollars should not be available to cover health care then what should the tax $$$ go to??
The Dr. wants to pay for the educating of more primary care physicians and prevention. Then the people needing health care today should continue to wait for the Dr.'s to get their education and just hope that the bump found in her breast just fades away...

Another point to consider is that if a public health plan drives the private health insurers our of business, then approx. 2 million jobs could be in jeopardy. Unemployment is already near 10% - so how can we fund such programs if we continue to take away tax revenue in the form of job loss?
