PLEASE TAKE NOTE! My family and I have been using natural remedies for years, and we’re hardly sick. If we happen to get sick, we take natural supplements and are literally better within a day if not hrs. I had the flu a few weeks ago, and started a homeopathic flu remedy 3 hrs. after my flu symptoms began, and was literally at my brother-in-laws surprise party the following night (with the exception of a stuffy nose!) The FDA makes manufacturers of natural meds. to place statements on bottles saying that the product has not been approved by the FDA….but my question is…………WHY NOT!?!! They’re not saying it doesn’t work, they’re just saying it has not been approved!
They say because it has not been approved, they can’t guarantee it’s safety….however, they say these vaccinations are ’safe,’ but how on earth can they make statements like that with no long term studies, and how it would effect a fetus?? Also, how could they make these ’safety’ claims if they make you sign papers before you get it?? If the FDA is really on our side and wants us to take the safest thing possible to cure the flu, then why did they make Dr Weil (world-renowned natural cures Dr. and author of numerous books) take off his claims of there being a natural supplement you can take to ‘cure’ the H1N1 flu? They made incredible threats to close him down if he didn’t take it off his sight immediately!?! Natural remedies cure..not just treat for 4 hrs. and poison us with side effects!

Dr. Manny, can you confirm? My doctor said that if you or your child are borderline asmatic, they should NOT receive the nasal flu vaccine. Anyone with breathing problems should only get the injection.

I’ve read differing reports on this H1N1 vaccine. I am terribly concerned that folks such as yourself are not being forthcoming about what this vaccine is actually composed of. Is there mercury in this vaccine? If there is, how can you, as a health professional, recommend that pregnant women receive this shot? Also, I’ve read that there are chemical components in this vaccine that are extremely hazzardous to human consumption, such as one that is a precursor to cholesterol in the human body, but if taken in an injection, can cause neurological breakdown. Please inform your readers of the chemical makeup of this injection. We have the right to know what kind of effects this vaccine could have on our children and ourselves in the future.

New data released on CDC website shows age group 2nd highest for hospitalization and largest group of deaths 32% were for 25- 49 year olds. These people are NOT considered a priority for vaccinations and are placed behind infants 0-4 who have only a 3% death rate. Why is this???

Hi Dr. Manny, I read your response saying h1n1 should be taken by pregnant women, but I heard on Fox one day that there is an element in the shot that makes it questionable regardinng autism. Do you know what that element is? The Dr. said you could ask for the serum without this particular element, and my granddaughter is 4 monnths pg wiht my first great grandbaby and we are very concerned. Thank you.

Dr. Manny’s answers are incorrect, misleading and manipulative for the following reasons:

1. He always compares the worst problems associated with the H1N1 infection with the immunization.
That is misleading. He should compare the risks of getting the disease and the risks of H1 N1 infected patients of having those severe symptoms once with the risks associated with the risks associated with the immunization

2. He is not mentioning the possibility of treating the H1N1 infection with antivirals, in case one gets the disease. This is an option that many would prefer if it presented to them as an alternative

3. He does not explain (I am assuming that he knows the risks) the known risks of the H1N1 immunization

4. He conceals the fact that not too much is known today about the possible relation between immunizations and auto-immune diseases. Scientists have been wrong before in so many instances (e.g. Vioxx).

5. He is not mentioning the fact that the risk benefit of H1N1 vaccine was considered acceptable by FDA only in the context of a pandemic situation

6. This is a question: Does Dr. Manny declare his conflict of interests? Does he own share in pharma companies manufacturing the vaccine? I hope not.

I received a swine flu vaccination back during the 1975-76 outbreak. I am wondering if it is possible to have a titer from that vaccine in my system….

I am currently 7 months pregnant and I am scared to get the H1N1 shot due to no long term studies that the drug has on the baby and or the mother. I got the seasonal flu shot but am waiting to get the H1N1 flu shot just becuase it scares me. I woud hate to put my baby in jeopardy because the governemnt says something is safe… Sorry but our governemnt really is not that trustworthy! Thanks for your help.

Dear Dr. My 56 yr old sister has been in 2 diff. hospitals battling the N1 virus for over 1 month. She went into the hospital with bronchial viral infection. She then contact while in the hospital what is know as hospital puenmonia. Then they told us after 2 weeks that it was the N1 virus. They ended up putting a tube ventalator in the throat, now she has a trake and is still on a ventalator. They are giving her massive amounts of pain killers so she is not mentally aware of what really is happening. My concern lies with the response that they dont know how much damage has been done to her lungs. I am sure that laying there in a stationary position for this amount of time cant be good. My question to you is to what extent has the N1 virus been know to effect the lungs, and the process for weening off a ventalator? We were told she is in the best hospital in the area. But I know this was the only hospital that would take my sister’s medical insurance. And we were told she would be in for a long time. We started in Virtua in Voorhees, NJ and we are now in St. Agnes in Philia. Also, she has a history of mild strokes, does the prolong use of pain killer effect the brain and its function? My son’s doctors office says he does not meet the criteria to get the H1N1 shot at this time. Why did Mr. Obama’s daughters Malia and Sasha able to get the shot but my son can not. He is 11 years of age and no health issues that I am aware of.

help? , I am 59 yrs and have asthama, copd, diabetes, heart valve problems, chronic intensial
disorder, anemic, arthurtis, neroperathy, stage 3 lever desease and chronic back and lower leg pain from a fall off a ladder 15 yrs ago that messed up my lower back (l-4 & 5). I do not smoke I do not drink, never have, I have never used drugs and never abused rx drugs do the regular flu has put me in the hospital at least 10 times. I always get a flu shot and have my pnemonia shot.
my problem is I can not get a h1n1 shot. my doctor ordered them but they cancelled them on him
now they do not know if they will ever get the shots. my doctor only treats older people with chronic problems. why will they not send the vaccine to him? I work in and office that is very crouded (800 people) with poor ventilation. I have been out of work for the last 3 wks and go back in 1 wk. If I go back I will get the flu, (they do hhave the flu there) what can I do I have called everyone I could think of and they all send me to the next person untill it loops around in circles with no answers, please help me find a shot, I live in stoneboro, Pa, 16153 , I will go where ever I have to to get the shot.

My daughter is not planning to get the H1N1 shot for either of her children. The eldest girl is turning 12 and is autistic. She consciously has steered away from items with mercury in it and had her daughter on a special diet for at least four years with good results. Are you getting your children innoculated for H1N1 and the flu?

Constantly I wonder what is different environmentally now than when my children were babies. So many more children are autistic now. Two things have come to my attention recently that I know my children were not exposed to. We rarely used disposable diapers and I never let them wear flame retardent pajamas. Now I hear on the news that flame retardent chemicals are used in disposable diapers. Also, just today I was reading an article stating that Ireland does not let farmers plant genetically modified grains and that it is even illegal to research them. I wonder what the rate of autism is in Ireland vs. the U.S.? Think of all the cereal grain children ingest.
But of course my children weren’t exposed to the huge quanities of preservatives in foods, etc. as kids are now. All I have are questions. What we really need are answers! Thank you for your time.

my son has swine flu hes 34 years old is in intensive care and critical he is on an ECMO machines which breathes for him he hasnt woken for 4 weeks now, they are trying to wean him off ECMO they are going to give him steroids soon to help his lungs, he is on heprin, and is bleeding from somewhere in his bowel or bladder they have CT scanned him, but cannot locate the bleeding,, hes very sick now, how long will it take to recover from this swineflu as the doctors dont say much to us, thankyou for taking the time to read this email eileen

What are the symptoms of H1N1, or can it vary from person to person. I had a high fever for 5 days and severe diarrhea for about 24 hours. I was told that WAS H1N1. I know you can’t tell without a test but knowing the symptoms would be helpful. Thank you

How can we accept the new CDC figures of 22 million sickened since April and H1N1 deaths? Everyone should know that clinics and even hospitals aren’t testing for H1N1 anymore. My son was hospitalized 3 days last week and was told that he had symptoms consistent with H1N1. I asked if he was tested, and he was not. Staff stated that the test was too expensive and inaccurate. He was given Tamiflu, Tylenol, and an IV. Figures lie and liars figure. I think that these bogus figures feed the hype. Inflated and unsubstantiated figures for both H1N1 and jobs created. I see a trend here. Since this is a health forum – it makes me sick!

The element in question is mercury. Some say it is harmless (most medical professionals) while some say it isn’t. I myself don’t know, but the vacination comes in two forms: one with and one without the mercury. The medical community says that it is a very minimal amount and benign. Most vacinations have it. Most people against most vacinations that are injectable are against them due to the mercury, which is in a compound (not a straight element) also found in silver tooth fillings, which, again, many people outside the medical community are opposed to. They say that there is a link to autism among other things.

As I said, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t just listen to one side of the argument. But, I would say that sometimes the risk of not getting the vaccination outweighs the risk of any possible mercury affects. Truth is that they’ve been using mercury in tooth fillings & vaccinations for years. Truth also is that we are seeing autism become much more of a problem. The hard part is blaming autism on mercury when it could be a host of other things. But, as I said, I don’t know but I am aware of the argument. Hope this helps. I’d suggest talking to your doctor and asking about studies linking the two. I’d also suggest reading about some parents who are sure that their kids started to show signs of autism soon after receiving vaccinations containing mercury.

We do know that mercury is toxic, but when in a compound, it could be harnless.

I just wished to comment on the article in reference to aquiring Guillian Barre from gettin the H1N1 flu shot… I have a variant of Guillian (called) Parsonage-Turner Syndrome.. All of the variants are gotten from a viral attach that compromises the auto-ammune system and haven gotten Guillian Barre from the virus shot is possible BUT it is also possible to get many other reactions to the low dose injection of a virus… It is the risk you take anytime you get a virus shot to stop an infection to any of the new viruses that come out nearly yearly.. But you also must understand that getting Guillian Barre is possible from many other methods and we all know you can NOT predict the affects of any medication or injections meant to protect us from other deseases…
On the more possitive side, the recovery from Guillian Barre is 75%, and can be averagely aquired between 6 month – to – 5 years…. I’m at 14 months now with my syndrome and only know things could be alot worse.. Gentleman living in my building has ALS ( Lue Gehrigs desease) web search that and see how fortunate you are …
